In addition, it will prepare them for comparison between the Gospels o Students will develop strong research skills

What is the specific learning objective(s) for this lesson? o o o Students will learn how to dissect a message and create a visual timeline Students will learn how to use the program Prezi which will become handy in other classes Students will learn the connection of one event to another and the effects of such events during Jesus ministry

Why are you planning to teach this lesson? Why must this information/skill be presented to the students? o We have studied the Book of Matthew and this will be the final project to have the students create a timeline of their knowledge and the events that have occurred for Jesus ministry. How will you determine if students have met the lesson objective? (Think assessment) o They will each present their PREZI and graded upon accuracy of the path (order of events), specific events and number of events. Students will need to follow the specific guidelines, to incorporate in their PREZI, but Scripture accuracy is the primary objective.

How should this lesson be presented to ensure maximum student access and participation? (lecture, whole group activities, small group activities, cooperative learning groups) o The whole group will be lectured at once. A screencast PowerPoint tutorial will be made available online for additional access if needed. Also while using the computer lab, I will be available for individual questions.

Lesson Presentation
Introduction/Motivational Activities/Anticipatory Set: It is time to put our knowledge into action! It doesnt matter what you know, it matters what you do with what you know. We will show we know the book of Matthew by using a Visual Timeline representing one of the specified passages.

Detailed Teaching Sequence: (Provide sufficient detail that would enable a substitute to effectively present this lesson. Bulleted statements are preferred) Students are to be assigned a specific passage/story in Matthew. Students will select a topic for the timeline. They may choose from the list provided, or submit their own idea for approval: o o o o o o o o o o The Birth and Early Years of Jesus The Beginnings of Jesus Ministry Jesus Ministry in Galilee Commissioning the 12 disciples Jesus Withdrawals from Galilee Jesus Last Ministry in Galilee Teachings and Parables in Judea and Perea Passion Week Crucifixion and Resurrection The Last Three Days

Students must submit their selected topic for approval before completing the project Students will review the segment and using pen/paper, jot down the ideas of what items will be included in the visual timeline. Students will research approximate dates for the timeline and events that occurred during the chosen selection Go to the reserved computer lab for initial stages: o o o o o Students will create an account for Prezi, using the school email address provided in class. Students will review the PowerPoint screencast tutorial and start creating a Visual timeline using Prezi Students must incorporate images, shapes and multiple colors. Additional text and charts are optional, but the pathway must be understandable and easy to follow without the Bible. The title must be clearly stated for the segment the timeline represents. Students will continue working to finalize their projects at home or later in the computer lab

Guided Practice/Independent Practice/Assessment Activities The Powerpoint Screen cast tutorial is available for students unable to follow during the group lesson and/or for those who are absent for the initial instructions.

Closure: This project will hopefully be one that students enjoy creating and open their eyes further to how technology can be used even for a Bible class. The research skills learned and applied during this project will assist them for future projects requiring research.
