Student Project Competition 2012.

Often the biggest innovations dont come from million dollar R&D centres. They come from college labs, campuses and garages, driven by visionaries with guts, gumption and resilience. Its time for Indias best ELECTROTECH talents to showcase their best, afterall they are the backbone of THE INDIA POWER FACTOR.

India is in the global epicentre of a power revolution. The fast growing Indian economy needs affordable, sustainable and uninterrupted electricity for enduring success, growth and move the Indian economy to greater heights. This drive has propelled the Indian electricity sector as the worlds 6th largest energy consumer, accounting for 3.4% of global energy consumption by more than 17% of global population. The Indian Power sector is going through a US$600 Bn modernisation and capacity addition phase, an immense opportunity for those involved with the power sector covering the entire spectrum of the industry, from generation, transmission, distrbution and consumption. The key characteristic of this phase is the focus on futuristic technologies in the fields of sustainability, conservation, optimisation and environment friendly consumption. Newer technologies and systems like SmartGrids and renewable energy sources form part of this new paradigm.
