A W A K E N I N G O N COER
Hey all...this is in reference to the posters that recently hit the notice boards
of COER campus.. First of all I'm quite happy to see such an initiative
undertaken by the fellow students of the college; however a few things really
surprised me a lot which actually turned that amazement into
disappointment.
The articulation done was a real setback to the proactive step taken. The
article was displayed as if it was not against the management but against
the injustice done to the students, which i completely found to be an
incorrect way of showcasing it.
[I] can't really say about any awakening but the article has, no doubt, been
able to cause amusement by becoming a laughing stock among a lot of
students..
There has been some where mentioned about the illegal behavior of
management but wasn't the skirmish between the students that actually led
to all this self-justifying. The use of such satirical remarks for the highly
designated people clearly shows the brutish attitude of the critics.. I totally
agree with the cause but will surely not support the way it has been
presented.
I therefore would like to appeal to the fellow students to kindly ponder over
such causes (if they want) and try to stay away from such controversial
matters..

Learn to buy your weapons and equipment quickly
Time is money, as they say. The faster you can buy your weapons and equipment, the faster
you can get out there and get either prepare your assault or mount your defense. Instead of using the
mouse to navigate the menus, use keyboard shortcuts, or buy scripts. Buy quickly, start quickly.
Almost all automatic weapons have massive accuracy penalties for sustained fire. Some
weapons, such as the AK47, are almost entirely useless when the trigger is held down, even at short
range; some, such as the M4A1, hold up better. The key issue is to fire in short bursts, giving a brief
pause between for the accuracy to improve (indicated by the contracting crosshairs). How short a burst
you want and how long a delay depends on the weapon: the Colt is sufficient for three-shot bursts with
brief delays; the AK warrants two-shot bursts with slightly longer delays. One weapon, the UMP, has
almost constant accuracy with sustained fire, but unfortunately does not do much damage. Only hold down the trigger at
Counter-Strike has positional damage; how much damage a hit does depends on where it
lands. Maximum, of course, is the head; normal damage is done to the torso, and considerably less
damage is done to the extremities. For example, the AWM is normally a one-shot kill weapon, but an
AWM hit to the extremities is not fatal. The best place to aim, therefore, is the mid-to-upper chest; hits
will tend to land in the nominal area, thus doing reasonable damage. Given that almost all weapons
have significant recoil, the tail end of each burst will land higher than the chest, which will result in a
better than average number of headshots. Just like in real combat, you want to aim at the trunk.
One's movement speed depends on which weapon is currently readied. Knives and pistols
have the least encumbrance; submachine guns have some; rifles have more; and the Snipes have the
most, requiring the holder to move at a slow walk (which has the side benefit of not making much
noise). When a player has one of these guns and has to make a quick move, equip your knife or pistol
in order to move faster. Switch back to your primary weapon when you reach your destination and
continue the fight. Switch to a knife or pistol for fast movement, and then switch back.
6
R AN D OM IN K
All weapons have some loss of accuracy when they are fired by a moving shooter. This is
especially true of the sniper weapons which are not only less accurate, but in fact nearly useless when
fired while moving. The conflict here is that any competent player knows that keeping moving is an
important part of play -- particularly when a sniper war is taking place. The solution is to stop moving
just a split second before firing; this will allow fully accurate shots even though the shooter was moving
just a moment before. Particularly when using cover, this can be very effective -- you can pop out of
cover, top, and fire, all within a fraction of a second.
Remember: strafe, stop, fire.
Armor is absolutely essential in a game with even somewhat realistic weapons. Without armor, only a
few midsection shots will bring even a completely healthy player down, and without a helmet, any
headshot will. (A helmet won't protect from sniper rounds to the head, but something is better than
nothing.) When buying at the start of the round, always factor in armor cost when choosing your
weapons so that you don't find yourself out of money after you buy your weapons and ammunition.
Always buy the armor/helmet combination if you can afford it; it is well worth the extra $350.
Normally, when climbing (or descending) ladders, a fair amount of distinctive noise is made; if
you're using this to gain access to an enemy-controlled location, this sound can give you away. You can
substantially reduce this noise by holding down the crouch key while moving up or down; tis reduces
the amount of noise that you make to about half: It's still audible, but it's far less noticeable than the
normal volume. Particularly if there is background noise, such as gunfire -- hopefully provided by your
teammates -- this can make a stealthy incursion much more possible. Another little-known tweak is that
you can turn sideways on the ladder (so you're facing the side) and use the strafe keys to get some
added speed when moving on the ladder. For instance, get on the top of the ladder, face off to the left,
and then hold down the backward, strafe left, and crouch modifiers; this increases your movement
speed substantially without making more noise.
Crouch while climbing or descending a ladder; you'll make much less noise.

