USE of WAS/WERE
Was and were are the auxiliary verbs
used to describe situations in the past.
While talking about subjects I, He, She,
It, we use was and for You, We, They, we
use were followed by noun/adjective. In
negative sentences we use wasn't (was
not) and weren't (were not). To ask ques-
tions we start the questions with was,
were followed by subject and noun/
adjective. The point to remember here
while describing people, places or things
in the past is we don't use a main verb.
The auxiliary was, were, is followed by
adjective/noun.
Was, were is only followed by a verb in
passives.
