All this is possible because of air around us. Air is colourless, odourless and tasteless but we can feel the presence of air. What exactly is air? Air is not a single component but a mixture of gases. Nitrogen is the major part of air and takes four-fifth of space covered by air. Nitrogen is the major component of fertilisers that the farmers spread on soil. Oxygen is the second most abundant gas. Oxygen is the most important gas.

Oxygen is the second most abundant gas (21%). The portion of pie chart representing oxygen uplifts. In the centre of the screen a bubble with oxygen written in it. Arrows pointing in different directions with pictures of uses of oxygen appearing along with the voice over. Pictures of humans and animals are seen breathing in air. Picture of a candle burning. When the candle is covered with a glass bell jar, it stops burning. The portion of pie chart representing carbon dioxide uplifts. A plant is shown above the pie chart with focus on CO2 intake by a leaf. The portion of pie chart

Oxygen is useful in respiration by all living organisms and is responsible for our survival. Oxygen is needed for burning. No substance can burn in the absence of oxygen. Carbon dioxide is used by the plants for preparation of food by the process of photosynthesis. Water vapour is responsible

for humidity in air. Dust and smoke is always present in the air but its composition varies from place to place. Drag the component of air to the region which represents its composition. We all take in oxygen and give out carbon dioxide. Still the oxygen in the air never finishes. Why? This is because of plants. Plants take in carbon dioxide for the process of photosynthesis and in turn release oxygen in the atmosphere. This way a balance is maintained and the amount of these gases remains almost constant in the atmosphere. What do you think might happen if we cut down all the plants? The amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere will increase and we will die. Have you ever thought how air is useful to us? The oxygen in the air is required for burning. Oxygen is needed for respiration by living organisms. Air helps birds to fly. Air fills empty spaces and makes them useful like in tyres. Moving air is used in running windmills and techniques like winnowing.

The bubbles contain names of different components of air. Show humans and animals taking in oxygen and giving out carbon dioxide with the help of arrows. Plants take in carbon dioxide and give out oxygen. Show plants on the screen. Plants are shown to take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen with the help of arrows. Plants and humans are shown alongside each other and the transfer of carbon dioxide and oxygen between the two is shown with the help of arrows

Importance of air 1. Burning 2. Respiration 3. Flying 4. Fills spaces 5. Other applications

In the centre of screen Importance of air is written The screen is full with a moving windmill, small animals and humans moving around, birds flying, burning logs, a boy flying kite, a woman winnowing and boy pumping a tyre. As the uses are described one by on, the use in context is highlighted in the picture.
