These are: The EFQM Excellence Model brochure The EFQM Fundamental Concepts brochure The Case Study The Assessor Scorebook (soft copy also provided) RADAR: Guidance notes on scoring The Key Factor Exercise An example of the completed scorebook entry for two criterion parts 2. First read the Key Factor Exercise then read the case study through to get an understanding of the company at hand. As you go through the case use a highlighter pen to note important aspects - this will help you identify and record Key Factors. Pay particular attention to the overview at the front of the case study this will also help with the Key Factors Exercise. 3. Familiarise yourself with the Assessor Scorebook, the EFQM Fundamental Concepts, the EFQM Excellence Model brochures and the RADAR: guidance notes on scoring 4. Now turn to the Assessor Scorebook and read the page at the beginning covering how to complete it. Finally read the document RADAR: guidance notes on scoring. You are now in a position to begin your assessment exercise!! 5. To help you with the case study exercise and to illustrate what we are looking for, you will find enclosed an example of a completed scorebook entry for criterion parts 1a and 7a, with strengths, areas for improvement, site visit issues and the scored RADAR matrix. To assist understanding, the examples are presented in a manner that shows how the statements expressing Strengths and Areas for Improvement are linked to RADAR elements/attributes and how Site Visit Issues are linked to Strengths and Improvements. The format used in the examples is therefore slightly different from that used in the enclosed scorebook. 6. Complete the Assessor Scorebook for the following criterion parts: 1e, 2d, 3b, 4c, 5e, 6a, 7b, 8a and 9b as follows: record 3-6 Strengths, 3-6 Areas for Improvement and 1-3 site visit issues on the right hand page. record your scores against the relevant RADAR matrix elements and the criterion part overall score on the left hand page.

7. For the remaining criterion parts not listed in paragraph 6 above, record one Strength and one Area for Improvement in the Assessor Scorebook. Do not score these criterion parts. 8. Note at least 7 Key Themes on page 5 of the assessor scorebook. As you read through the case study and work on the criterion parts, note in the relevant section in the Assessor Scorebook any Key Themes that you consider are emerging. These may be key strengths or key areas for improvement related to the existence in practice of the Fundamental Concepts, pervasive strengths or areas for improvement related to one or more of the Excellence Model criteria e.g. in how people are managed and people related measures undertaken, or pervasive strengths or areas for improvement related to RADAR elements and/or attributes e.g. how well targets are achieved. 9. Once you have completed your assessment fill in the Scoring Summary Sheet at the end of the Assessor Scorebook for the nine criterion parts that you have scored.

It is essential that you do points 6 to 9 thoroughly. 10. Once you have finalised your homework, send your completed Assessor Scorebook and list of Key Factors to the EFQM training department no later than three working days before the beginning of your course. Failure to do so will result in you not being awarded a pass at the end of your course, irrespective of your performance on it. 11. How to send your homework (scorebook and Key Factors sheet)? There are two possibilities: You can send a soft copy by e-mail to training@efqm.org You can send a hard copy by special courier to our office in Brussels.

12. It is very important to note that this is not a last minute assignment. We advise you to start as soon as you receive the pack. Based on statistics, this exercise requires 25 to 35 hours. 13. We find it crucial to mention also that the assessment of your performance during this course is based on the work that you undertake on the case study. Through colleagues attendance on earlier courses and other channels, copies of the 'model answers' to this case study maybe available to you. We strongly urge you to ignore all such 'temptations'. Even cursory insights to the model answers will lessen your learning experience and will additionally put at risk the EFQM Facultys ability to pass you, as a European Excellence Assessor, based on the work that you have done individually on the case. Do let us know if you have any concerns regarding this exercise if required we can put you in touch with one of the course tutors. We wish you all the best! The EFQM Training Team
