ABOUT NAVKAR
Background
India is at a very interesting infliction point in its history there is a clear, identified and immediate need for the nation to address the requirement of Vocational Skilling for about 500 million youth in the next 12 years. Whilst the need for skill development has been well established, statistics indicate that bulk of the jobs requirement in the next five years (about 10 Million out of the 90 million jobs) will be created in hospitality and healthcare sector alone. Of these new jobs, more than half would require some form of vocational training & education. India s Human Development Index ranking at 119 out of 169 countries, which is largely due to poor healthcare indicators, is detrimental to its predicted rise as the second largest economy of the world. This is attributed to many reasons such as: Inadequate infrastructure - 90 beds per 100,000 population against a world average of 270 beds Inadequate human resources - just 60 doctors per 100,000 population Vs world average of 140 and 130 nurses per 100,000 population against world averages of 280 Track record of poor public spending on healthcare - less than 1% of GDP for last 30 years Poor healthcare financing mechanisms - 66% percent of healthcare expenditure is out of pocket World Bank estimates that 2.2 % of India s population (around 24 Million people) goes into poverty every year because of catastrophic health expenditure In India Healthcare has 80% spending by private sector. Hence there has to be aggressive private participation along with the government to address these challenges. While there have been many announcements on the private players entering the healthcare infrastructure space in tier II, III cities, Navkar will focus on addressing the huge skill gap in the Human Resources space. With the scarcity of healthcare personnel, even hospitals are finding it difficult to hire fresh candidates. There is a need for over 6.25 Lac doctors and 8.4 Lac nurses in the country by 2012. The complete range of blue collar workers including the ward boys or GDAs are also a huge requirement. In fact for every bed added, there is a need for approximately 8 role holders supporting the bed including the contractual blue collar worker. There is an estimated 9.2 lac beds to be added by 2012 in the country. Tourism in India is the largest service industry, with a contribution of 6.23% to the national GDP and 8.78% of the total employment in India. According to World Travel and Tourism Council, India will be a tourism hotspot from 2009 2018, having the highest 10-year growth potential. This sector is seeing a surge in expansion in hotels and will need to recruit ~ 32,000 role holders in next two years. The total employment in the unorganized sector is expected to be about 420 Million (92%) out of a total workforce of 450 Million in 2008. The extent of informal employment is estimated at about 92%-93% between 2008-2012. The sectors with significant informal employment in services are hotels and restaurants, community, social and personal services such as domestic workers, cleaners, security guards etc. Confidential Page 2

