PROSPECTUS From the Desk of the Principal Introduction of Sri Jain P.G. College Bikaner Sri Jain P.G.

College is one of the foremost colleges of Western Rajasthan. It has made pioneering contribution to the intellectual development of this region. This college has probably contributed largest number of Chartered Accountants and Company Secretaries out of Western Rajasthan. The alumni of this college are placed all over the country contributing substantially to the development of the nation. The college is well known in the field of commerce and computer education. The college is conducting the following full time programmes : 1. B.Com 2. BBA 3. B.C.A. 4. M.Com (A.B.S.T) 5. M.Sc. The college has been providing following facilities to the students : 1. A level and O level courses (computer courses conducted by DOEACC) 2. Chartered Accountancy course classes (CPT, IPCC, CA FINAL) 3. Company Secretary Programme classes (CS Foundation, CS Executive, CS Professional) 4. ICWA Classes 5. PG and Doctoral Consortium (for the students of higher classes like MCom, MSC and Ph.D) 6. Preparation for Interview and group discussion Admission Policy of the Government of Rajasthan Admission to Post Graduation programmes : Minimum 48% marks in graduation or minimum 55% marks in the subject in which admission is saught. However, if the candidate is from out of Rajasthan, there must be minimum 60% marks in graduation. In case there are vacancies, 5% relaxation can be given for candidates out of Rajasthan (instead of 60%, it would be 55%) and to the women candidates. Admission to B.Com If the candidate is a native of Rajasthan or if the candidate has studied 10+2 in any school in Rajasthan, the candidate must have at least 45% marks in class 12th. If the candidate is from out of Rajasthan, the candidate must have at least 60% marks in class 12th. The candidate may have any subject in class 12th. If there are vacancies in the college, a relaxation of 3% may be given in the minimum marks, with proper intimation to the Directorate, College Education.

There must be at least 20 candidates in B.Com and the maximum number would be 80 per section. . If the number of students is less than 10, this course will not be offered as a regular course. Optional papers can be offered only if there are at least 5 students willing to opt for a particular specialization.

Admission to M.Com (ABST) If the candidate is from Rajasthan, the candidate must have at least 48% marks in B.Com or minimum 55% marks in ABST in B.Com. If the candidate is from out of Rajasthan, the candidate must have at least 60% marks in B.Com. There must be at least 20 candidates in M.Com (ABST) and the maximum number would be 40. If the number of students is less than 10, this course will not be offered as a regular course. Optional papers can be offered only if there are at least 5 students willing to opt for a particular specialization.

Change in the Faculty / Subject If a student applies for change in faculty, the application can be considered only if the following conditions are satisfied : 1. There must be vacancy in the desired faculty / subject 2. the student must have obtained minimum marks required and minimum qualification obtained as per the University rules and the student should not have less marks in comparison to the student obtaining admission in the desired faculty / subject and having least marks. 3. These interfaculty transfers are permitted (subject to University rules and guidelines). From Science to commerce faculty From Arts faculty to commerce From Commerce faculty to Arts faculty The student must apply for change in subject. The student must apply in time. The student will be given this facility only once, provided there are vacancies in the subject. The application for change in faculty / subject, must be made with fees of Rs. 100 within 15 days of the last date of admission. If there is a gap of more than 2 academic years, the student cannot get permission for admission in the next year. However, this rule doesnt apply to women candidates.

Important Information Rules regarding Fees

Rules regarding admission to the Post Graduate classes For admission to MCom (ABST), the student must have obtained at least 48% in B.Com or minimum 55% marks in ABST in B.Com. for admission to MSC(Computer Science), the candidate must have obtained at least 55% marks in graduation (graduation in any discipline). If the candidate is out of Rajasthan, the candidate must have obtained at least 60% marks in graduation in B.Com (in case of M.Com) and in any discipline (in case of MSC (Computer Science). M.G.S. University rules will aply in the case of admission to the B.Com and M.Com and MSC courses If there are vacancies, there will be relaxation of 5% for women candidates. If a student has completed previous year of post graduation, the student cannot get admission in the previous year again in the next year. Library and computer facility There are more than 33000 books in the college library and more than 15 perioidicals are subscribed in the library. Every year more than 1500 books are added to the library. EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES N.C.C. facility N.C.C. unit was started in 1958. There are seats for 107 cadets in our college, out of which 33% seats are reserved for girls. The cadets have to complete at least one camp in the first year. They can appear in B certificate in the first year itself. In the second year, the cadets can appear in C certificate after completing at least two camps and B certificate. The NCC cadets can participate in Youth Exchange programmes and visit abroad. They can also participate in Republic Day parade. The cadets get preference in many services and there are reservations for them in Army (if they fulfill minimum requirements like C Certificate etc.) Major Dr. Ashok K. Sharma has been given the Dy. D.G. NCC award. He has also received the Group Commander Award in 2010. He had earlier received Collector's award for outstanding contribution. Senior Under Officer Mr. Ved Prakash Gujar participated in the Republic Day parade and represented India as senior under officer on 26 January 2010 at Rajpath. Cadet Under Officer Mukesh Kumar has participated in 18 camps and has been recognized for his commitment by the NCC. The NCC Unit of the college conducted Blood Donation Camp on 5 July 2010. The cadets of the college participated in the Special National Integration Camp at Jaisalmer, Army Attachment camp, Combined Annual Training Camp at Bikaner and Mt. Abu, Sirohi and Pali during 2010-11. The cadets of the college also participated in The Resident Parade organized at Karni Singh Stadium in 2010-11. .

