START-AIT GPOAA 2011

LEADERSHIP Seniors Services DESCRIPTION we aim to continue to provide assistance for the graduating class while at the same time empowering students for leadership avenues through the graduation committee and yearbook committee. intensive planning will be the norm in order to fully realize our campaigns, services and activities as we actively coordinate with the administration. This will also be made through thorough consultations among all students by enjoining them to be procreators in the planning process. ACTION TAKEN Service rendered through the formation of the Layag 2012 Editorial Board and Banyuhay, the AIT Graduation committee comprised of senior students organizing the graduation ceremonies and graduation ball. Projects were planned in close coordination with Dean Dr. Miguela Mena and Institute Secretary Juline Dulnuan. This is being done every beginning of the semester in order to level of expectations and determining focus of activities as far as feasibility is concerned. Plans were thereafter communicated to stakeholders. Also, ideas and suggestions were solicited from the students through the meeting with organizations heads; bulletin board posts; freedom wall; and text brigades for batch representatives. Financial statements of the student council released per semester. Request for transparency with the administration communicated. Regular meetings held with the administration. Two college GAs were held where the Dean and Institute Secretary had slots to talk on their respective reports. Open forum always follow thereafter. The second general assembly was held with the presence of Student Regent Krissy Conti reporting on the issues concerning the university.

release of financial statements to show transparency among the students. Also, we also call for transparency and accountability from the administration on fees solicited and other dealings of the institute. efforts will be regularly initiated to foster dialogue among the studentry and raising the student concerns like registration procedures, fees, LCD utilization etc to the administration.

AWARENESS DisseminAIT!

ParticipAITion, Level up!

Information dissemination will be ensured through text brigades, mail blasts, online fora and maintenance of bulletin boards especially when it comes to announcements and issues. we aim to be more involved in the League of College Councils and the General Assembly of Student Councils not only through unity with statements but also by heading specific events. This essentially makes AITs presence more felt inside campus.

Brigades done everytime there are announcements and important advises. Bulletin boards maintained on a regular basis. Online announcements centralized on the AITSC Facebook page. Council participative at the League of College Councils. However, while the AITSC is very much willing to take part in its initiatives in campaigns and activities, the LCC in itself has been perceived to be underperforming relative to that of the previos year. Diliman councils barely convene on the second semester of the year. The AITSC has sent representatives as well to the GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF STUDENT COUNCILS last December 2011 at UP Miag-ao. This is considered to be a leap compared to the previous councils' shortcoming to represent the institute in the past due to financial and logistical constraints. Position paper and primers on the STFAP issue; SONA 2011; and the state of education were made. Council manifested its support by signing the menifesto of unity against budget cut together with almost every student council and organizations in UP Diliman. Protest actions particularly relating to the State of the Nation and Budget Cut Strike were staged and attended. An issue in tourism specifically the labor plight of the PAL Employees Association was tackled through a forum which had a low student participation turnout.

LNT Issues Campaign

Local, National and Tourism issues and events inevitably happen. By drafting statements and providing information materials like flyers and issue primer, we seek an enriched discourse among the students that would lead to decisive action

Conduct of regular Educational Discussions

to make students more conscious and knowledgeable on the current on-goings in the university; the country; and the tourism industry, interactive situationers will be facilitated by inviting speakers and experts.

After some years, educational discussion on issues has been in play in the institute enjoining student organizations as a strategy for dissemination. Led by Education and Research councilor Carl Reyes, this EDs facilitated awareness from the ranks of the students. This project was sustained especially on the height of the Budget Cut Strike. Follow through was not extended extensively as EDs were seen to be relevant only when an issue is at its height.
