Growth Model (2010-2011) Original Model (2010-2011)
Only groups with greater than 40 students are reported
Our mission at Downes is to meet each child at his/her level and move them forward using interventions to remediate/challenge our students by
implementing a core group of mentors/volunteers to support students in small groups or on a one to one basis. At Downes some of our highlights are
Multicultural Night, 24 Challenge /Lunch Bunches, Meaningful Economics Classes, After School Art Clubs, World Culture Academy for Spanish, Lego
League, Math League, and a Robotics Team. We also have students from a local high school working with our first graders to place their stories on
podcasts via the internet. In addition, our music students learn to play the recorder and steel drums in third grade through fifth grade, and fifth graders have
the opportunity to learn how to play a string or band instrument. Theres a lot going on at Downes.
