Executive Summary

Banks play an important role in the economic development of a country. If the banking system is unorganized and inefficient it stops the process of development. In Pakistan, the banking system is very well organized. The State Bank of Pakistan established on July 1, 1948 stands at the apex and is responsible for the operation of the banking system in Pakistan. The other banks, which form the banking structure in Pakistan, are playing an active role in the economic development of the country. National bank of Pakistan was established under the National bank of Pakistan ordinance 1949. The primary objective of the setting of NBP was the purchase of jute from the growers in the former East Pakistan and also to perform the commercial banking functions in the country. The bank is also authorized to act as an agent and trustee of State bank where the State bank of Pakistan (SBP) has no branches. The bank therefore performs dual responsibility, one as commercial bank in its own right and at the same time a trustee of business finance. NBP is the largest commercial bank of the country in terms of its deposit base. It was established in 1949 and now has an efficient network of branches through out the country. The bank is providing different kinds of services and products to its customers. The main purpose of the study is that "How N.BP Facilitate The Government Activities On Behalf Of State Bank". The Project is composed of information obtained from interviews, observations, reference books, and several annual reports of the organization etc. NBP has a vast network of 1189 branches and is also operating in 20 countries of the
