WEDDING LEGAL FORMALITIES WEDDING LOCATIONS

Required documentation
The complete list of documentation outlined below is required of all non-citizens in order to perform a wedding ceremony in Mauritius. It is very important for the future spouses to bring all original copies with them in Mauritius. Copies of all the documents must be forwarded at least six weeks prior to the arrival in Mauritius (by fax or by post). All the relevant documents must be in either English or French language.

Required documentation for marriage

Photocopy of passports for both bride and groom (containing passport number, picture, issue/expiry dates). Photocopy of birth certificates of both bride and groom. If divorced: the former marriage certificate and the divorce certificate Application form must be obtained from the Civil Status Office to be filled by both.

NOTE: If divorced or widowed, please note that the wedding can only be celebrated 300 days after divorce decree/death date. If celebrated before this period, a medical certificate issued in Mauritius should state no pregnancy. Additional costs will apply for the arrangements.

All civil formalities can be handled by local ground handler or hotel team at the resort grm@heritageawali.mu The wedding certificate will be handed over to the ground handler at the end of the official ceremony for completion of the necessary formalities at the PMs office. British citizens do not require such formalities. The Tour Operator should advise the hotel about the content of the advised package & invoicing procedure Rates are in Mauritian Rupees (MRU) inclusive of 15% VAT; the hotel reserves the right to revise the rates in case of modification of local taxes. Packages are quoted for 2 persons and are non transferrable, may not be exchanged and non-refundable Guests getting married at hotel are compelled to book any of the above wedding packages and all optional services like photographer, musician, etc must be organized by and via Heritage Awali only. A 10% commission will be offered to the Tour Operator on the Heritage Awali Luxury wedding package.
