He will share with us the hazards of the Lt. Dave Morey Internet and a PowerPoint presentation on one such real-life case. This is a must for all who browse the Internet or have children who do. Lt. Morey has worked at the Humboldt County Sheri s O ce for 28 years, where he has held several positions, and in numerous communities throughout the county. He has worked as an investigator for HCSO Marijuana Eradication Team, the HCSO Drug Task Force, is also a Field Training O cer and an instructor in rearms, domestic violence, taser, impact weapons, and also a crowd control instructor for CRs Police Academy. Dave and his wife have been married for 14 years and have a daughter.

Commentary
In the United States today, the middle class is the largest class of citizens, though shrinking in numbers since the Obama administration moved into the White House and began taking over or cutting businesses. It is the targeted group today as unemployment gures rise daily. And the poor and less educated are being taught the "blame game" toward the rich. It is a "blame game" that should be directed at the administration, congressional reps (or czars) but, instead, is directed at the very citizens that make capitalism work. Lenin once said, "Revolutions are festivals of the oppressed and the exploited." Marxists knew that Socialism couldn't be "introduced...it emerges out of the most intense..acute class struggle." Divisions of classes of people and within classes helped the Nazi movement grow and I believe the current administration seeks this same division to promote the socialist ("statist"?) agenda. In 1930 and during Stalin's rise to power, radical workers and many youth hated the rich, resented priests and their religion, and schemes were put forth ridding the upper class of their lands, and then began attacks on the middle class. Saul Alinsky, in promoting a socialist revolution, targeted the middle class. He explained, "That is 3/4 of the population and where the power is" and advised "Stir the pain of economic su ering by creating awareness and discontent." (Mr. Obama taught Alinsky's strategies during his Chicago days.) New developments in media aided Hitler's propaganda. Newspapers and magazines promoted the Third Reich. Lenin closed the press of the middle class... any news source that encouraged or incited resistance could be shut down. Chavez did this in Venezuela in the past couple of years. The FCC czar of the Obama administration threatened radio and television at one point and talked of controlling the internet. There are some interesting rich and famous names on the list of Occupy Wallstreet promoters. They seek to pit class against class while they encourage the poor to protest. Why they seek to destroy this country and take away the freedoms that have allowed them to achieve their successes is a question I'd like to ask each one of them. Norman Thomas, a Socialist Party candidate for President of the United States said in a speech in 1944: "The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of 'liberalism,' they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened!" He went on to say: "I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democrat Party has adopted our platform." Margaret Thatcher once said, "The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money." The "progressives" of today were the "socialists" of the past. Let's get busy and save this great nation. To the doubters and younger generation, may I say: "The lobster never notices the water is starting to boil until it's too late!" Let's get busy, protect the election process by getting involved, and get America back on the right track. ur calendar year was launched with exuberance at our January event with Baywood Golf and Country Club hosting. We express our thanks to the club for o ering such an inviting place, to our speaker Fred Nelson, and to our guests and members. We launched our 2012 MEMBERSHIP DRIVE and welcome you sharing our membership forms with family and friends. Extras are available on our website (you can print your own) and on the back of this Redwood Alert. Rancho Cordova was the next destination when traveling to the CFRW-Northern Division Leadership Conference. Six of us dodged the rain for a one-day, jam-packed informative session. O cers attending included Sheryl Fearrien, Gwen Morris, Donna Bellairs, Jean Giannini, Rose Welsh and me. We each joined sessions that covered o cer topics, newsletters, website, public relations, and per capita. We mingled with over 200 women and the guest speaker, shared concerns and got revved up for the year! James Wilson was one of only six founders to have signed both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. He pronounced in his law lectures at the University of Pennsylvania: Far from being rivals or enemies, religion and law are twin sisters, friends, and mutual assistants. Not surprisingly, throughout American history up until the middle years of the twentieth century, government looked positively on both religion and morality. Various states worked out particular arrangements re ecting their speci c circumstances, but in each case, religious freedom was respected while religion was looked upon as part of the common good, a seedbed of virtue, contributing to American society. April 17, 2012, is CFRW Advocacy Day in Sacramento where we can sponsor youth and member attendance to the Capitol. During Advocacy Day, several hundred women from CFRW converge on the state Capitol in Sacramento to lobby legislators (Republican and Democrat alike) to sponsor, support or defeat bills which are important to the issues they follow. Since 1990, we have also invited High School students to participate in legislative action and awareness in our state Capitol, an exciting opportunity for students to see and hear how our state government works. May 4-6, 2012, is CFRW ND Spring Conference, at the Wyndham Hotel, San Jose. Note to candidates and campaign workers: On May 4th, there is a special Boots on the Ground Campaign Workshop available to you. Its purpose is to train candidates, and train those working on campaigns - elected o cials will talk about their experiences, and the skills and organization it takes to win elections. Please consider attending these state and regional events and enjoy the bene ts of conversations with like-minded members. We can also bring guests and showcase Republican Women on a larger scale. In addition to all of the other things we do, our club uses funds from our dues, Republican Angels, Ways and Means and the White Elephant sale, for instance, to pay the initial registration fees. e had a productive day at the CFRW Leadership Conference in Rancho Cordova. Our luncheon speaker, Catharine Baker, shared something very signi cant. DONT VOTE BY ABSENTEE BALLOT!!! As an attorney, Catharine was a volunteer poll watcher and an observer during a recount. What she saw was upsetting. My husband and I did it once, then quit because we were afraid the postal service might lose our ballots. Seems, now, that is the least of our worries. There are quite a few instances of incompetency and at-out cheating that put the wrong persons in o ce. Heres the rundown 1. Absentee ballots can be mailed back or handed in to your precinct on election day. Sounds innocent enough, right? Wrong. You need to know the correct procedure. Your signature must be on the outside of the ballot and the ballot MUST be placed in the special tray for absentee ballots. Many precinct workers dont check for a signature or even think it is necessary. If you are turning in multiple ballots from the same address, they need to know that you are one of the people living at that address. Many poll workers place absentee ballots in the same ballot box as regular ballots. THIS IS WRONG! Absentee ballots are supposed to be scrutinized. If they are placed in the regular ballot box, they cannot be taken out. 2. At the election headquarters, absentee ballots are supposed to go through a speci c procedure to insure that the person it was mailed to is the person who voted. This is where the signature becomes very important. Depending on the particular o ce, ballots are handled di erently, which is against the law. The signature-verifying machines have three levels for checking the ballot signature with the signature on the voter registration card. The o ces, with shabby procedures, set the machines at lowest level and, if deemed necessary, checks only one likeness between signatures. Additionally, the machine throws up four signatures at a time and the worst o ces examine 500 signatures in 20 minutes. Thats one signature every .4 seconds. If your name starts with an M and both signatures have an M that is similar, it is deemed authentic. A viewer is supposed to watch the screen and if they think the signatures dont match, they set them aside for further scrutiny. Then several people examine them individually and if they disagree, the ballot goes to someone else. The best o ces (1) set the machines at the highest level, level 3, (2) took time to really examine each signature, and (3) looked for three points of reference. That is how it should be done. Catharine only observed two o ces that did it the correct way. The vast majority took the easy and lazy way out. While these election o ces were in California, this type of thing happens with every election around our nation. Ever wonder how your candidate is polling 56% days before the election, then is ahead on election night, only to lose during the recount where just mysteriously a trunkful of boxes just happen to materialize during the recounting process, sending your candidate down to defeat. Very strange how the new winner is always a democrat! My suggestionvolunteer to be a poll watcher AND an election o ce observer in the next electionthat is, if you want the person who actually received the most LEGAL votes to take the oath of o ce! There has been an ongoing outcry from the right for photo IDs to prove the voter is legitimate. The Left screams discrimination for minorities and poor people. Studies and the U.S. Supreme Court disagree. Justice Stevens, far from being a conservative thinker, wrote the opinion that photo IDs do not discriminate against anyone. In states with photo ID requirements in place, minorities voted in greater numbers than in states nearby who did not have the requirement. The government could issue an ID photo to anyone who insists they cant a ord one, or who have no drivers license. Funny how there is no outrage against photo IDs to board a plane or attend high school or college! It is time to require photo IDs for ALL VOTERS!

