Rare Remedies Lyssinum Clinical therapeutics (i) All varieties of spastic paralysis; (ii) Bronchial asthma; (iii) Cerebrovascular

accident; (iv) Cirrhosis of liver; (v) Congenital deaf and dumb; (vi) Congenital sinuses and non-healing or delayed healing of fistulas and wounds; (v ii) Diabetes mellitis; (viii) Epilepsy; (ix) Essential hypertension; (x) Hydroce phalus; (xi) Insanity, Schizzophrenia after prolonged grief; (xii) Microcephaly; (xiii) Mongolism; (xiv) Motor-neurone diseases; (xv) Nephrotic syndrome; (xvi) Optic Neuritis; (xvii) Pancreatitis; (xviii) Pernicious anaemia; (xix) Post-me ningitic or post-encephalitic condition; (xx) Tubercular meningitis. Note : As rabies affects the central nervous system especially the brain-stem, hence diseases in which cranial nerves and Autonomic Nervous System and or the b rain as a whole is affected, we may think of Lyssin. Ailments i) Complaints from excessive sexual desire (--- from abstinence, Conium). ii) It removes the bad-effects of anti-rabies vaccination. Onset a) Generally for the chronic problems, especially in the cases where there are repeated histories of suppressions. b) Insidious development but violent manifestation ; eg. Coronary thrombosis. c) Intermittent manifestation of Symptoms : both physical (eg. Bronchial Asthma patients doing well and then comes sudden spells of status asthmaticus) and men tal (eg. spells of depression followed by normalcy) disorders. d) It can also be a remedy for serious, malignant and destructive diseases. Clinical indications i) S = Suppression (repeated suppressive histories) of miasmatic chronic diseas e : Lyssin prevents recurrences. ii) S = Sense of smell is exalted and acute. iii) S = Self identity is lost. iv) S = Sexual desire: intense. v) S = Sore throat and frequent swallowing. And : Let me present Hydrophobinum through the name of the medicine. H1 = Hypersensitive vagina resulting painful coitus. H2 = Highly impulsive. Y = Yields ailments from excessive sexual desire. D = Dysphagia especially for liquids. R = Rapid changeability of complaints. O = Oversensitivity to external stimulus. P = Profuse salivation. H = Huddled position in sleep. O = Overdue anticipation. B = Bad healing of wounds. I = Ideas : strange. N = No lock jaw in convulsions. U = Urination profuse (Polyurea while bathing or seeing water). M = Manias and Lysophobia (fear of becoming mad). Additional Indications : vi) It also covers pain in bones, like Eupatorium perf, Merc. Sol. Vii) In chronic headache or convulsion during pregnancy, when the headache or the seizures are aggravated on hearing the sound of running water, this remedy i s well indicated. Viii) In cases of epileptic seizures it is characterised by profuse salivation with or without thirst. ix) Dysentery aggravated from seeing or hearing running water, agg. at night. x) It is a remedy for Spasm : (a) seizures (b) exaggerated reflex anywhere with spasm ; (c) dyspareunia ; (d) angina pectoris etc. xi) Sexuality : hyper-sexuality with post mature (delayed) ejaculation. Xii) Hyper-sensitivity to noises -> anxiety -> alertness.

