Jim Porter is a founding Partner of Altoon + Porter Architects LLP He has primary responsibility for . business and project management of the firms Asia business. He brings over 45 years of experience and is an expert in the design and planning of large mixed-use signature buildings, including institutional, commercial, office and historic preservation projects. In international practice, Jim has demonstrated continued success in managing numerous large-scale projects throughout the globe, particularly in Asia. Jim has lectured on design practice in the global marketplace at several venues for the AIA California Council, Urban Land Institute and the International Council of Shopping Centers.

Sun Kingdom Town Center & Villas ChongQing, China Partner-in-Charge for a 36 hole golf community with over 400 residential villas, 30,000 sm of commercial retail, food & beverage, a 100 room hotel, and 2-90 room service apartment. Completed 2009. Far Eastern Department Store Taichung, Taiwan Partner-in-Charge for a 15 story, 150,000 sm department store in central Taichung, Taiwan. The main facade of translucent glass sail with LED screens and lighting provide a lively and dramatic nighttime faade. Currently under construction. Marina City Qingdao, China Partner-in-Charge for a 150,000 sm waterfront marketplace, adjacent to the 2008 Olympic Sailing venue. The project is a combination of open-air and enclosed with a collection of a 150 specialty stores, restaurants, bars, cinema, health club, and roof top food court overlooking Qingdao Bay. Completed 2010. YOHO Town New Territories, Hong Kong Partner-in-Charge for a new town center for a newly phased 240,000 sm mixed-use development in the Hong Kong New Territories including retail, entertainment, food and lifestyle uses with residential towers over retail. Waikiki Beach Walk Honolulu, Hawaii Partner-in-Charge for a new 100,000 s.f. 3-level lifestyle retail center and the renovation of five existing hotel towers and auxiliary facilities. Completed in 2007. Al Mamlaka at Kingdom Centre Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Partner-in-Charge for this innovative three-level atrium retail complex, which includes exclusive shopping areas for families as well as for women. Completed in 2001. Guangzhou FaFa Mall Guangzhou, China Partner-in-Charge for a 2.5 million square foot super regional shopping center with four distinctive precincts for different shopping and entertainment experiences. Currently under construction. Kowloon Station Development Master Plan Hong Kong Partner-in-Charge for the master planning of a 150,000 square meter mixed-use complex over MRTs airport express rail station. Warringah Mall Brookvale. Sydney, NSW, Australia Partner-in-Charge of the master planning phase for a $150 million renovation and expansion of an existing open-air and partially covered suburban regional shopping center.

Taman Anggrek Jakarta, Indonesia Partner-in-Charge of this 700,000 sm mixed-use project combining 2,900 condominium units in 8-36 story towers and retail on six levels. Includes a 1,200-seat food court, ice rink, cinema and community and dining facilities. Completed 1997.
