5. FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES
Extinguishing media Special fire fighting procedures Specific hazards
Powder, foam or CO2. DO NOT use water if avoidable. Use water to keep fire-exposed containers cool and disperse vapours. Move container from fire area if it can be done without risk. Avoid breathing fire vapours. May travel considerable distance to source of ignition and flash back. May react violently with oxidising materials. Heat may cause the containers to explode. Vapour could create explosive mixture with air even far below room temperature.
Extinguish all ignition sources. Avoid sparks, flames, heat and smoking. Ventilate. Clean-up personnel should use respiratory and/or liquid contact protection. Collect with absorbent, non-combustible material into suitable containers. Should be prevented from entering drain.
Keep away from heat, sparks and open flame. Avoid spilling, skin and eye contact. Eye wash facilities and emergency shower must be available when handling this product. Static electricity and formation or sparks must be prevented. Use explosion proof electric equipment. Flammable/combustible - Keep away from oxidisers, heat and flames. Keep in cool, dry, ventilated storage and closed containers. Ground container and transfer equipment to eliminate static electric sparks. Keep containers tightly closed. Store in a safe place away from children and not together with or near food, animal feed or medicines etc. Do not use aluminum containers. May attack some plastics, rubber and coatings. Flammable liquid storage.
Storage precautions
Storage criteria
Explosion proof general and local exhaust ventilation. Well ventilated area. If ventilation is insufficient, suitable respiratory protection must be provided. Gas cartridge (organic substances). Use protective gloves made of: Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). Wear approved safety goggles. Wear appropriate clothing to prevent reasonably probable skin contact. Wash at the end of each work shift and before eating, smoking and using the
