Gallagher, owner of Ace Gallagher
Tree Stump Grinding LLC, was walk-
ing his child to school and was alarmed
by the hazardous branches and dead
trees in the paths. At that point he
teamed up with Scott Eveland, Mayor
of Florham Park and Rick Close, dis-
trict manager of the Davey Tree Expert
Company in Morris Plains to come up
with a comprehensive program to deal
with the lack in school budgets for
addressing these types of issues. They
created and put into place the program
that is now called, “One Day, One
School”. The program has shown how
just one day of volunteer work at one
school could make for a much safer
environment for the students.
Konopka, the township Arborist
brought her expertise and phenomenal
work ethic. Phil Infantolino,
Supervisor of Building & Grounds for
Florham Park Board of Ed., Roy Aull,
Supervisor of B&G for Hanover
Township Brd. of Ed. and John
Csatlos, SBA for Florham Park schools
all were key contributors, as well.
The participating One Day, One
School Program Members included:

Cashman Landscape, Davey Tree
Company, DK Tree Experts, A & M
Services, All American Tree Company,
Greenwood Tree Co., Honor Tree
Service, J&R Tree Service, Timberland
Tree Service, Woodland Tree
Company and Zizza Landscape
Construction. Sean Cashman of
Cashman Landscape deserves an extra
thank you for bringing so much equip-
ment and manpower to the project.
Leonardi Manufacturing contributed
their tree industry equipment and
bought shirts for all the volunteers and
the Morris Sign Co. donated large ban-
ners for the event. Whole Foods of
Madison have consistently supported
the events and supplied all the food for
the hardworking volunteers.
There were so many volunteers whose
dedication made this event a success, it
would be impossible to mention them
all. But, their work and contributions
are appreciated by all of us who wit-
nessed or participated in the event. This
program will continue to bring commu-
nities together as it has now taken hold
on a national level. The Marketeer will
continue to share the stories of One
Day, One School so that our readers can
enjoy and hopefully get involved in this
powerful community effort.
