Job Summary The Service User Involvement Coordinator (SUIC) under the guidance of the Peer Support Services Manager will help set up and coordinate the successful SLHP Service User Involvement Service (SUIS), the feedback and development tool for SLHP service users. The SUIC will work to recruit and maintain a group of volunteers for the purpose of mapping and documenting SLHP service user needs and trends. The SUIC will also ensure the required data

on client experience and service user trends is properly organised and presented for use by the SLHP in order to inform better its services and client experience. The SUIC will work closely with the First Point team of Access and Assessment Workers. The SUIC will be accountable to the Peer Support Services Manager, who will be accountable to the Director of Outreach and Community Development. The SUIC will take an active Diversity positive approach around all areas of work and will be an active member of the Metro Centre staff team.

Main Tasks 1. Service Delivery and Development Recruit and induct volunteers for the roles of Peer Representatives (PR). Establish the SLHP Service Users Panel (SUP) and incentivise its membership. Support Peer Representatives in building their own Service User Hubs (SUHs). Organise and hold an annual SUP focus event. Work alongside First Point and other SLHP services to determine useful Information Gathering Initiatives (IGI) Plan and conduct Information Gathering Initiatives. Work closely with MVE work stream to share information gathered from service users to improve service quality. Conduct surveys aimed at gathering client experience information i.e. within clinical settings, SLHP services etc. Establish and maintain contacts with other existing service user groups and forums in order to establish the SUIS as their hub. Establish and maintain contact with other non-SLHP services used by SLHP service users, when relevant, informing them of SUIS gather feedback. Consolidate information and opinion to inform SLHP commissioning intentions and influence existing SLHP and non-SLHP services. Prepare quarterly reports and single initiative reports to be presented for quarterly monitoring. 7 November 2011

Broaden awareness of the SLHP model, increasing service user confidence in the model and their position as stakeholders within it. Under the guidance of the Peer Support Services Manager, remain aware of changes to services internal and external to SLHP and adapt methodology accordingly. 2. Partnership Work Maintain strong relationship with other SLHP service providers. Continually reassess ways of working within SLHP.

Quality Standards

Ensure adherence to the quality standards of the SLHP work stream. Ensure that SLHP PRs feel supported in a boundaried and time-limited manner. Remain cognisant of relevant policies of partner organisations, with particular emphasis on PoVA, Confidentiality, Child Protection, Equal Opportunities, complaints and grievance procedures.

Monitoring and Evaluation

Ensure sensitive and confidential recording of information in line with the Data Protection Act. Document all work in line with Metro Centre good practice, particularly with regards to confidentiality, and monitor and evaluate all work with due consideration of data protection issues.

Other Duties

Undertake all administrative work generated by the post. Participate in the life of the Metro Centre including providing regular office cover as part of the staff team. Attend relevant team meetings, and other meetings as required. Participate in monthly supervision and annual review meetings with the Peer Support Services Manager.

Undertake relevant internal and external development activities in order to act effectively as SUIC. Work in line with Metro Centre policies and procedures. Participate in needs assessments and other consultation exercises to establish service user needs. Work flexibly, undertaking some evening and weekend work, sometimes at short notice, occasionally in detached locations. Undertake any other appropriate duties as requested. If these duties are extensive and of a higher job description scale, the terms and conditions of the post may be varied in negotiation with the Peer Support Services Manager and the Director of Outreach and Community Development.