A little boy goes to his dad and asks, "What is politics?" Dad says, "Well son, let me try to explain it this way: I'm the breadwinner of the family, so let's call me capitalism. Your Mom, she's the administrator of the money, so we'll call her the Government. We're here to take care of your needs, so we'll call you the people. The nanny, we'll consider her the Working Class. And your baby brother, we'll call him the Future. Now, think about that and see if that makes sense," So the little boy goes o to bed thinking about what dad had said. Later that night, he hears his baby brother crying, so he gets up to check on him. He nds that the baby has badly soiled his diaper. So the little boy goes to his parents' room and nds his mother sound asleep. Not wanting to wake her, he goes to the nanny's room. Finding the door locked, he peeks in the keyhole and sees his father in bed with the nanny. He gives up and goes back to bed. The next morning, the little boy says to his father, "Dad, I think I understand the concept of politics now." The father says, "Good, son, tell me in your own words what you think politics is all about." The little boy replies, "Well, while Capitalism is screwing the Working Class, the Government is sound asleep, the People are being ignored and the Future is in deep doodoo."

Senate Republicans had presented an entire package of substantive regulatory reform legislation during the 2011 legislative session. The package clearly addressed the systemic aws with the cumbersome regulatory regimes in this state. These were serious measures to not only help bring the burdensome regulatory process under control and make it more responsive to the needs of Californians, but also to review, modify and eliminate obsolete, duplicative and con icting regulations already on the books. Clearly any serious regulatory reform needs to include a review of existing regulationsnot just tinkering with the drafting process. Unfortunately, none of these measures were allowed or even considered by the majority who controls the states business. When a bureaucracy comes along and uses the strong arm of government to impose new rules on business, it is only right that it generates a thorough, reliable scal analysis of the economic impact of that regulation, if implemented. This is especially the case when the economic impact is believed to be more than $50 million statewide. An economic impact of this nature is, in essence, a tax on business which inevitably is passed on to the consumer in the form of higher prices.

Thank you for all your phone calls, faxes and emails to your Senators! SB 810 (Leno, D-4), "Medicare for All," failed to pass by the January 31st deadline for 2-year bills. This is a big victory! We believe that Senator Leno will try to re-introduce legislation similar to SB 810 again this year, so please stay alert! Thank you again for all your hard work!

We encourage you to come every month we meet to stay informed and listen to our great programs on local, state, and national issues! 2012 marks the 74th year for Humboldt Republican Women Federated! January began our HRWF Membership Drive. If there is a small red star stamped on the top of the front page of this newsletter, it is a reminder that we havent yet received your annual membership dues of $30. A printed membership form is included for you above, and is also available on our web site just open & print, or email it to a friend! Your dues enable us to provide our members with quality programs, the HRWF website, and lots of FUN! Several authors popular with Republicans and conservatives are represented, such as Bill OReilly, Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich and Sean Hannity, according to Peter Hannaford, the partys chairman. There are also several books on Ronald Reagan, one by Michael Reagan, and the comprehensive 'Almanac of American Politics.' " Borrowers may check out books for two weeks for $1 each.