Xiii) Craves : sweets and chocolates. Aversion : meat and apple. Xiv) Dr. Grimmer refers Lyssin for every dog bite: as it relieves the pain inst antly and also heals up the wound. It also takes the fear from the patient. xv) Cannot bear the heat of the sun. Xvi) Strange notions and apprehensions during pregnancy. Xvii) Insane ideas enter in his head; for instance to throw a glass of water wh ich he is carrying in his hand into some one's face or to stab his flesh with th e knife he is holding, etc. Clinical tips Clinical tips to identify lyssin Sensitivity : Sensitive : Sexuality : High Strung : to external vagina desire (+++ ) Anticipation, stimulus ideas, self-centred. Hyper Selfish ;self-centred Int ermittent and periodic Impulsive Violence Recurre nt Spasmodic Lysophobia triad of lyssin Physical Sexual Emotional Violence Lysophobia Impulsiveness Strange ideas Elaboration of Lysophobia Triad As with every person, Lyssin too likes to enjoy the world But the patient gets aggravation from all the natural resources of the world Viz. aggravation from (i) dazzling sun-light (ii) the odour of a flower (iii) on seeing the water-cascade or fountain etc. He likes to enjoy but he cannot Reason for which he shuts himself from the exterior, external environment, family, society etc. He becomes self-centered Selfish Jealous of the people who are healthy and enjoying the beauty and natural resources of the world Out of his (a) self-centeredness (b) selfishness (c) jealousy and (d) ragious attitude. He develops strange ideas Viz. to throw a glass of water unto somebody Resulting which he becomes hyper-impulsive Which is characterised by violence Violence of Lyssin

Physical (to himself, Sexual (viz., Emotional to others: viz. desire sexual assaults, (abusive; curse to cut others, to rapes, sadism, etc.) and swear) stab himself, destructive tendencies etc.) Insidious development but violent manifestation Hahnemann says the hydrophobia is caused by a half acute miasm; this correspond s to the nature of the disease in which the onset is late after the initial infe ction but once the symptoms appear they are violent and sudden. So, Lyssin can be thought in diseases where similar development occurs e.g. co ronary thrombosis - where the process is very slow but has sudden and violent ma nifestation. Chronic diseases having insidious onset or imperceptible beginning but when man ifestation takes place it is very violent and may kill the patient in a few days ' such are the conditions when Lyssin is called for. Some salient clinical conditions :of insidious development but violent manifest ations i) In Epilepsy - acute, violent, short acting chronic disease : insidious devel opment but violent manifestation and recurs. ii) In Hydrocephalus - difficult to diagnose until symptoms are obvious : insid ious development but violent manifestation. iii) Also Tubercular meningitis - slow process, insidious but acute attack whic h can kill the patient : insidious development but violent manifestation. iv) Insanity after long grief etc : insidious development but violent manifesta tion and recurs. Note :- Very good results with mental diseases, obsessional neuroses. v) Pernicious anaemia : slow onset but alarming when develops : insidious devel opment but violent manifestation and recurs. vi) Pancreatitis : symptoms are intermittent but once it manifests fully then p atient can collapse : insidious development but violent manifestation and recurs . vii) Bronchial asthma : violent attacks (status asthmaticus) : insidious develo pment but violent manifestation and recurs. viii) Cerebro-vascular accident : insidious development but violent manifestati on and recurs. Lyssin prevents recurrence Lyssin to be thought of after acute symptoms have subsided and in order to prev ent recurrence. Intermittent manifestation of symptoms Symptoms are intermittent - comes, persist for 2-3 days and then disappear : is a good indication for Lyssin (so severity and intermittency of symptoms); e.g. intermittent fever, gout, chronic appendicitis, manias. Quick healing i) If bitten by a rabid dog the wound will heal much more quickly than a bite f rom a normal dog. ii) Leprosy has this tendency so Lyssin can be thought of. iii) Any condition where wounds heal up very quickly. Spasm i) Profuse saliva with thirst but unable to drink water : due to spasm. ii) Spasm, reflex may be anywhere : oesophagus, larynx, vagina, anus, etc. iii) Wonderful medicine for dyspareunia due to spasm. iv) Also for Angina pectoris, achalasia (spasm of oesophagus), cancer of oesoph agus (with spasmodic pains). v) Spasm of nervous or organic origin. Sexuality i) Sexual desire in males intensely increased : long lasting erection : long co ntinued coitus. ii) In females there may be an aversion.

