Youssoufs Story

Instead of attending school, Youssouf treks many miles with his father each day to find water and grasses for their small flock of goats. Because Youssouf and his family rarely ever see rain, they have little water for their goats, or for themselves. On their trek for water, their throats are dry, their bellies empty. Temperatures soar beyond 120 degrees Fahrenheit. They await a day when they have a source of water nearby. That day is near. When Amman Immans fourth borehole opens, Youssouf and his family will have clean water for their flock and for drinking, cooking bathing, farmingfor life.

How Can You Help?

Set a time each day, maybe during a meal, to make a daily wish for water. As you make your wish, think of Youssouf. After eating dinner, put a penny, nickel, dime, or quarter into your well. On February 14, 2012 (Valentines Day), or March 22, 2012 (World Water Day), send a donation to Amman Imman. Ask your friends to contribute to your wishing well. Ask your parent to match the funds. Organize a fundraiser and donate all funds raised to Amman Imman. Contact Debra Kahn at debbie@ammanimman.org or 240.418.1143 for event ideas and support. Sign up for Amman Immans A Walk for Water, on May 12, by contacting Debra Kahn.