Our Operational Model

The operational model of Navkar Way would be deployed in a hybrid model, which will follow the Cluster Excellence Approach. Each cluster will be mapped as per sector/industry requirement and prioritized on its potential, in the deployment plan. These clusters will have the Centre of Excellence (COE) as the hubs and Skill development Centre s (SDC) as the spokes. The CoE as the Hub will be centralized deployment, which will be company owned and operated and offer long term training programs resulting in degree/diploma/certifications. While the Skill Development Centre as the spokes will be decentralized deployment via a combination of own and franchised operations, which will offer short term skill certification programs. Navin Bhatia
Navin Bhatia, in his last tenure was the Chief Operating Officer of Bharti Learning Ltd., a Bharti Enterprises Company and had steered it into becoming one of the largest global training organizations. He has been instrumental in shaping the Government Skill development space for implementation by private sector. He was a Director on the Board of WorkSkills India Ltd (WSI), the first PPP (Public Private Partnership) company in the Skills space which is a JV between Bharti Enterprise & National Skills Development Corporation (under the aegis of Govt of India). WSI is chartered to skill 20 million youth over 383 districts of India, over the next 10 years. He was also on the board of Centum Africa Ltd, leading it for a presence in 16 African countries with a charter of skilling 140,000 African resources for Airtel and partners in Africa. Experience / Skills: A multi-faceted experience of over 28 years in training solutions, sales and marine operations, he has a unique mix of setting up specialized practices and business units, effective operations in diverse conditions, hands-on field working in the rural markets and leading large teams. His early years in marine operations at sea, had a definitive contribution to his disciplined approach to work, effective decision making and team building. Sales in tough markets of Bihar and Jharkhand for MRF Tyres, gave him a huge exposure of rural and semi-urban markets and left a deep impact by way of defining work ways for these markets. In the last eighteen years, he has created 4 specialized Corporate training and Skill Development companies with global scale and standards NIS Sparta, Reliance NIS Academy, Bharti Airtel Services Ltd, Bharti Learning Ltd., each a benchmark in training, skill development, manpower management services. He is a believer in partnerships for inclusive growth and success through people empowerment. He has been on CII Skill Forum since 2006 and is a member of World Bank Skill Club . Veenu Jaichand
Veenu, in her last tenure was the COO of WorkSkills India (WSI), the first PPP (Public Private Partnership) company in the Skills space which is a JV between Bharti Enterprise (through Bharti Learning Ltd.) & National Skills Development Corporation (under the aegis of Govt of India). WSI is chartered to skill 20 million youth over 383 districts of India, over the next 10 years. She was accountable for operationalizing the 10-year business plan and P&L of WSI. She was also responsible for setting up management review systems and processes on an IT backbone. The role required an orientation to detail, with an ability to be flexible in adopting models and methodologies, appropriate for the business something that she stands for. Experience / Skills: Veenu, with an experience of over 20 years, is training industry s thought leader in Operationalizing Learning Solutions, delivering outcomes for the sponsors and meeting business objectives for all projects. Rajat Rakheja
Rajat , in his last tenure was the National Operations Head for WSI, the first PPP (Public Private Partnership) company in the Skills space which is a JV between Bharti Enterprise (through Bharti Learning Ltd.) & National Skills Development Corporation (under the aegis of Govt of India). WSI is chartered to skill 20 million youth over 383 districts of India, over the next 10 years. With a unique amalgamation of conceptual, analytical and execution skills, he was able to carry out the end-to-end responsibility of field operations across the specialized tasks of community mobilization, training, certification and placements of the multifold numbers of student beneficiaries at WSI. Kakul Misra
Kakul, in her last tenure was the National Head Business for Government Business Unit at Bharti Learning Ltd., a Bharti enterprises company. She spearheads the company s engagement with the Government and PSU sector for Skill and capacity Building initiatives in the Health, Women and Child and local governance sectors. The Government BU under her leadership had chartered a task of accomplishing to acquire and execute projects worth Rs. 500 million in the first financial year. Harish is Managing Director India and SE at Bausch + Lomb. Previous to this tenure he had led teams in various management capacities at Baxter Healthcare, Pepsi and ICI Paints. Harish managed Baxter operations at Philippines before his current tenure. Harish is passionate about contributing to the Healthcare sector of India and is instrumental in recently launching the pharmaceutical business for Bausch + Lomb in India.

Daljit Singh
Daljit is the President -Strategy and Organizational Development of Fortis Healthcare Ltd. He joined the Company in September 2002. He is a gold medalist from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi and holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in chemical engineering. He was a Commonwealth Scholar at the Senior Management Program at the Manchester Business School in 1995. He has over six years of experience in the healthcare industry and over three decades of management experience. Mr. Singh was the Chief Executive Officer of the Company until November 30, 2006. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Singh was the Director in-charge of human relations, communications, external relations and safety, health and environment divisions of ICI India Limited for 28 years.

VTCT is a Government approved Awarding Body offering National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs), Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs) and other vocationally related qualifications (VRQs). VTCT has been in existence for over forty years and has been at the forefront of developing the vocational system of qualifications in the United Kingdom. CII is the largest and most prominent Industry body in India. Navkar is the skill implementation partner for Healthcare sector for government projects, like HUPA or DONER, through CII. Navkar will, also, partner with CII in their agenda to set up and operate Skill Development Centres

TARAhaat
TARAhaat is a social enterprise established by Development Alternatives group in the year 2000. DA, a pioneer sustainable development enterprise, was established in 1983 as a not for profit research, development and action organization. TARAhaat s primary business is to provide skill and job based training and content through a network of franchised and company owned centres (TARAkendras) to reach rural, semi-urban and urban markets. Navkar will leverage this established network of centres to launch its courses in the Healthcare and allied Healthcare domains.

MART
Established in 1993, MART is a pioneer in the rural domain and over the years has also developed as the Leading Consultancy and Knowledge based organization on Emerging Markets. MART enjoys a unique position as an end to end solutions facilitator for both the corporate and development sectors, and brings to the table expertise that have been garnered by successfully handling major assignments for both corporate and development sectors in Indian and abroad.
