1.

Scope of workshop The course will cover the subjects of theory and design techniques required to develop most important building block in modern RF and microwave systems. This shall be a beginner to intermediate level course which will enable fresh and beginner engineers to start designing of components and will provide a base for advance circuit designing at their own. Subject areas include: Lumped, microstrip and stripline matching networks, Passive circuits, MW amplifier design, PCB design, enclosures and shielding. A special emphasis will be given to microwave system design (eg RF transmitter and Receiver in L Band). The workshop will also provide an opportunity, through practical circuit designing using CAD tools to apply this theory to the design and construction of distributed circuits.

2.

Pre-Requisites Participants/engineers already should have intermediate knowledge of analogue and digital circuit design and transmission lines.

3.

Outcomes The Participants shall learn the following competencies: Understanding of matching network Ability to design matching networks using printed microstrip or strip-lines. Ability to design amplifiers, matching networks, and DC-Bias networks. Ability to design passive circuits: Hybrids, Dividers, filters and couplers. Ability to apply commercial microwave circuit design Computer Aided Design tools (ADS). Ability to design PCBs for amplifiers, packaging, optimization and debugging of circuits. Understand manufacturing issues that affect RF performance. Design circuits that work the first time.
