University of Southern California (USC) Job Duration: February - June 2012 Application Due: Open Until Positions Filled. Positions are being filled quickly. Please submit your application today! Priority Deadline: Feb 3, 2011 5:00pm Type: Part Time and Full Time position (Temporary Contract Position) (Admissions, Recruitment, & Enrollment Management) The USC National Association of Peer College Advisors (USC NAPCA) is a southern California nonprofit organization based out of the USC Rossier School of Education. Our mission is to establish effective partnerships with K-12 schools/districts, colleges and universities, businesses, and community based organizations to increase higher education attainment rates in the US. We seek to close the college aspirations-attainment gap throughout the K-16 education system so that a higher proportion of America's students, particularly those from underrepresented groups, such as low-income, first-generation, racial/ethnic minorities, foster youth, and English-language learners, are prepared to enroll in some form of postsecondary education and graduate with a high quality college degree, workforce relevant certificate and/or credential. Our purpose is to nurture in students the confidence to aspire to and complete a postsecondary education, the resilience to help student's break through barriers to college access and attainment, and to ensure successful transition from high school to college enrollment. We strive to connect students and families with relevant experiences, information, and resources to empower them to take ownership of their future goals, and make informed decisions when selecting a college or career that connects to their academic preparation and future higher education aspirations. NAPCA's big goal is to increase the percentage of America's high school graduates, particularly lowincome, first generation, foster youth, and underrepresented students, who enroll in some form of postsecondary education and graduate with a high quality college degree or workforce relevant certificate and/or credential. Our nation's current rate of college attainment amongst the U.S. population is approximately 40 percent. NAPCA is committed to contribute in the effort of increasing the U.S. college attainment rate to 60 percent by 2025. This means that we must contribute to produce 23 million more graduates than at the current education attainment rate (U.S. Census Bureau, 2008 American Community Survey). NAPCA is growing steadily to become a multifaceted educational support system that prepares hard working students for admission to public and private colleges and universities nationwide. We have planned an engaging pre-collegiate USC Summer Residential Program that provides secondary school students with an opportunity to stay on the USC campus overnight while being exposed to different facets of college life. Students will receive assistance defining their academic and career goals and developing educational plans to achieve them. Students will attend courses on various topics that will help enrich their academic skills for high school and college success. Additionally, the program will provide information and resources to help students become better prepared and competitive applicants for

admission to the college of their choice. For summer 2012, we added a few courses to our traditional one week Cardinal program and developed a two week Cardinal and Gold program in response to our community input survey. To differentiate between the one week Cardinal program and the two week Cardinal and Gold program, please review our program curriculum snapshot for both programs.
