November 8, 2011 Ms.

Melissa Kuhn Hunter Public Relations 41 Madison Avenue, Floor 5 New York, NY 10010-2202 Dear Ms. Kuhn, It is with great enthusiasm that I write to express my interest in an internship position with HunterPR, for summer 2012, as announced on your website. I will be graduating in December 2012 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communication (with a concentration in public relations), and I currently work for the university as a social media assistant in the Division of External Relations. I have managed to successfully balance employment, academics and extra-curricular activities during my time as a college student. In January 2011, I was selected to work in the Office of Orientation and Commuter Student Services as a part of the highly competitive Peer Advising program. While serving as an orientation leader to incoming students, I was allowed to develop my interpersonal skills while personally engaging, informing and assisting more than 140 college freshmen. In addition to earning my place on the Deans List for the past three semesters, I have pursued membership in professional organizations such as the Public Relations Student Association of America. I began my involvement with PRSSA in 2011 and had the pleasure of attending the National Conference. My passion for the organization led to my selection as the 2012 National Liaison, allowing me to represent my chapter at the national level. In addition to strengthening my skills in writing, public speaking and social media through my coursework, I have also been very involved on my campus. I have served on the executive committees of my fraternity (having recently been elected the 2012 President) and other student organizations and philanthropies. In my current internship with FIUs External Relations division, I have been able to get a good grasp of being a communicator in action. Since my beginnings with the office, I have broadened my experience with social media networks such as Facebook and Twitter, learning how to use these networks to build a community among the students, faculty, staff and alumni of our university. I also write quality student-focused stories for FIUs official news website (news.fiu.edu). I intend to work with other departments in the division to gain even more relevant experiences before the end of my term with the division in April. I hope to make my entry into PR agency life by proving myself in the field as an intern, allowing me to learn more about the profession while making use of the technical, interpersonal, leadership and industry-related skills that I have gained both inside and outside of the classroom. It is my hope that we could schedule a meeting soon to discuss my opportunities for involvement with Hunter. I am excited to make use of any opportunities that you could offer, and I am confident that my past experiences and current traits and abilities would allow me to make a lasting impact and help pursue HunterPRs vision of award-winning excellence in communications. Thank you very much for your time and concern, and I look forward to speaking with you soon. Sincerely,

Christian A. Williams Enclosed: Rsum
