The class of blood-cleansing herbs is AKA> "alteratives"...herbs that alter the blood .....IE> bloodcleansing herbs.

- Red Clover "an excellent alterative" Red Clover grown in back yards and such generally will need to be re-seeded every 3 to 4 years. The unspoken implication is - where it is found growing in the wild, it tends to re-seed itself. Red Clover "is one of our finest blood purifiers...and it is featured in our 'red clover combination formula'... that contains up to 8 to 10 herbs". He did not give out the formula in the seminar, however, Doc John's SoNH Guide Book does contain such a formula. It contains 12 herbs: 2 parts Red Clover Blossoms (Trifolium pratense) 1 part Chaparral 1 part Licorice root 1 part Poke root 1 part Peach bark 1 part Oregon Grape root (Mahonia Aquifolium) 1 part Stillingia ** 1 part Cascara Sagrada 1 part Sarsaparilla 1 part Prickly Ash bark 1 part Burdock Root (note: root, not stem, not flower, not "herb") 1 part Buckthorn bark ** see this other thread for more info on Stillingia "Queens root". http://z13.invisionfree.com/THE_UNHIVED_MI...=0#entry6439453

To repeat, various parts of the whole herb Burdock can be used such that different parts of the herb are used for different reasons. There will be other examples of this later in the notes, but a for instance: in the early to mid spring when the Burdock plant is experiencing rapid new growth prior to setting flowers, the stems can be harvested, peeled, lightly cooked and eaten "as a delicious vegetable food and containing a natural starch component that Diabetics should tolerate well!". Doc mentioned how he discovered 2 other people aside from himself who "got" the formula through the same way that he did; "from a higher source" as the Chief quoted to Doc John. The other two? Harry Hoxsey, and one Chief Sundance of Idaho falls. Quoting Doc " I learned that Hoxsey's formula was identical to mine....with the exception that he chose to use an inorganic source of Iodine....which is the grounds the FDA/AMA used for shutting him down.... I do not use inorganic sources, so these people could never hassle me on those grounds". At that time (1980) Doc John was very optimistic that his Herbal Combination has "gone international",

which he took as a sign of future good tidings for the natural world of herbs. Apparently Doc had received requests / orders for his formula from people around the globe. He goes into a brief digression mentioning some other peopel (which I''d not previously heard of) who were also apparently big advocates of a Red Clover formula (including a person named Jason Winters") but these people advocated that their formula "contains a special ingredient" which they were reluctant to reveal to the public. Doc John, on the other hand, by and large never held back revealing to the public the many formulas he used / invented. Alteratives continued: - Burdock (to include Burdock Root), is a specific for arthritis, and unculosis "boils" and for Acne. The root will ideally be taken in teh plant's first year. "In the second, third and fourth year, the Burdock plant does not maintain the same potency in it's root system. How to tell when the plant is in it's first year: when it is time to bloom and flower IE> to set and bloom the "bur", the first year plant won't have any flower (no bur)" The flower/bur makes a great tea for the diuretic system "human plumbing". The leaves can be ued as a poultice for Bursitis and other painful conditoins. NOTE: reminder, John Keim, Amish Healer, features Burdock leaves (young) in his natural no-pain dressing he's developed over the past 30 years in coming to devise treatment of severe burn wounds that is much more humane IE> pain-free, compared to orthodox methods. The Burdock leaves themselves are not very good for tea - very bitter! The root is very useful for teas. The Chinese have traditionally eaten the roots as a food / vegetable. The fresh root will generally need to sit to dry for 2 to 3 months so that it can change from it's green "acid" state. Also, it is best to cut up the roots into smaller pieces while it is fresh, for after it dries, it becomes extremely hard. Doc gave a brief anecdote of a man who had been bound to a wheelchair for many years, but then was able to heal himself simply from drinking Burdock tea (for many days on end) - Chaparral "anything that tates as nasty as Chaparral must be good for something". The AMA / FDA does not like people using this herb. Doc digressed into an anecdote to demonstrate the extent the AMD/FDA will go to demonize an herb on their hit list. Two doctors - Hogal (sp?) and Smart, discovered an Indian cured of cancer on his face by using Chaparral. (it was not clarified, but I inferred this to mean a Native American "indian", not an Indian from India). A newspaper article then followed these two doctor's research into this 'cure'. Several people told Doc John about this "wonderful news" but Doc warned them "don't be so hasty, give it about 6 weeks and you will see the 'authorities' suddenly reporting "Chaparral is dangerous". Within a few weeks a report was released by the FDA, discrediting these two doctors for having failed to get some sort of approval for having documented the work they did, and they were immediately relieved of their positions (at University of Utah Hospital). Within a few more weeks, the FDA/AMA released a news report "Chaparral is dangerous". The main ploy being used to discredit Chaprral?: "it makes cancer worse!". Doc then explained what this really meant, using the case of the Indian with healed skin cancer on their face.