N.S.S. Facility Our college has two NSS units sanctioned. There can be upto 200 students in NSS units. We have adopted following slums for development : a. Gopeshwar Basti, Gangashahr b. Kheteshwar Basti, Gangashahr During 2010 -11, the college organized tree plantation activities in collaboration with the Rajasthan Patrika. This was undertaken by the NSS unit of the college. District Collector Dr. Prithvi and Vice Chancellor Dr. Gangaram Jakhar were the chief guests on the occasion. The NSS unit of the college conducted a workshop on prevention of infanticide in collaboration with SURE. The students of NSS unit participated and won prizes in the various contests organized by different NSS units of different colleges. Rover Scouting We have rover scouting unit also. 16 students from the college have received certificate from the President so far. In the first year, the scout gets certificate of Praveen Rover, in the second year, the scout gets certificate of Nipun Rover and after completion of the 3rd year, the scout gets presidential certificate. Career Guidance Bureau There is a career guidance bureau also in the college, which regularly conducts seminars, conferences, group discussions, preparation for interview and personality development programmes. These programmes are open to all the students. The students are regularly informed about different career opportunities available after graduation and post graduation. The bureau regularly conducts PG students consortium to guide the PG students (students of M.Com and M.S.C. (Computer Science) about career opportunities in academics and research sector. During the academic year 2010-11 following workshops were carried out : 1. Career guidance programme by ICFAI Hyderabad - giving information about Ph.D. programmes and other advanced programmes to the students 2. Career Guidance programme on CAT, MAT, GMAT and other similar examinations 3. Career Guidance programme on RBI's young scholar award 4. Career Guidance Programme on Insurance and Banking sector 5. Career Guidance programme on Ethical Hacking and other developments in computer software industry 6. PG Student's consortium on Research, writing and academic activities

The placement cell of the college will help the student in getting summer placement. The student must initiate summer placement application in the month of September and get the summer training confirmed before the end of February. The student must get summer training schedule and summer training project along with approval letter from the organization and deposite the same in the placement cell of the college before end of February. During summer training, there will be periodic reviews of the work done by the student jointly by

the organizational guide and by the faculty guide from the college. In case the student is not doing proper summer training, the student will be required to undertake the summer training again until the satisfaction of the faculty guide, the organizational guide and the College Principal. Every student will be bound to attend the classes regularly. Each student If a student remain absent for 10 continuous day, he will be terminated from the college. He / she will be required to pay Rs. 500 as penalty for readmission to the college.

Each and every student must have at least 75% attendance in the college. In case his / her attendance is less : c. the student will not be allowed to appear as regular student d. such student will have to pay penalty of Rs. 500 and the student will have to apply to appear as private candidate. e. The scholarships / other facilities offered to the student will be withdrawn f. Anyother facilities offered to the student will be withdrawn It is the responsibility of the student to regularly check his / her attendance status and to ensure that his / her attendance as per the university rules. Concessional Travel Facility The students will be given facilitiy of concession in rail / bus fare as per the rules and regulations of respective authorities. Railway concession is available only during vacations and the student can avail it only for travel from Bikaner to the place of permanent residence of the student (as mentioned in the application form of the student). For educational tour / industrial tour / etc. the student can get railway concession only as per rules and procedures of Indian Railway. IDENTITY CARD As soon as the student gets admission, he / she will be entited to get Identity card. The student must get the identity card as soon as possible and must always keep the identity card with him / her always. The card wil be required for ; a. b. c. d. e. for enrolling in the class for depositing fees for availing library / reading hall facility for railway / bus fare concession to participate in the special programmes / seminar / industrial tour /

The student may be required to present Inditity card at any time and therefore the student must always keep the idneity card with him / her. During travel, the student must keep the idneity card with him / her, specially if he / she has availed the concessional travel facility. SPORTS There are many extra-curricular activities are being organized. We provide facilities for Table Tennis, Chess, Base Ball,Softball, Boxing, Cricket, Weight Lifting, Basketball, and other sports. The college selects teams of the students on the basis of screening tests which are conducted in the month of August and these teams participate in the inter-university tournaments. There are common rooms for boys and girls (separate). The common room has facilities like Chess, Table Tennis, Carrom etc. In the months of December and January the college level tournaments are organized.

Our students participated in University tournaments in Cricket, Table Tennis, Chess, Bollyball, Badmington, Softball, Baseball, Boxing, Swimming, Cycling. The college was the winner in the University tournaments in Chess. The College won Bronze medal in the University Tourmanemts in Boxing (Mr. Vinod Punia, 55 Kg category) Ram Niwas Jat of BCA III got selected in the University Team in the year 2010-11 In Baseball, Mr. Ram Chandra Tard got selected in the University team and played in all India interuniversity tournament In Chess, Akash Rajpurohit of BBAII In Soft Ball, Bharat Maru In Swimming, Chakresh of BCA III

LIBRARY / READING HALL


The college has a very rich collection of books and periodicals. We have over 25000 books of latest editions in different subjects as per the University requirements. The rules regarding issue of books are as under : 1. The student will given four books at a time, 2. The student will be given library card. The student must also bring identity card along with library card. 3. In order to help in the library work, there is a library committee, headed by the Principal. The librarian is the secretary of the committee. This committee looks after the following issues ; a. buy books and periodicals b. improve the working of the library c. to improve the culture and environment in library There are regular meetings of the library committee. Admission Rules
The principal reserves the right to reject admission of any student on any reasonable ground. The principal reserves the right to rectify any clerical mistake at any stage. The candidate who is in service, must submit no-objection certificate of the employer, without which admission will be cancelled and the student alone will be responsible for the mistake. Incomplete application form will not be entertained. The student can withdraw caution money in 2 years of leaving the college, in case of failure of the student, the money will be transferred to the general reserves. Admission will be governed by the government policy regarding admission.
