Contact: Rosie Thrash _________) 1. From JVUF parking lot, TURN RIGHT onto 25TH STREET. Proceed to the traffic light at Rev. Abraham Woods Jr. Blvd. (formerly 8th Avenue North). 2. TURN RIGHT onto REV. ABRAHAM WOODS JR. BLVD. Proceed to the traffic light at Carraway Blvd. Get in the left turn lane. 3. TURN LEFT onto CARRAWAY BLVD. Proceed to the entrance ramp to US 31 S. 4. TURN RIGHT onto the ramp to US 31 S. Proceed to first exit, to US 78, 3rd & 4th Avenues S. 5. EXIT at US-78, 3RD &4TH AVE S. Proceed to the end of the ramp, to 25th Street. 6. TURN LEFT onto 25TH ST., towards 4th AVE S. Proceed through the light at 4th, to 5th Avenue South. 7. TURN LEFT onto 5TH AVE S. Proceed on 5th Ave past these landmarks, all on the right: Avondale Library (at 39th St), Avondale Park (at 41st), and the new Avondale Fire Station (at 44th). 8. TURN LEFT onto 46th across from the Jet-Pep station. Proceed to the first unmarked left, TURN LEFT. Follow it around to 47th Street, the garden is on the left. East Avondale Community Garden to Little Savannah Restaurant Begin at: 3rd Avenue South and 47th Street, Birmingham, AL 35222 (To Little Savannah = 1.4 mi / 4 min. Proceed through one traffic light; Get in the left turn lane for the 2nd light.

TURN LEFT on CLAIRMONT and park immediately in front of Little Savannah Restaurant. Little Savannah Restaurant to Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church Begin at: 3811 Clairmont Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 35222 (To MBPC = 7.2 mi. / 15 min. Contact: Alexandria Parrish _________) 1. From Little Savannah, head back towards UAB on Clairmont Avenue South. Proceed about 1 mile. You will pass St. Vincents Hospital on the left, as it changes names to 8th Avenue S / University Blvd. Get in the right turn lane as Clairmont/8th/University crosses under 31/280. 2. TURN RIGHT onto the 31 S / 280 E on-ramp. Proceed on 31 S / 280 E about 2 miles to the 280 E exit towards Mtn. Brook. 3. EXIT RIGHT onto 280 E towards Mtn. Brook. Proceed on 280 E about 1.5 miles to the traffic light at Cherokee Road. Get in the left turn lane. 4. TURN LEFT onto CHEROKEE RD. Proceed on Cherokee Rd. to the first right at Sherwood Road. 5. TURN RIGHT onto SHERWOOD RD. Proceed on Sherwood Rd to the 3rd stop sign at Brookwood Road (Cherokee Ts off here). 6. TURN LEFT onto BROOKWOOD RD. Proceed just over a mile to Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church on the right, immediately past South Brookwood Road. 7. TURN RIGHT into the church parking lot. Drive around to the front of the church, under the portico, and back to the garden. Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church Community Garden to West End Community Garden Begin at 3405 Brookwood Rd, Mountain Brook, AL 35223 (To WECG = 10.6 mi. / 20 min. Contact: Ama Shambulia 215-0688) 1. From the church parking lot, TURN LEFT onto BROOKWOOD ROAD. Proceed on Brookwood Rd. to Sherwood Road. 2. TURN RIGHT onto SHERWOOD ROAD. Proceed to the third stop sign on Sherwood Rd as it Ts off at Cherokee Rd. 3. TURN LEFT onto CHEROKEE RD. Proceed on Cherokee Rd. to US 280W 4. TURN RIGHT onto US 280 W. Proceed on US 280 W about 2.5 miles, through Red Mountain and past St. Vincents Hospital back Downtown to the 1st Avenue North Exit. Get in the right lane. 5. EXIT RIGHT at 1st AVE N. Proceed to the end of the ramp.

6. TURN LEFT onto 1ST AVE N. Proceed west across downtown on 1st Ave N, (about 2 miles), cross under I-65. 7. At the 2nd traffic light after crossing under I-65, BEAR LEFT towards ARLINGTON (stay on 1st Ave N). Proceed on 1st Ave as it crosses Center Street and becomes Cotton Avenue SW. Proceed on Cotton Ave. past Arlington on the left, and it crosses Lomb Avenue. Proceed about 6 blocks past Lomb Avenue to the next light at 12th Street SW. Hemphill Elementary School will be ahead of you on the right. 8. TURN LEFT onto 12TH STREET SW. Proceed 1.5 blocks to the garden on the right. Park on the street. West End Community Garden to Alabama School of Fine Arts Garden Begin at 824-826 12th Street SW, Birmingham, AL 35211 (To ASFA = 3.6 mi. / 10 min. Contact: Rachel Reinhart 914-8172) 1. From 12th Street SW beside the garden, head north on 12th Street SW towards Cotton Ave. SW. 2. TURN RIGHT onto COTTON AVE. Proceed back across West End as Cotton Ave becomes 1st Ave N and crosses back under I-65. Proceed on 1st Avenue N to the traffic light at 18th Street (about 2.8 miles from turning onto Cotton). 3. TURN LEFT onto 18TH STREET. Proceed on 18th Street about 7.5 blocks, or .6 miles to the Alabama School of Fine Arts at 18th and Rev. Abraham Woods. Continue on 18th to the end of the white stone building on the right (Alabama School of Fine Arts), just before passing under the interstate. 4. TURN RIGHT into the ASFA parking lot. Proceed through the parking lot for the length of the school to the stop sign at 19th Street. 5. TURN RIGHT onto 19TH STREET. Park immediately, on 19th Street, by the gate to the school.
