3. Course objectives/goals: The aim of this course is to teach the students about high voltage technologies and components used in high voltage applications. The students will be taught about the effects of electric field formation in high voltage applications and related measurements.
4.
JUSTIFICATION OF THE PROPOSAL: Energy systems engineers may work in a great variety of power production facilities, ranging from natural gas power plants to nuclear energy power plants. One common feature of all these facilities share is that the electricity that is produced must be processed with attention. Thus, learning about the technologies, components and materials related to high voltage applications is crucial to almost all energy systems engineers who will be involved in power production. 6. RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE COURSES IN THE DEPARTMENT, FACULTY, AND UNIVERSITY: There is no course in the University covering the same topics.
