Facilitated students in taking on the role of peasants in the 16th century to teach lesson on indulgences and Martin Luther. Differentiated handouts, assignments, and lectures in order to accommodate students with reading disabilities. Implemented interdisciplinary project requiring students to create a drawing using characteristics of Renaissance Art.
Practicum (Grade 7/8 Combined Class) Countryside School, Champaign, IL. Spring 2011. Mediated a class debate on Tinker v. Des Moines School District for a lesson on the First Amendement. Guided students in using multimedia sources to address multiple perspectives and bias in the history of the Boston Massacre. Customized lesson plans to match the needs of students with special needs.
Practicum (Grades 6-7), Mahomet-Seymour Junior High School, Mahomet, IL. Fall 2010. Designed and led classroom slave ship simulation for lesson on the Triangular Trade and the Middle Passage.