Chaparral helps to bring cancer "to a head", so yes, in the beginning, it may appear as though it's actually made the situation worse...but it needs to bring the Cancer to the surface , and if time is allowed, it will eventually expell the cancer all together. - Oregon Grape "Mountain Grape", also, "Rocky Mt. Grape"... "kissing cousin to Barberry - Barberis Vulgaris" Oregon Grape is high in "berberins" that help increase bile flow in the liver and Gallbladder. "the liver, the master gland...draws to it all the toxins and poisons from other glands... the pituitary, the pineal, the thyroid, and all the others in the body. The liver draws to it all these poisons adn NEUTRALIZES them, to be transferred into bile and then discarded through the bowell...as a laxative.... remember folks, wherever there is a Cancer patient, there is usually a compromised Liver....or vice versa, where ever there is a compromised Liver, there may soon be Cancer to follow, so BEWARE!" -Sassafras (which has already been talked about in the earlier discs) "is great for cleaning out the heart and arteries... if used in it's natural state - NOT ISOLATED!, Sassafras acts as a catalysts. NOTE: from my own info (Jag), I know the history of the FDA/AMA demonizing Sassafras as far back as the late 1950's. They sent their nerds into a laboratory to tear apart Sassafras and isolate it's contsituent compounds and ingredients. One such ingredient they succeeded in isolating - Saffrole. They then fed Saffrole to a lab rat in increasing amounts looking to find out how much it would take to kill the rat. Eventually they succeeded, then promptly alerted the news media to announce "WARNING! Sassafras is dangerous, it kills and might lead to cancer!!" Commercial products that include Sassafras in their formula must have all Saffrole removed before they can then be "legally sold". A good example here in the states is "Pappy's Sassafras Tea", sold in a bottled, iquid form. It contains no Saffrole". Doc reiterated the basic advice with Sassafras: "use it in it's natural, wholesome state IE> the bark, bark chips, root bark, and will not cause the harm the authorities claim. There is a qualifier to this: when taking Sassafras on a regular basis, like tea made from root bark, take it no more than 6 weeks at a time, then switch off to some other alterative for 6 weeks, then it's okay to switch back to Sassafras. The regular use of Sassafras is one cup of tea three times a day. - Yellow Dock - "the herb that has the world's highest content of organic iron". Over %40 of the minerals the Yellow Dock plant draws into it from the soil as it grows is iron. For this reason, Yellow Dock is a great natural source for people who are low in B vitamins... "have iron poor blood", or are otherwise lacking pep. The FDA/AMA alternative to Yellow Dock: Geritol. Doc gave the example of how Godenseal - if used in too great of a quantity over time, can deplete the body's stores of B vitamins. "Don't get me wrong, Goldenseal is very good for us, but it is like using fire. Use it in proper proportion and it will heat the house, use it in too great a proportion and the house may burn to the ground. I think the above anecdote was intended to highlight how Yellow Dock can be used to restore Vitamin B content ...if they happened to use too much Goldenseal over a period of time.

