1 PURPOSE The purpose of this document is to propose a complete computer lab which fully equipped with updated technolgies for teachers, students and school administrators in systemically reinventing teaching, learning and school management processess in order to help students cope with the Information Age.

2. INTRODUCTION 2.1 Computer studies for the primary school students was introduced as

one of the government project that aims at building Malaysias capability in the ICT area. The national project is to build up the human capital for the information age and to accelerate the objectives of Vision 2020 (to transform Malaysia into a knowledge-based society). 2.1.1 The Concept The computer studies was conceptualized out of the vital necessity for Malaysia to make the critical transition from an industrial economy to a leader in the Information Age. Education is the vehicle for the fundamental shift towards a more technologically literate, thinking workforce, which is able to perform in a global work environment and use the tools available in the Information Age. ICT application is the governments initiative to enhance learning institutions through an integrated solution that involves the following areas: a. b. c. d. e. Curriculum Pedagogy, Assessment, Teaching-learning materials, Technology as an enabler, (hardware and infrastructure)

The computer based studies will help children to practice selfpaced, self-accessed, and self-directed learning. Students will learn

at their own pace, learn to access information from various sources independent of the teacher, and learn to explore topics of interest outside the curriculum.

OBJECTIVES Objectives are:3.1 To assist the students, teachers and schools administrators to help students cope with the Information Age. 3.2 To contribute to the development of strategies to enhance the impact of implementing the ICT excellence for the purpose of the national rollout. 3.3 To provide the necessary direction for the growth of the e-Education among the primary school students.

PROJECT ADMINISTRATION

The computer lab teacher, along with the Active Technology Committee will be responsible for the administration and implementation of the computer lab. As Project Director, the computer teacher will oversee the budget, professional development, and yearly progress of the grant program. The Active Technology Committee, consisting of the principal and one teacher from each grade level will assist in the progress of computer lab.

EXPECTATION AND CONCLUSION

Support for this project is necessary from THE COMMUNITY CHEST organisation to succeed the Vision to implement the fully equipped computer lab for the SJKT LADANG EDINBURGH primary school students.
