Director of Programs Telephonics 2008-2012 (radar & communications systems)


Managing personnel and resources for multi-$M engineering / development programs using Earned Value, PERT, Work Breakdown Structure and risk analysis tools to meet P&L targets. Achieved financial & schedule turn-around on a major program for Sweden, avoiding over $1M in liquidated damages. Generated technical and cost proposals, responded to RFPs, wrote ECPs that captured $450K in additional work.

Program Manager - ITT Electronic Systems 2005-2008 (radar warning receivers)


Developed a new application for the industry leader in radar warning receivers. Assessed project feasibility, produced financial analyses and conducted Stage-Gate reviews to adapt radar warning receivers to protect civilian aircraft. Produced proposals and won competitive program valued at $12M. Conducted PDR, CDR and ensured deliverable items were produced on schedule. Developed new form factor (pod) for NATO tactical aircraft, presented proposal to Royal Netherlands Air Force at The Hague; managed $35M in engineering/production programs.

Program Manager - Advanced Acoustic Concepts 2003-2005 (training system)


Managed design, development and production of training systems for sonar operators. Built excellent relationships and managed customer expectations with navy personnel. Superior communications and sales skills enabled the capture of over $16M in followon contracts. Developed project schedules, budgets and Responsibility Assignment Matrix. Held status reviews for project teams, management and customers. Ensured team remained focused on scope, schedule and budgets.

Director of Engineering Viacom 1998-2002 (entertainment & broadcast)


Headed a large consortium of TV entertainment, sports and news providers to obtain international satellite transponders and uplink services. Negotiated over $400M in telecom service contracts. Traveled to Asia and Europe finalizing agreements with France Telecom, AsiaSat, EutelSat and others. Developed inventory reduction plan for surplus European assets, saving $6.5M.

Project Manager - Cubic Toll Systems 1992-1998 (toll collection & processing)
Evaluated proposals, selected vendors, reviewed site plans and work specifications and supervised implementation of the E-ZPass system for Port Authority of NY & NJ. Worked with PANY&NJ personnel and vendors to manage scope, schedules, budgets and ensure on-time installation. Served as liaison to Port Authority upper management, presenting project status, schedule updates and financial analyses.

Project Manager - Cardion Electronics 1987-1992 (radar display systems)


Developed AN/SPA-25G radar display enabling rapid processing & display of data for ships central navigation center. Managed schedules, budgets and personnel on $45M radar program, ensuring profit goals were met. Transitioned an engineering development program to production using tools including: MS Project, WBS and Earned Value. Served as primary point of contact with Navy customer and led proposal team efforts to win additional $30M follow-on award.
