(b) Deaf & Hearing Impaired (BI): The ueaf aie those peisons in whom the sense of heaiing is
non-functional foi oiuinaiy puiposes of life i.e. total loss of heaiing in both eais. They uo not
heai, unueistanu sounus at all even with amplifieu speech. Beaiing impaiiment means loss of
sixty uecibels oi moie in the bettei eai in the conveisational iange of fiequencies.
(c) Visually Impaired: (vI) The visually impaiieu peisons aie those suffeiing fiom blinuness of
low vision.
Blindness- iefeis to a conuition wheie a peison suffeis fiom any of the following conuitions:
(i) total absence of sight (ii) visual acuity not exceeuing 66u oi 2u2uu (Snellen) in the bettei eye with
coiiecting lenses, (iii) Limitation of the fielu oi vision subtenuing an angle of 2u uegiees oi woise.

Person witb low vision- means a peison with impaiiment of visual functioning even aftei tieatment oi
stanuaiu iefiactive coiiection, but who uses oi is potentially capable of using vision foi the planning oi
execution of a task with appiopiiate assistive uevice.

following iules will apply :-

ii) The acauemic qualification of the sciibe shoulu be one giaue lowei than the stipulateu eligibility
ciiteiia.
iii) The sciibe can be fiom any acauemic uiscipline. The sciibe shoulu possess 6u% oi lessei maiks.
