Key Information Sporting Organization

Explanation The public organisation I have chosen is Easton Leisure Centre, which is located in Bristol.

The Sport(s) with which each is associated

Easton Leisure Centre is associated with as series of sports which the customers are allowed to participate in. Such as: y Basketball y Football y Swimming y Health & Fitness (Gym) y Badminton Easton Leisure Centre is managed by two organisations, the Bristol City Council and Everyone Active. Bristol City council didn t sate any aims but the Everyone s Active have sated one which is: Our vision is to be everyone s first choice for activity and we ve made it our mission to encourage everyone to participate in 30 minutes of moderate physical activity 5 times a week . A normal public organisation aim would be to sustain and grown the partnership with customers. The audiences the leisure centre would target is : Young children because they have the facilities to attract the young kids, e.g. the water slides and learner pool. Middle aged adults this is the age criteria where everyone would aim to stay fit and healthy so Easton leisure centre offer a fitness suite, sports hall and even a swimming pool to those people. Older citizens they would also aim for older citizens as they have the facilities for them such as yoga classes and swimming pools. Families because families tend to have days out in leisure centres weather its swimming or performing a specific sport on the courts. Easton have the facilities for this. Easton Leisure centre has choice of facilities for the public to use. For example: y 25-metre pool y Learner pool with a funtastic flume y Fitness suite y Indoor studio cycling y Large sports hall y Crche y Meeting room hire y Pool changing village Easton has many prices for certain criteria s so I have selected out a few which are displayed below. Government Grants Government grants are funds paid by one party (Grant Makers); it can be from a Government Department, Corporation, Foundation or Trust, to a recipient. Sometimes (not always) a non-profit entity, educational institution, business or an individual. Easton leisure centre will most definitely receive government grants. They are not a private organisation, meaning that they qualify to get the grants of the government.

Non Government Grants Non Government Grants are a type of grant which is made by a private party or even a private investor. Easton leisure centre wouldn t receive any non government grants because they are managed by the Bristol City Council. Private company owners wouldn t want there money going into the council.

Member Loans Member loans are a specific company or an establishment, that loans money to another company in order to support or sustain its financial situation. The leisure centre wouldn t need member loans in its establishment as they are run by the council. They would certainly not find there self s in any finical situation.

Financial Institution Loans Financial institution loans are from an institution that delivers financial loans for its customers or members, and then receiving a return on that money. No because if the leisure centre is managed by the council it is unlikely that they would receive financial loans of the bank.

Membership Subscriptions Membership subscriptions are a fee what members pay to the company in order to be part of their organisation. The Easton leisure centre wouldn t need to collect any member subscriptions as it s a public organisation. There is no scheme in paying to be part of the council as that s who it is managed by.

Lottery Funding Lottery Funding distributes half of good cause money raised through the National Lottery. Big Lottery Fund was launched on 1 June 2004, formed from the New Opportunities Fund and the Community Fund. Big Lottery Fund awards more than 600 million in grants every year. Yes the leisure centre can qualify for lottery funding as it is a non profit organisation. But I am unable to display and evidence that the Easton Leisure Centre actually receives the funding.

Private Investment A contract in which accredited investors are allowable to purchase stock in a public establishment through an exemption, allowed by provincial securities regulation. Easton Leisure Centre wouldn t have been given any private investment money. The reason being this is because it s managed by the council and private investors wouldn t want to put money into the council to see changes, it would be pointless. This would only be appropriate for private and volunteer companies.

Donations A donation is a gift given by physical or legal persons, typically for charitable purposes and/or to benefit a cause. After researching this section it is certain I cannot display any results that are relevant to the topic. But is would be certain that the leisure centre have received a donation by physical or a legal person, as they would know its going towards a good cause.

The Sport and Health Development team currently provide funding and facility access passes for performance athletes within the Bristol area through the Springboard Award and the Internationals Card.
