ADCs fiber mux cabinet allows carriers to provide DS1 services to customers previously unreachable due to distance limitations from the central office (CO). By extending fiber into the loop, the Soneplex-equipped cabinets can deliver up to 84 lines of DS1 service using multiple transport technologies like HDSL, HDSL2, HDSL4 and T1, offering carriers a cost-effective solution for delivery of T1 based services.
Features:
Three ADC Soneplex Loop Extender chassis Optional Universal Management Aggregator (UMA) for remote management of T1 services Equipped with either Fujitsu FLM-150 or Nortel OPTera 3400 fiber transport Up to 84 DS1 circuits using multiple transport technologies, including HDSL, HDSL2, HDSL4, T1 and future technologies Marconis Environmental Control Unit (ECU) for maximum environmental efficiency at extended temperatures Cabinets are SAFT battery ready with an 8+ hour reserve GR-487 Generic Requirements for Electronic Equipment and Cabinets certified
Description
The ADC fiber mux cabinets allow carriers to extend DS1 services to customers off the fiber access plant by utilizing and integrating fiber transport with Soneplex copper transport products. The cabinet may be placed in the field to deliver cost-effective HiCap services to new end-users, or may be used to re-route HiCap services from CO based delivery, freeing up copper for other services like ADSL.

Benefits:
Using the fiber mux cabinet removes HiCap services from binder groups containing ADSL and re-routes these circuits through the OC-3 cabinet to the end-user allowing carriers to: extend fiber closer to end-user improve quality of ADSL services simplify engineering of ADSL and HiCap services increase addressable HiCap market improve quality of HiCap services deliver HiCap services cost effectively by removing costly regeneration equipment (apparatus cases, doublers)

Description
The Marconi Mesa 2 NT cabinet contains all the equipment necessary to support remote T1 service delivery, including fiber transport, fiber management, DS1 cross connect and transport, environmental protection, power and optional remote management. The Mesa 2 NT provides increased temperature control by an ECU, which ensures equipment heating and cooling at extended temperatures (-40F to +115F external ambient). The back-to-back cabinet configuration allows for front and rear access doors. The first chamber contains three ADC Soneplex Loop Extender chassis for up to 84 lines of T1 service delivery over a variety of transport technologies. An optional Universal Management Aggregator (UMA) provides an industry firstremote access via a hardened hub and gateway. The three chassis are connected to the UMA using 10BaseT connections, which are concentrated onto a T1 and carried back to the CO LAN. The UMA allows complete remote access to the Soneplex systems, providing operations, administration, maintenance, and provisioning down to the circuit level. The information provided by each Soneplex system and transported back to the CO by the UMA gives a wealth of performance monitoring and historical data, enabling test centers to avoid false dispatches, and when necessary, dispatch to fix, not to find. The second chamber contains a cross-connect field with 3M SS block connectors, connector modules, and protector panels. Access is convenient for lightning protection, service turn-up and maintenance. The third chamber houses the ECU, fiber transport and management, and power. One SONET add/drop multiplexer (ADM), either a Nortel OPTera 3400 or Fujitsu FLM-150, is installed in every cabinet depending on the configuration. The fiber feed is scalable to OC-12 as access traffic grows. A fiber splice tray is located above the ADM for fiber management. Cabinets are SAFT battery-ready with an 8+ hour reserve. The entire system is pre-configured by ADC for immediate deployment.
