The cabinet and internal cables of the SHLR are installed and tested before delivery. The field engineers only need to fix the cabinet, install boards and microcomputers, and connect external cables by referring to the installation guide provided. The whole installation process is very simple. All the cables of the SHLR are collected at the rear of the cabinet. All the slots are board-ready when you plug in a board, the board automatically boots up and becomes ready for service. The users can easily add boards in expansion or replace boards during maintenance. The external cables of the SHLR comprises power cables, transmission cables, and signal cables. All the connectors of external cables are located on the top of the cabinet. The connectors have clear silkscreen, which facilitates the cabling. All the software is installed before delivery, and all parameters are configured according to the users' requirements. After hardware installation, the system can run normally upon powered on. The simple hardware installation saves time, and the fast network rollout speeds up service provisioning.

2.8 Convenient Expansion

If the SHLR needs to be expanded, the users only need to add trunk interface boards or expand the memory and CPUs of the microcomputer. The SHLR also provides a software upgrade tool. 4 Services and Functions

C&C08 SHLR9200 Product Description

4.1 Mixed Number Allocation in PSTN

In the PSTN, the SHLR is connected to all the local call-originating switches. The call-originating switches in the local PSTN comprise:

TS Gateway MS LS SSP

The users can configure data on these local switches to decide whether all calls originated from local exchanges are sent to the SHLR for authentication before they are connected. If the LS does not support the SHLR, the MS must support it. The mixed number allocation service allows unified management of subscriber numbers in the coverage area of the SHLR. The subscriber provided with the mixed number allocation service has two numbers: DN and LRN. If the subscriber moves to another residence, only the LRN is changed, and the DN may not be changed. The number portability (NP) is thus realized for terminal subscribers.

4.2 IN Services
The SHLR stores the IN service subscription info of subscribers. All the local call requests (from PSTN subscribers and NGN subscribers) are sent to the SHLR. The SHLR queries the subscription info of the subscriber and then returns the IN service access code. Based on the IN service access code, the LS connects the call to the SSP. The SSP then triggers the IN service.

4.3 Disaster Tolerance

As the central database, the SHLR processes and backs up the subscriber data. When the active SHLR is not available, the signaling system Number 7 (SS7) and other functional entities can exchange signaling. The redundancy SHLR can also work as the active SHLR temporarily. The SHLR provides two disaster tolerance solutions:

1+1 Load-Sharing Redundancy Solution N+1 Mated Redundancy Solution

C&C08 SHLR9200 Product Description

4 Services and Functions

1+1 Load-Sharing Redundancy Solution

In this solution, two SHLRs work in mutual backup mode. That is, either of the two SHLRs shares 50% of the work load. Each SHLR stores the static data of all subscribers. If one SHLR fails, the other SHLR takes over all the service processing.

N+1 Mated Redundancy Solution

In this solution, several SHLRs work as the active SHLRs, and one SHLR works as the redundancy SHLR. The active and redundancy SHLRs store the static data of all subscribers. The redundancy SHLR backs up the data of the active SHLRs to ensure data consistency. If an active SHLR fails, the redundancy SHLR takes over the service processing of the faulty SHLR. The services can be manually or automatically switched over. The SHLR supports N+1 SHLR static data backup based on the BOSS system. The baseline data is backed up in cutover manner, and the incremental data is backed up in the BOSS operating system. The existing SHLRs in the network need not be upgraded.

NOTE

7 Technical Specifications

Performance level A: The system can endure the test load imposed on it without being damaged, and can work normally in the specified conditions. The software or data of the tested switching system (all the data in the memory or being processes) does not change. The system performance is not affected. Performance level B: The system can endure the test load imposed on it without being damaged. The software or memory data does not change. The communication performance is affected. The effect, however, is within the endurable scope (the scope can be defined according to the product situation), and the established communication links are not interrupted. The system, after the test, can automatically restore the normal performance without manual operation. Performance level C: Some of the functions of the equipment are lost during the test. Those functions, however, can be restored automatically in a certain period of time after the test (usually, the shortest time needed from the system restart to service ready). No physical damage or system operation software deterioration occurs. Performance level R: After the test, no physical damage or fault (including software damage) occurs. Damages of the protective device caused by outside interface signals are allowed. After the protective device is replaced or the running parameters are reset, the equipment can still work normally.