- Sarsaparilla "sasprilla", "is high in providing various hormones and estrogen, but is a blood purifier". Doc then digresses back to talking about Sassafras. "Ive seen miracles with Sassafras. I had a patient who had edema - Cardiac Dropsy (heart condition), and nothing seemed to be helping them. I agave them Sassafras tea....rediculous, right?... too simple....sounds silly.... but the edema left, circulation improved and their heart became more sound.....don't worry about the Safrole, just be sure to use the bark whole!...but Sassafras will thin the bloodstream, this is why you need to use it no more than 6 weeks at a time, then switch to something else for 6 weeks...maybe Ephedra, then after 6 weeks of Ephedra it's okay to switch back to Sassafras. - Ephedra - "Brigham"....."Mormon Tea"....."dessert tea". Ephedra has a 5000 years reputation in teh Chinese tradition. The tree tends to grow / look like some old, ancient big dead tree trunk with skinny branches growin upright and out of it. If you take a limb, bend it to break it open and see yellow (*), do not use it. If you see a darker substance, it is okay to use. * when you see yellow, a sort of sap-like substance, this indicates the sap is in it's acid state and not good for use. One of the reasons that Ephedra is such a good alterative - it contains %10 organic copper. This kind of copper, when taken into the body, helps the body produce a solution that leaches inorganic metals from the body! - Garlic - " i guarantee, if you use a lot of garlic, chew it, slice it raw over your salads and such, you will never get flu, cold or pneumonia....nobody will ever come close enough to give these to you There was some comment from the class mentioning a kind of new garlic "tasteless" that was designed (Hawaii ?),but Doc advised "just stick with the natural stuff that has a strong aroma/taste to it". "it takes a pound of peeled garlic cloves to produce 8 ounces of garlic juice, but I do not advise somebody take this much straight, you should cut it (dilute it). Doc gives the quick anecdote of the woman who came into his health store one day. She demanded " I want 8 ounces of pure beet juice". Doc asked "ma'me, would you like me to cut that for you?", and the woman replied "either give it to me or i'll go someplace else that will". Doc complied. He squeezed 8 ounces of fresh beets and handed to the lady, she drank it straight down, meanwhile Doc silently is hoping that the woman gets out of range before she cuts loose. He described how she exited his store leaving purple streaks behind her (out the bottom end) and only made it a few yards up the street before she up-chucked the remains.... the genral advice is, herbs like Beets and Garlic, taken in juice form, are potent, and should usually be taken either in smaller amounts or dilluted with water. Doc then tells the dramatic story of an 18 month old boy with double-pneumona. He got the call late one winter night when the temp was about 30 below zero. Apparently the attending physician had done nothing more than "well, I'm sorry, there is nothing I can do, I'll be back in the morning to sign the death

certificate". The parents then began calling around looking for someone who cares. They were put on to Doc John, who said "we were not too bright, we took the case and asked ' how do we find your place?' ". When Doc arrived, due to the temperatures, there was not enough water to administer the Cold Sheet treatement. He was able to scavenge enough unfrozen water from the toilet tank to make an enema to help clean out the bowell. Then he prepared a garlic paste, using 50/50, peeled and chopped garlic mixed in with plain Vaseline (IE> none of the fancy stuff with bunches of additives). Then the feet are massaged with Olive Oil from the ankles, down the sides and entire soles. This is to prepare and insulate the feet against burns from the Garlic. Then the paste is spread across the feet - on the SOLES only, not up the sides, soles only. The paste is put on 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick. Then lightly covered with a gauze bandage, then loose wool socks pulled over that just to help hold this paste in place. NOTE: the Vaseline helps keep the garlic in a supsension. If a fancier brand is used that contains lanolin or vitamins, these do not create a suspension but will instead absorb into the feet, leaving some garlic behind to burn the feet! NOTE: reference reflexology, "every nerve in the human body terminates at the soles of the feet! The boy was tucked into bed. Doc left. Within 24 hours he got a call from the parents who related the rest of the story. The attending physician showed up the next morning and was rather taken aback to find the little fellow up, grinning, and having a glass of grape juice. Attending phsycian demands "what happened here?". The parents explained. AP rebutts " I want his name, I had not released my signature, I'm going to sue!". The parents pointed out to AP that his only intention for release was to sign their son's death certificate, they kindly asked AP to get the !#*! out of their house. Remember, when applying Garlic / paste to bottoms of feet, cover only the soles of the feet, 'cause Garlic is "soul food". Also remember to coat the feet a good 5 - 10 minutes with olive oil. A person from the audience mentioned an alternative poultice that had been used with success in their family to heal a very sick family member: cottage cheese. Doc agreed saying "that is not as potent as Garlic, but various poultices can be used in a pinch... I know of people who've used bread & milk poutices on feet bottoms with good success!". A slice off a raw garlic clove can be applied to rid warts and moles, but again, pre-treat the area with olive oil first. There was the general comment that brown spots on the skin, especially the hands, are indicative of Liver congestion. If a paste is made and some is left over, it will keep (for how long, it was not said, it was only said "it will keep for a while") if it is kept in a sealed container.