iii) Impotency after prolonged sexual activity. Hydro-influence i) Frequent urination or urging for urination especially at sight or sound of r unning water. ii) Water influences Lyssin because water causes the reflex to come (ensue). iii) First unable to swallow water : bright objects causes reflex spasm. Peculiar uncommons i) Anxiety from hearing church bells. ii) Desire to cut others : this is as a result of hyper-impulsiveness iii) Delusion that something terrible is going to happen. iv) Delusion of strange notions. v) Fear of falling in the evening. vi) Impulsive to stab his flesh with the knife he holds. vii) Quarrelsome at 4 p.m. Elaboration of some strange mental taints of lyssin Rubric i) Delusion that something terrible is going to happen ; ii) Delusion of strange notions. Elaboration This two symptoms are implied as follows and I have personally verified this in my clinical practice : P/H (past history) of suppression either before or during pregnancy Suppression +--------------------------------+ Physical Emotional Latrogenic and vaccinations Develops strange notions She thinks that a) She is going to give birth of a congenitally abnormal child ; b) There is either I.U. R.G. (Intra-Uterine Growth Retardation of the child) or I.U. F.D. (Intra-Uterine Foetal Death). She constantly dwells on such anticipation and anxieties. Which makes her self-centred. As a result of which she withdraws herself from the World. Impulsive Relations i) Lyssin also antidotes the effects of bite of non-rabid animals. ii) Symptoms of ascending paralysis: Cocculus, Conium, Gelsemium. iii) Paralysis of respiration : Adrenalin, Bell, Gels, Nat. Mur. iv) Consciousness of womb: Helon. Modalities i) Aggravation from rattling sound of the carriage. ii) Aggravation from sun's rays. iii) Aggravation from reflected light, drinking or even thinking of liquid. iv) Aggravation from touch, air current. v) Mental emotions or mortifying news always makes him worse. Allen suggests the well known symptoms which characterise an attack of measles may be taken as guide for its homoeopathic use. As measle's poison has a great affinity for the mucus membrane, the eyes, the ears and the respiratory membranes are the good spheres of Morbillinum's action. Clinical indications i) Everybody has had measles and not everybody has managed to annihilate the di sease. So all sequelae of measles (Camphora, Carbo Veg.). ii) It is also used as prophylactic against measles and to clear up after effec ts of an attack. iii) Complicated eye troubles are pushed off by a single dose of Morbillinum when history of measles is there in the background, viz. conjunctivitis, photop hobia, etc. Clinical tips to identify morbillinum All sequalae of measles : Never Been Well Since (N.B. W.S. ) Measly rash : mimicks measles, Chronic bronchospasm, chronic Alternates with lung congestion. conjunctivitis, abstraction and weakness of memory : N.B. W.S. Measles. Ancestral tips Chronic, dry, hacking, shattering cough developed as a consequence of U.R. I.(u pper respiratory tract infection) during the attack of measles; the child had hi gh rise of temperature, water-baths were given (to control febrile convulsions) and gradually developed lung congestion and the cough has never recovered since, a dose of Morbillinum in 200c potency will rescue the case. Also cardiac arrhythmias and chronic headaches since measles. Miasmatics Psora (++), Sycosis (+), Tubercular (++). Potency of choice 200c and 1M. are the good potencies but you must evaluate the individual suscep tibility of the patient and his/her capability to react to the medicine. Chapter - III Sanicula aqua Appearance i) Emaciation : progressive, child looks old, dirty, greasy and brownish. ii) Skin about the neck wrinkled, hangs in folds. iii) Ill-nourished, weak, scrofulous, and of a dirty greasy appearance (Ref. Chapter - IV Streptococcinum Clinical therapeutics i) Ailments after the the history of Streptococcal infections. ii) Anti-febrile actions. iii) Blood dysentery (Bacillary type) iv) Chorea. v) Chronic phase of serum sickness. vi) Diphtheria. Measles. viii) Rheumatism. ix) Scarlet fever. x) Septic symptoms in infectious diseases. xi) Tonsillitis. xii) Vaccination : N.B. W.S. : especially rickety appearance and malnutrition. Onset Streptococcin is generally used for more acute cases; sudden onset. Clinical indications i) History of Rheumatic fever (Ref. Dr. Tyler and Dr. Foubister) : N.B. W.S. (Never Been Well Since). As rheumatic fever is caused by Streptococcus B-haemol yticus : thus in other words, never been well since Streptococcal infections. ii) Strep-throat or sore throat which is characterised by streptococcal infecti on : this when the patient is either suffering from (a) recurrence of streptococ cal infection or (b) N.B. W.S. Streptococcal infection : eg. bad-effects from s uch infection : Streptococcin in potency can be indicated. iii) Streptococcin has some rheumatic symptoms indistinguishable from Rhus Tox eg. a) worse in wet weather, b) worse on beginning to move, c) better from subsequent motion. iv) For various ailments after tonsillectomy when the patient is pale, thin, da rk below the eyes, no appetite, recurrent catching cold thirstless: Streptococci n in such cases becomes a wonderful remedy. So Tonsillectomy : N.B. W.S. v) Acute bacillary dysentery with haemorrhage and high rise of temperature with toxaemia. The more the blood, the better it is indicated like Mercury. But th ere is no tenesmus or urinary complications of Mercurius, in Streptococcin. vi) In the sequelae of pneumonia: when Sulphur fails, Streptococcin can be thou ght of. vii) Tonsillitis followed by chorea, even rheumatism with a history of rheumati c heart disease in childhood calls for Streptococcin. viii) Chronic phase of serum sickness :Bad effects of Serums like A..D. S (Anti -Diphtheric Serum) : N.B. W.S. ix) Streptococcin also have few symptoms similar to Pulsatilla, like weepy, con solation aggravates, better in open air. x) In varieties of Streptococcal infections. xi) In various types of haemorrhages especially from uterus, when the indicated remedy fails. xii) High rise of temperature with tachycardia. Streptococcin is also successf ul in controlling the febrile convulsion especially in young kids with high temp erature.

