TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS & RIDER (12 piece Big Band)

1. PA 1.1 A suitable PA system for the size of venue must be provided. This must be capable of producing sufficient volume and coverage to reach all of the intended audience. Acceptable manufacturers include: d&b audiotechnik, Nexo, Meyer Sound, LAcoustics, Turbosound. 1.2 The following is a typical channel plan for the band. Please provide 1 of the Mic / DI options listed. For smaller venues the drum kit and brass section may not require as many mics. 1.3 A professional mixing desk from one of the following manufacturers must be provided: Allen & Heath, Digico, Digidesign, Midas, Yamaha. (NO BEHRINGER PLEASE). The desk must have a minimum of 28 channels, each with switchable 48V phantom power and 3 band fully parametric EQ. Additionally it must have 6 x sub groups/ VCAs, 2 x stereo returns for FX and 5 x (pre-fade) aux outputs for monitor mixes. This desk should not be shared with other artists unless explicitly agreed with Pete Faint. 1.4 In addition please provide the following: 2 x channels of 31 band graphic EQ for FOH mix (BSS, Klark Teknik, XTA) 5 x channels of graphic EQ for monitor mixes (BSS, Klark Teknik, XTA) 2 x FX unit for Reverb & Delay on vocal channels (Yamaha, Lexicon, TC Electronic) 8 x channels of compression (BSS, dbx, Drawmer, Klark Teknik) 4 x channels of noise gate (BSS, dbx, Drawmer, Klark Teknik) 1 x CD player (Denon, Sony, Tascam) NO BEHRINGER PLEASE 1.5 Please provide 6 separate wedge monitors on 5 mixes for the band. Acceptable manufacturers include: d&b audiotechnik, Nexo, Meyer Sound, LAcoustics, Turbosound. 1.6 It is preferable for the monitor mixes to be handled by a separate desk and engineer at the side of stage but FOH controlled monitors are acceptable. Please contact Pete Faint to discuss further. 1.7 A competent, experienced sound engineer, who is familiar with Big Band music, must be provided to mix the front of house sound and monitors for the band. If you are unable to provide a suitable engineer please contact Pete Faint who will be able to provide one for you. If you intend to supply equipment other than that specified above please contact Pete Faint prior to the event to discuss. 2. Power Supply 2.1 Ideally the PA system should run on an independent phase. As a minimum the PA should not share the same phase as lighting or kitchen facilities. 2.2 The bass and keyboard players will require 13A sockets close to their position on stage. (See stage plot below). 3. Stage / Performance Space. 3.1 The stage/ performance space must be a minimum of 8m (or 24ft) wide x 4m (or 12ft) deep. If this is not possible please contact Pete Faint to discuss alternatives. 3.2 11 chairs will be required on the stage/ performance space. 3.3 The band will provide their own music stands.

4. Set Up & Sound Check 4.1 The band will require approximately 1 hour to set up their equipment. Please ensure that the stage/ performance space is clear and ready at the bands arrival time and that the sound engineer(s) are available at this time. 4.2 The band will require up to 1 hour for sound check with access to the full FOH and monitor sound systems. The sound engineer(s) should be present throughout the sound check. It is preferable for the venue to be free from all audience and unauthorised persons at this time. 5. Dressing Room 5.1 Please provide a dressing room(/s) capable of accommodating 15 people. Ideally these rooms will be heated and contain a minimum of 1 mirror each. 6. Catering 6.1 The band will require a minimum of 15 bottles of water. Other refreshments are welcome! 6.2 If the band will be in the venue during normal meal times please provide 15 meals per sitting.
