Input Instructions

SCSCA Strength Software

This system was designed with the user in mind. All you have to do is input in the
cells which do not have a "0", color, or "x" already in place.
In these instructions, we will cover how to enter data for each event, break ties, and
discuss how to enter data if an athlete DQ's on an event and how to input data if weather
causes an event to be cancelled.

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ


* The peach colored cell located in cell A1 should not be edited or the program will not function
* There are numerous columns hidden. Please do not unhide as they contain all of the
coefficient values for computing points, etc. Same for the cells which already contain a
value such as a "x" or a 0. Please do not "experiment" with the formulas in which I have
programmed.
* When you print, only the sheet which you are working on will print. Landscape mode is
already the default, but you may want to check this to ensure.

Input Steps
Enter all names and schools of competitors.
Enter bodyweights for each athlete. Be exact. If the athlete weights 145.9 enter it just like that.
As you're entering the names, etc, you will notice that points are already being assigned.
Do not worry about this or change the points being placed as these will change when the real
data is inputted.
Bench and Squat Data Entry
You have two options for entering data for the bench and squat. Option 1 is to enter each of the
athlete's attempts. If you choose this option, please note that if the athlete fails an attempt
then you shall place an "x" before the number. Placing the "x" converts the number to a string
and will not be counted in the MAX formula for the best.
Option 2 allows the user to input only the athlete's best GOOD lift. If this option is chosen, please
input the best lift ONLY in one of the three attempt boxes. I tend to use attempt 3's cell for this
option.
The minimum qualifying marks for bench press (and all other events) are listed above the work
area in RED and YELLOW. If an athlete fails to meet any of these marks, then he shall be
disqualified from scoring. His data can still be input, but he will not receive points.
TO ELIMINATE an athlete's points due to DQ, simply delete his bodyweight data.
VJ and 40 Dash Entry
Enter in the best VJ and 40 time in the appropriate cells. Again, be complete.
If the athlete did not meet a minimum, leave the mark in the cell but delete
the bodyweight.

Scoring
The bench press and the squat are added together to form a TOTAL. The highest total
of each weight class is awarded 3 points; second highest awarded 6 points, and so on
by three point increments. For the VJ and 40 Dash, the highest (VJ)
and the lowest (40) are awarded in one point increments starting with 1.
You shouldn't have to input points by hand. The program is designed to handle this
Ties
If there is a tie in the TOTAL the program is designed to break it by awarding the least points
to the lighter athlete (using the bodyweight). If there is a tie in the VJ or 40, the program
is designed to award the points to the heavier athlete.
You will need to break a tie by hand if both athletes have the exact same bodyweight
If this happens in any area except for the final placing, please do the following:
1. Ensure that both athletes have the same bodyweight
2. Figure out which places are in question (let's use 3rd and 4th as an example)
3. Figure out the point awarding system (by 3's or by 1's) we will use 3's here
4. Add the total possible points together for both places (our example would be
21 (9 for third place, 12 for fourth))
5. Divide your number by the number of athletes tied (2) and enter that point value in the
appropriate cell.

If there is a TIE in the Total Points column, you must also break this by hand also.
To do this, look to the bodyweight of the tied athletes. The athlete with the LIGHTER
bodyweight wins the tie and shall be awarded the higher place. Simply typeover
the number listed in the cell for this athlete.

Weather Cancellation
If rain or other inclement weather forces the meet director to cancel the 40 yard dash,
you need to enter DNR in the cell for the time. The DNR is short for Did Not Race.
Miscellaneous
If an athlete does not complete a good attempt on any event, list his best as 0, and be sure
to delete the bodyweight so points are not scored for him.