It's common in first person shooter games for players to hop to avoid enemy fire by making
themselves a harder target. But when under watch from very good snipers, hopping can in fact be
counterproductive. In normal gravity, in the process of jumping, one's path becomes very predictable --
a good sniper will aim at the bottom of the parabola and pick you off as you land on the ground. To
counter this, hoppers can perform mid-air maneuvers in order to try to make their paths less
predictable, but in general (especially with the anti-hopping measures coming in 1.4) it's best to just
avoid hopping when you know you're under close scrutiny from snipers -- it won't help you avoid
getting hit.
Hopping can help make you harder to hit, but not when your opponents are experienced snipers
watching you closely.
When on a map with destructible grates or vents, it's often best to open them with a knife
instead of a gunfire. Even the most sturdy vents will fall to a knife thrust (the alternate attack), which is
reasonably fast and will make considerably less noise than an (un-silenced) firearm. Particularly when
coupled with timing -- open a grating when there is nearby gunfire to cover the sound -- a knife, or at
least a silenced USP or Colt, can make an effective tactic for sneaking up on an enemy.
A knife thrust (or at least a silenced firearm) is the best way to open a destructible grating or vent.

2008 Bihar flood or Curse of Kosi is a monsoon flood on the Kosi River affecting over two million people in
northern Bihar state, India.
On 18 August 2008 heavy flows caused the manmade embankment to fail. The river then abandoned the
prescribed western channel for an old channel near the center of its alluvial fan, but also spread out widely and
inundated towns, villages and cultivated fields on the densely populated alluvial fan.Flooding occurred around the
Kosi River affecting over two million people in northern Bihar. This is perhaps the largest displacement of people in
India since the partition in 1947.The worst affected districts included Madhepura, Bhagalpur, Araria and West
Champaran.
New York Times reported that it is the worst flood in the area in 50 years. India's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh
declared a “national calamity” on 28 August and the government earmarked $ 230 million in aid for the
region. The Indian army and non-government organizations operated the biggest flood rescue operation in India
in more than 50 years. Mumbai Fire Brigade sent its 22 member disaster management team to help in relief work.

ENLIGHTENING THE AMBIENCE…
Teejan Bai
April 24, 1956 (1956-04-24) (age 52)
Born
Ganiyari village, Chhattisgarh
Early life
Teejan Bai was born in April 24, 1956, in village Ganiyari, 14 km
north of Bhilai, to Chunuk Lal Pardhi and his wife Sukhwati .
The eldest among her five siblings, at an early age, Teejan Bai,
heard her maternal grandfather, Brijlal Pradhi, recite Mahabharata
written by Chattisgarhi writer, Sabal Sinh Chauhan in Chattisgarhi
Hindi, she instantly took a liking of it and soon memorized much of
it, and later trained informally under Umed Singh Deshmukh.
Career
At age 13, gave her first public performance in a neighbouring village, Chandrakhuri (Durg) for Rs 10., singing in the
Kapalik shaili (style) of 'Pandavani', a first time for a woman, as traditionally women used to sing in the Vedamati, the
sitting style. Contrary to the tradition, Teejan Bai performed standing singing out loud in her typical guttral voice and
unmistakable verve, entering what was till now, a male bastion .
Within a short time, she became known in neighboring villages and invitations poured to perform at special occasions and
festivals.
Her big-break came, when Habib Tanvir, a famous theater personality from Madhya Pradesh, noticed her talent, and she
was called to perform for then Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. There was no turning back from then on, in-time she
received national and international recognition, a Padma Shri in 1988 , Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1995, and
Padma Bhushan in 2003.
Beginning in the 80s, she traveled all over the world as a cultural ambassador, to countries as far as England, France,
Switzerland, Germany, Turkey, Tunisia, Malta, Cyprus, Romania and Mauritius.
Today she continues to enthralled audiences, the world over with her unique folk singing and her powerful voice; and
passing on her singing to the younger generation.
Performance style
Pandavani, literally means stories of Pandavas, the legendary brothers of Mahabharata, and involves enacting and singing
with instrumental accompaniment an ektara or a tambura in one hand and sometimes a kartal in another.. Her acclaimed
performances are of Draupadi cheerharan, Dushasana Vadh and Mahabharat Yudh, between Bhishma and Arjun.
A SPELLBINDING PERFORMANCE……
The SPIC-MACAY family organized a vocal performance by Shri.Teejan Bai on 20th september,2008 in the college. Rather
like an uncut diamond, full of potential, her earthy approach blended singing, dancing, dancing and narrating the
story. The subtlety of interpretation impressed everyone, with nothing over dramatised. Interestingly, as the performance
progresses, the tambura becomes her only prop during her performances, sometimes she uses it to personify a gada,
mace of Arjun, or at times his bow or chariot, while others it becomes the hair of queen Draupadi, allowing her to play
various character with effective ease and candour.