xiii) Severe throat pain with inflammation but without pus. Associated with co nstitutional symptoms like weakness, headache, body ache. xiv) Strawberry tongue (white coated and raised papillae). Clinical tips to identify streptococcin Streptococcal infection : Recurrent or N.B. W.S. Tonsillitis : N.B. W.S. (bad effects) A wonderful anti-pyretic (esp. Astringent (esp. blood dysentery) of throat origin) and anticonvulsive. Streptococcin : a triad of Rhus Tox (eg. Streptococcin has some rheumatic symptoms indistinguishable from Rhus Tox eg. (a) worse in wet weather, (b) worse on beginning to move.) STREPTOCOCCIN IS TRIAD OF Pulsatilla (eg. Strep-throat or sore Merc. Cor. (eg. Acute bacillary dysentery throat which is characterised by with haemorrhage and high rise of streptococcal infection : this temperature with toxaemia. The more when the patient is either suffering the blood, the better it is indicated lik e from (a) recurrence of streptococcal Mercury. But there is no tenesmus or infection or (b) N.B. Onset a) Staphylococcin is for acute as well as chronic problems. Onset is generally insidious. b) It acts best when the ailments come during the rainy season and continue upt o late autumn. Clinical indications i) Past History of Staphylococcal infection with pus formation : N.B. W.S. (Ne ver Been Well Since). ii) Succession of abscesses, boils, pimples, etc. of Staphylococcal origin or in other words, when Staphylococcal albus, aureus or pyogenes can be traced in these lesions. iii) Recurrent staphyloccocal lesions over a long period of time and when the s taphylococcal lesions are widespread, viz. (a) Recurrent or widespread acne, (b) Recurrent mastitis, (c) Recurrent carbuncle, (d) Recurrent conjunctivitis, etc. iv) Acne, Abscess, Boils, Fistula, etc. which are characterised by infection wi th Staphylococcus albus or aureus : thus when the patient is either suffering fr om (a) recurrence of Staphylococcal infection or (b) N.B. W.S. Staphylococcal i nfection : eg. bad-effects from such infection; Staphylococcin in potency will t ake care of the condition. v) Staphylococcin is also indicated in dysentery. Acute and chronic cases of ba cillary dysentery with discharge of blood and pus. In chronic cases of dysenter y where blood with mucopurulent discharges does not respond to the indicated rem edies, or recurs or prolongs unduly, Staphylococcin 200 rescues such cases. In t yphoid where there is low sepsis, haemorrhage and muco-purulent stool with fever towards the third week, Staphylococcin rescues such cases. A dose of antipsori c can be given to complete the cure. vi) In varieties of Staphylococcal infections. vii) It may be of interest to know that in the making or extraction of this med icine, the writer, Dr. E.A. Anshutz was compelled to get out of the room several times because of a decided though indefinite malaise. The odour, aroma or effl uvium was ambrosial compound to the atmosphere of the dissecting room with its l umps of putrefaction but it had much greater expellant power not nauseating but sickening and chemically probably due to some of the fatty acids. So Staphylococcal infections (viz. acne, boils, abscess, etc.) associated with malaise : the doctrine of signature ! viii) Staphylococcin does best where weakness of the protective mechanism or de bility due to other than bacterial agencies, eg. overwork, worry, lack of proper food, humidity, etc. is prominent. Clinical tips to identify staphylococcin Staphylococcal infection : Recurrent or N.B. W.S. Anti-dysenteric (esp. when Chronic fistulas : associated there is lots of pus and mucus). with debility. Staphylococcin : a triad of Silicea (eg. chronic skin infections with pus formation). Merc. Sol.
