Jarrettown Missions
Thank you Jarrettown members and friends for your prayers, clothing, food stuff and financial support for St. Philips UMC, community lunch and food cupboard. In the past year (2011), we have an increase in food needs from those without access to food. Many Kensington folks use our luncheon and pantry as life lines to their next meal. We are encouraged in our mission at St. Philips by our Jarrettown church mission statement which encourages us to relieve suffering. Because of an increase in demand for food items and coupled with a government reduction of food supply our food stock is at an alltime low. We need your help! We need you to continue your prayers in support of the cupboard and the Wednesday Community Lunch. Food products and financial support are also greatly appreciated. For the January Mission of the Month, we are in need of the following food items: Canned fruit Canned beef stew Canned veggies Mac & Cheese Cereal Canned tuna

Peanut butter/jelly Pasta products Finally your support and prayer for the St Philips food programs is greatly appreciated. In His Service, Elaine Cahlink

JANUARY 15TH HAND CHIME CHOIR

Our member & friend, Bill Baird, has generously donated money to purchase new hand chimes in memory of his wife, Barbara. The 2 octaves of chimes will be used primarily by the children at Jarrettown UMC. This is a blessing to the church as was Barbara. Barbaras many gifts were appreciated by all ages at Jarrettown. Her gift of organization and heart for mission were well used in the many childrens programs, mission projects and family activities she created and carried out with the help of her many recruited friends. On January 15th we plan to play the chimes for the first time during the 11 am worship service.

Youth Ministry
Happy New Year!
We have some awesome announcements for the 2012 year!
1

We have recently branded/named our youth ministry. Now, instead of just being called the JUMC Youth Ministry, we will be calling ourselves THRIVE. We are all
pumped about having a name and an identity for our youth ministry. And THRIVE is not just a name: it is a constant reminder for our students to not just go through the motions and survive their teenage years, but to THRIVE in their lives and in their relationship with the Lord.

We will be having con rmation class beginning in January 2012. If you are in
7th grade or above, you are welcome to take part in our class! You will be receiving more information regarding this class in the coming weeks.

We have made a decision to return Youth Group to Sunday Nights beginning January 8, 2012. I believe that this is in the
best interest of our students, parents and our leaders. We will be splitting up JR and SR High students in a completely new format to allow students to have more individualized attention. JR High students will meet from 5:30 6:45pm. SR High students will meet from 7:00 8:15pm.

We also have an awesome lineup of events planned for the spring. We will be going to Arnold Fun Center, Bounce U, Bowling and Mini-Golf. We also have the Church Retreat at Harvey Cedars on February 24 26.

Our JR High Mission Trip is going to be in Ocean Grove, NJ this year. The dates for this trip are July 22 July 25. All current 6th
8th graders are invited. The cost of the trip is $250.

Our SR High Mission Trip is going to be in North Topsail, NC. The dates for this trip are June 23 June 29. All current 9th 12th
graders are invited. The cost of the trip is $600.

We have our destinations for our mission trips in 2012! The SR High students
will be traveling to North Topsail, North Carolina while our JR High students will be traveling back to Ocean Grove, New Jersey. See the detailed information below about these trips.

A $50 DEPOSIT FOR BOTH TRIPS IS DUE BY SUNDAY, JANUARY 22, 2012 IN ORDER TO SECURE YOUR SPOT ON THESE TRIPS!
Fundraisers in the spring will help lower the cost of this trip. Please contact me with any questions! Blessings! Nick Agazarian Youth Pastor jumcyouth@comcast.net 267 243 5490
