PRAYUKTI

(A voluntary forum of likeminded individuals)

THIS IS MY LIFE.PERIOD. Indeed, yes it is. This cherished life of yours belongs totally to you. You struggle to excel throughout, first in your studentship, then in your career, then in your relationships. And you excel too. Then you start to contemplate whats next. Or what transcends beyond these. You vehemently care for your own life, your family, your friends. Youll have to. But the question remains. Who cares for those who have no one to care for? All through your life you have this extra little ounce of sympathy for these lesser privileged. And it remains as it is, unabated. Throughout. First, you decide Ill start to help them after my studies. You finish your studies. Then you think Ill be considerate to them after I start to earn. You start earning. Then you decide, I will be thoughtful of them once I settle in my career. You settle in your career. And then you reckon not now. And the very thought of doing good to them resides in oblivion. If it is not now, then when? If its not us then who else? Its time we put behind our apathetic attitude behind. Its time we come together and start to build a small ray of hope in the lives of these specially abled children. And only this ushers in a meaningful existence not to the lives of these but to the lives of ours. To start with in a very small way, we aim to provide vocational training to the exceptionally talented children of Mathru School for the Blind.

The Intent The motive of PRAYUKTI is to train, teach & empower the specially challenged kids in an additional field apart from their schooling. The intention behind this is to inculcate a talent in a field of their interest which may turn out to be a turnkey in their life. In a conventional way we all see the basic education is a primary requirement but just with that how many are able to shape their future as desired? Taking a minuscule step towards this issue, empowering these kids is the main intention or the objective of PRAYUKTI.

How It Works !!! With a little bit of pre work and a small survey we found that empowering the visually challenged kids in the field of music and art is more appropriate for their growth and development. So with this in mind we have initially identified the following branches of art and music. Music(Classical) Dance(Bharatanatyam) Tabala (Percussion Instruments) Keyboard Professionals in the above domain train groups of genuinely interested kids in each of the above mentioned field. The classes are held for these kids twice a week at their school premises Mathru Educational Trust for the Blind, Yelahanka New Town, Bangalore. With this structured plan we promise to take care of remunerations of these professionals thereby encouraging the kids to learn more in a professional way.

The journey so far Prayukti formally came into being on 4th June 2011. The team consists of young people, most of whom are working professionals in premier companies. Currently the active strength of Prayukti is around 55. The present location of operation of this project is Mathru School, Yelahanka New Town. Apart from the professional training, Prayukti also strives to contribute to the allround development of the students by conducting various kinds of activities. Storytelling, quiz, theatre, counselling sessions etc. are some of the activities that are currently being carried out. Prayukti has also started Manthan, a fortnightly newsletter especially designed for the visually challenged community. This newsletter covers a wide range of information for all age groups. Current affairs, short stories, history and significance of Indian culture, English grammar etc. are some of the topics on which articles are compiled and presented to the students in Braille format.

Money Matters In order to sustain the professional teaching expenses, we also need to raise funds. Nevertheless, this is not a requirement for any person and he/she can contribute equally by being a volunteer. Any contribution has to be made directly to the institution. No intermediate (or cash) transactions are entertained so as to allow absolute transparency. The payment can be done in the following ways: Cash(Directly to the Institution only) Cheque / Demand Draft (DD) Net banking Any cheque or DD can be drawn in favour of Mathru Educational trust for the Blind. Any contribution made is tax exempted as the above trust is registered under 80G. Giving donations is one thing, working towards a cause is another. We believe in the latter. The aim is not just to contribute monetarily and forget about it but to provide them a parallel school of extra curriculum along with the usual academic studies, by involving in every step of theirs. The intent is to bring in a paradigm change in their lives, not overnight, but over a sustained period of constant monitor and encouragement. Friends, Lets join hands. THIS IS OUR LIFE.
