All support for the honorable television staff Let us continue the siege of Maspero to cleanse the media

http://www.e-socialists.net/node/8199
28 January 2012 The Revolutionary Socialists call upon all the political and revolutionary movements and parties to continue the siege of Maspero until the restructuring of the media takes place, as the Egyptian people, whose taxes pay the salaries of employees in the television and radio are entitled to an independent and credible media, that is able to provide information without falsification in favor of the military rulers or any ruler who will take the reins of power. Who of us can forget how the military used the government newspapers and TV to launch a sectarian war on the Egyptian Copts to justify the massacre of Maspero, which claimed the lives of dozens of martyrs? And we also still remember how they told lies about the revolutionaries so that the military could wash their hands which are stained with the blood of our martyrs in Mohamed Mahmoud and the Cabinet. Last but not least, we won't forget their quest to spread terror amongst our families and friends since the 25 January of last year. The crimes of the state media are uncountable and our revolution will not see victory until the cleansing of that organization which is clearly hostile to the revolution and is in favor of the ruling military gang. Therefore there is no choice but to end this falsehood by the power of demonstrations and sit-ins. There is no alternative to keeping the pressure on the SCAF and the parliament in order to select an information minister who belongs to the revolution in word and deed. And as the Revolutionary Socialists believe that one of the most important goals of the revolution which is the cleansing of all the state-owned institutions that are owned by the people. Only the workers in these institutions, through their own united efforts, can achieve this goal. We declare our full solidarity with all the honorable staff of the Nile News channel and the state medias noble employees, who rose up in protest against the policies pursued by the scandalous state media, which only works to discredit the revolution and the revolutionaries, ignite strife among the people, obscure the facts and distort events in order to bring us back to a worse version of the official state media than that in the reign of the ousted dictator. We affirm that our hope will always be pinned on the free Egyptian revolutionaries in the public squares of this country, as well as the freedom fighting labor activists in their factories, and all the honorable workers in state institutions so that these institutions are always in the service of the people who own it, and in the service of the revolutions goals. We stress on our full support to the revolutionaries of Maspero in their many attempts to clear the media of the former regime's supporters, especially the last sit-in of the "Nile News" channel's staff in objection to the editorial policy of the channel, and to demand a policy of editorially independent, respected and balanced coverage of events and to put an end to authorities intervening in the affairs of the channel and impacting the coverage Victory to the revolution - Glory to the Martyrs!
