General
PIA currently has a single runway system with a parallel taxiway. The runway is 2501m long, 45m wide and oriented in the 17-35 direction. The main taxiway is 23m wide on the runways full length, but not constructed with paved shoulders. From this taxiway Alpha, there are two perpendicular taxiway connections to the aprons in the north.
The terminal facilities consist in 2 separate buildings, a 1720m arrival terminal and a 4670m departure terminal, both one-level concepts. These facilities offer a poor overall appearance due to the lack of architectural signature, and a level of service far below the IATA standards
TERMINAL BUILDING
A New Terminal Building with a closed area of 45.000 sqm will be constructed with all utilities and equipment for operational functioning and with an exceptional and impressive design resembling the independence of Kosovo.
ATC BUILDING
A new air traffic control tower with ATC building will be built on the west side of the runway, in a location providing a clear view on all operational airfield surfaces.
MEP BUILDING
Construction of MEP building gives the advantage of consistent, stable and reliable supply of power will be provided 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.
