AUTOMATION
I. SYSTEMS OF NUMERATION.
1. In a clothing industry, the number of clothes prepared is displayed in hexadecimal on a four (4) number display : a. Give the highest number of clothes prepared that this display can display. b. Convert this highest number into binary. c. Deduce its conversion into octal. 2. Let us consider the numbers below: P = FEBOC5(16); a. Convert R into octal; b. Calculate S(8) = Q(8) + R(8); c. Convert P into binary; d. Calculate T(2) = P(2) + R(2). II. COMBINATORIAL LOGIC Q = 7654(8); R = 1100011110001(2).

a. Establish the truth table of X b. From the Karnaugh map, determine the simplified expression of X, deduce that of X . c. Draw the logigram of X.
III.
1. Description The system enables to label cartons arriving by gravity from a mouth G. 2. Functioning When the sensor is acted, the labelling cylinder prints the cartons then returns. The transfer cylinder presents the printed carton in front of the evacuating cylinder which ejects the carton towards the pilings post. The transferring and the evacuating cylinder return simultaneously. The system can function under cycle/cycle mode, when initial conditions are fulfilled and a carton is present or in automatic mode (the cycle restarts by itself) when a carton is present at the end of the cycle. 3. Level one GRAFCET.
Put in reference
Start cycle and initial conditions and presence of carton
The system includes: Three double effects pneumatic cylinders 1C, 2C, 3C; Distributors 1D, 2D and 3D. The sensors
The sensors 1S0, 1S1, 2S0, 2S1, 3S0, 3S1 are end of course sensors: The sensor Sp signals the presence of a carton; The sensor SM is the start push button; The sensor Sc indicates that the automatic cycle is set. 5. Work to be done. 1. Give the action associated to stage 3. 2. Give the activating condition of stage 2. 3. Represent a 5/2 electro-pneumatic control distributor by its normalised symbol. 4. Name a pre-actuator that can control the cylinder 3C. 5. Draw the Grafcet viewed from the control part of the system. 6. Complete the table of activation and deactivation of stages of this Grafcet.