“The word what”
“”Engineering student”””………well that’s a heavy word aint it……….in actual not for others…….for students itself its
heavy…well for me it was…….
I remember the 1st days of COER…….always early to lectures……trying to do tutorials……(mere case mein toh - always
trying….)…..scared of seniors…..(yeah I remember I was made superman I dunno how many times……seems like I was
perfect for that role……lol but it was fun)…..and yes also the longest year of my life…….an year with so much going
around……new ppl …..new things……and on top of that PADAI……..…..
Since then it was tranquil (Spanish word for cool sounds perfect in this situation no… :D)……slangs……being used as a
language……rampal ka khoka……uski chapayi todna…….then came the mighty trips to roorkee…….(mighty because 90% of
the time humari savari truck thi…. :D )…and since then time passed so quickly that still sometimes I think ….y is it
whenever ur used to something…y it passes so quickly…………like 3years …in a flash……
But only one thing is persistence in that time was ….….a “JOB”…well I should say a
“GOOOOD JOB”.
Yep mi amigos (my friends) for everyone it’s the same……the only thing which is different is the ending . Some ppl like
me go for Masters…..without even caring….about the job……some of them MBA….as in India this is one of the best way to
get a job……..and most of them……interviews……..gd…..etc……(no no no…im not being cynical or skeptical….about this…..its
the fact……since I was askd to write about all this ….so here it is….)
In the lectures….including me …..10 outta 60 ppl used to give attention…..genuinely……(sometimes…all of them if its
interesting)………but…..what ive found from my personal experiences Is …..even if you score marks….where u land is in a
company…….(ok I agree that there r cut offs for company’s selection process) but my point is …..ki Marks and knowledge
is rarely seen .(im not sayin never im sayin rarely….). Exam time ….we all start to muggify…..but actually have you ever
tried to genuinely understand and try to see it functioning in real time……( I don’t think so …… we never have time ) ……
I finished my engineering and it was like I had a feeling that something is missin……(well I was not the topper nor the
first person from below) its like…..when u crave for something and u don’t find it…..uno ….ur stressed……more or less……I
had the degree but not enough knowledge spply in aeronautics…..which I always carved for……I saw ppl boasting about
their work….but …..i think in their back of mind this question must be swaying……”I don’t know this” ……
My whole point of saying this is …… wait this aint ne lecture….. :D its just my thought……
So my whole point of saying is …..fine! THE JOB sooner or later you gonna have it …..but……what about knowledge….what
about ur interest……what about your dreams…… and on top of that if in case u r like me ….. ziddi and perspective (I no it
weired :D ) to achieve of what you want …..whats your planning to do it……….. Now the next thing which comes is how…..
are you prepared to face the problems ( well ask me how much problems I faced)…….are you ready to have a do or die
spirit…????

