RIMS International School and Junior College, Pune celebrated its 5th Annual Day Function on 12th February

2011.This musical extravaganza Kaliedo Fest included many music based performances. The chief guest was Miss Tanushree Rakshit, the founder and director of Flames school of dance. The other guests of honor were esteemed Ustaad Usmaan Khan, a renowned sitar maestro, the eldest son of Ustad Abdul Karim Khan. Graced the musical extravaganza Ustaad Sahib alias GURUJI is a figure of international repute and fame, having played sitar at numerous concerts in India Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Germany, France, Italy and USA. The programme was ushered in by a welcome dance done by the primary class students. The inaugural ceremony commenced with the auspicious lighting of the lamp by all the guests and principal. Miss Madhyami Deshmukh gave a melodious performance on the sitar, enthralled the audience by her talent, and set the evening rolling. The Chief Guest, guest of honor & the members of the managing committee gave the prizes for all round proficiency. The Managing director addressed the gathering with his views about the progress of the school under the skilled guidance of the principal Mrs. Shakuntala Jaisinghani, which brought more clarity on the futuristic vision and mission of the school. Principal Mrs. Shakuntala Jaisinghani made a humble beginning by a warm & heartfelt welcome speech. She presented the school report tracing the progress made in the last few years & said that during the first of existence, the school has taken long strides & has made commendable progress. The tiny tots of the school presented their fountain of talents by dancing to the tunes of birdie dance and enacting a play Goldilocks. The whole show, was a wonderful fusion of eastern & western cultures by a harmonious blend of music rhythm & dance The most riveting performance was the dance drama based on the poem of Sarojini Naidu, the Queens Rival. The dance performance portrayed an assortment of dances from across the world. The drama exuded opulence and grandeur of Persian dynasty, which took the audience to a different time zone. A fashion show with parents highlighting their latent talent added to the fervor of the evening with an amazing enthusiasm and zeal accompanied with lots of applause. The programme rose to a final crescendo with the grand finale and ended in a beautiful resonance lingering in the minds of everyone.