speed up xp network browsing
The speed of your network connection doesn't just depend on the speed of your hardware. Windows is an operating system
that is designed to work on a variety of different hardware and network setups. Because of the abstract nature of the
operating system, it cannot be optimized for userspecific hardware setups.
Depending on the type of network connection you have, you might be able to tweak your connection so that the speed of
your Internet, as well as your local area network, will be faster. By hacking the System Registry and editing the TCP/IP
parameters, you can finetune the values to take advantage of more reliable, faster Internet connections, such as DSL and
cable.
These next sections will guide you through the steps of increasing both the speed of your local area network and your
Internet connection.
Increasing network browsing speed
Does your computer slow down when you browse your local area network and connect to other computers that are sharing
data? One of the most common causes of this slowdown is a feature of Windows Explorer that looks for scheduled tasks on
remote computers. This effort can take some time on some computers and can really slow down your browsing. The
window with which you are browsing the network may appear to freeze momentarily, as the system is waiting for a
response from the remote computer.
Although this problem is a complex one, the solution is very simple. Instead of having to wait for the remote scheduled
tasks, which is useless information to anyone who is not a system administrator remotely configuring scheduled tasks, you
can disable this feature.
In order to do this, you will have to hack the System Registry and delete a reference to a key so that this feature will not be
loaded. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Open up the Registry Editor by clicking the Start Menu and selecting Run. Then type regedit in the text box and click the
OK button.
2. Once the Registry Editor has loaded, expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE key.
3. Next, expand Software and then Microsoft.
4. Locate Windows and expand that as well.
5. You will want to be editing the main system files, so expand CurrentVersion.
6. Because this feature is a feature of the Windows component known as Explorer, expand the Explorer key.
7. Next, you will want to modify the remote computer settings, so expand the RemoteComputer key and then expand the
NameSpace key to show all of the features that are enabled when you browse to a remote computer.
8. In the NameSpace folder you will find two entries. One is "{2227A2803AEA1069A2DE08002B30309D}" which tells
Explorer to show printers shared on the remote machine. The other, "{D62779904C6A11CF8D8700AA0060F5BF}," tells
Explorer to show remote scheduled tasks. This is the one that you should delete. This can be done by rightclicking the
name of the key and selecting Delete.
Tip:
If you have no use for viewing remote shared printers and are really only interested in shared files, consider deleting the
printers key, "{2227A2803AEA1069A2DE08002B30309D}", as well. This will also boost your browsing speed.
Once you have deleted the key, you just need to restart and the changes will be in effect. Now your network computer
browsing will be without needless delays.
Disabling unneeded protocols
With every computer comes programs installed that you do not need. As with extra programs taking up space, extra
protocols are just wasting your network connection and can actually slow it down. How is this possible? By default, a few
different protocols are installed on your computer to allow for maximum compatibility with other computers on a network;
these protocols each require bandwidth to operate. Most users will not use too many protocols, and their computers will
use up a portion of their connection as they respond and transmit information for these protocols.
Additionally, with extra protocols installed on your network adapter connected to the Internet, you increase your risk of
securityrelated problems. One of the most common risks for broadband users is that they have the Client for Microsoft
Networks networking protocol enabled on their connection. This protocol allows everyone in their neighborhood to
20
Tips n Tricks
connect to the users' computers and view any files that they may be sharing. This fact alone should be a good enough
reason for you to turn off the extra protocols. But with them disabled, you will also save a little bandwidth as well.
Viewing protocols on your network adapters
Viewing the protocols installed and active on your various network adapters is easy. Just follow these quick steps and you
will be viewing them in no time:
1. Rightclick the My Network Places icon on the desktop or in the Start Menu and select Properties. If the My Network
Places icon is not in either of those locations, then go to the Control Panel and click the Network Connections icon that is
shown under the Classic view.
2. Next, rightclick the network adapter with which you want to view the network protocols and select Properties.
3. This will bring up a list of the protocols installed as well as active on your adapter, as Figure 1111 shows. The protocols
that are installed but not active are indicated by the absence of a check in the checkbox.
Disabling a specific protocol
Now that you have the list of installed and active protocols on your screen, you are ready to disable a protocol. To do so, just
click the check box to remove the check. Then click the OK button and the protocol is no longer active on the network
adapter.
I highly recommend that you disable all protocols except for the TCP/IP protocol (also referred to as the Internet Protocol).
Doing so will optimize your adapter for speed and security

Get Together Blunder :
The word you ar e
looking for is... The cultural committee had
“Sadisti c Pleasure
”! ! >:D
a major goof-up in the get
together. From what I came to
know, judges got confused with
the names of participants hence
a wrong selection came in Fresh
face. In simpler words, judges
thought A's name was B and B's
name was A....and they declared
B(which means A) the winner.
This one is huge...and well
hidden I may add .
