For admission to MD/MS courses at Govt. medical college and hospital, Sector-32, Chandigarh The University will hold an entrance test for admission to MD/MS courses at Govt Medical College and Hospital, Sector-32, Chandigarh on 06th February, 2011 (Sunday) in the following specialties M.D.: Anesthesia, Anatomy, Community Medicine, Forensic Medicine, Microbiology, Obsttand Gynae, Pathology, Pulmonary Medicine, Psychiatry, Transfusion Medicine (ImmunoHaematology and Blood Transfusion) M.S.: Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Ots-Rhini-Laryngology (ENT) General information and number of seats: The Panjab University will hold an entrance test for admission to three year postgraduate degree courses (MD/MS) junior residents, for the year-2010 in the government medical college and hospital (GMCH), sector-32, Chandigarh on Sunday, February 07, 2010 at Panjab university campus, Chandigarh The total number of seats for admission in the year 2010 are 22, which are divided equally into all India pool and U.T. pool as following All India Pool (11 seats): In compliance of the Supreme Court decision, 50% of total number of seats is reserved for All India Pool U.T. Pool (11 seats): The 50% of total number of seats are reserved for students who have passed their MBBS examination from Medical institution of union territory, Chandigarh The 14% seats are reserved for SC .The prospectus including application form is available for sale weve.20th December, 2010, Monday By hand on payment of Rs 2000/- (Rs 1000/- in case of SC candidates) in cash from post office, sector-14, Panjab University, Chandigarh By registered post on payment of Rs 2100/- (Rs 1100/- in case of SC candidates) through bank draft only favoring the registrar Panjab University, Chandigarh payable at Chandigarh to be sentto the Manager Publication Bureau, P.U., Chandigarh so as to reach him latest by 04th January, 2011 (Tuesday) Last date for receipt of completed applications in the CET cell, Aruna Ranjit Chandra Hall (near post office) Panjab University; Chandigarh is 17th January, 2011 (Monday) up to 4.00 p.m. Submission of application form for test: Application, complete in all respects and in the prescribed envelope, along with the requisite documents should reach on or before 17thJanuary, 2011 (Monday) up to 4.00 p.m. in the office of the assistant registrar, CET cell, Aruna Ranjit Chandra hall (near post office), Panjab university, Chandigarh-160014The candidates, who qualify the test shall have to apply directly and independently to GMCH to seek admission by March 10, 2010 up to 5.00 p.m. He/she should submit the admission form along with attested photo copies of all documents to GMCH by due date. A candidate will not be considered for admission in the college if he/she does not submit his/her separate application form for admission within the above date. Scheme of test: The entrance test-2010 will consist of one paper of 200 marks of 2 hours duration, comprising 200 multiple-choice questions as per following break-up

Basic subjects: Anatomy 15, Physiology 10, Biochemistry 10, Pathology 20,Pharmacology 15, Microbiology 10, Forensic medicine 10, Community medicine 10(total 100 questions) Clinical subjects: Medicine 20, Surgery 15, Ob and Gyane 15, Ophthalmology 10, ENT 10, Orthopaedics 05, Anaesthesia 05, Skin and VD 05, Psychiatry 05, Radio diagnosis 05, Pediatrics 05 (total 100 questions) (A candidate has to obtain at least 50% marks (general category) and 40% marks (SC category)in order to qualify the test) Last Year Info; please check University Notification for Latest Info Pay and stipend: Residency scheme approved by govt. of India is applicable to govt. medical college and hospital, sector-32, Chandigarh under which selected candidates called junior residents will be paid stipend at the following rates or as amended by the govt from time to time, first year Rs. 15,600 per month, second year Rs 18,089 per month, third year Rs 18,693 per month Fee payable by the junior residents will be as per Punjab pattern (subject to revision of fee byPanjab university authority) which is as, first year Rs 22,000 per annum, second year Rs24,500 per annum, third year Rs 27,500 per annum Duties and responsibilities: Duties and responsibilities of junior residents shall be fixed by the institution from time to time. They will be required to perform such work as may be needed in the legitimate interest of patient care in the hospital Leave entitlement: During the term of employment of the junior residents, they will be entitled to following leaves (all kinds of leaves), first year 30 days, second year 36 days, third year 36 days Assessment: At the end of first six months of the admission, each junior resident will be assessed by theory and practical evaluation. Besides, there will be periodic assessment during their tenure and logbook maintained. Submission of protocol and thesis: The junior residents registered for MD/MS course shall be required to apply for plan of thesis protocol to his/her departmental faculty within 6 months of enrolment and submit it at GMCH (academic section), sector-32A, Chandigarh. If a candidate fails to submit the thesis protocol within the prescribed period, his/her registration will stand cancelled. The last date for submission of thesis for the students registered for MD/MS degree will be 6 months before the theory examination. General rules: (i) The result of the entrance test shall, IPSO FACTO, not entitle a candidate to get admission in department concerned where he/she intends to seek admission. It will be the responsibility of the candidate to make sure about his/her eligibility and fulfillment of such other conditions as may be prescribed for admission in the rules and regulations of university andGMCH, sector-32, Chandigarh (ii) The entrance test will be held at Panjab University campus, Chandigarh on Sunday, February07, 2010 at 10.00 a.m. (iii) A candidate desirous of taking the entrance test should ensure that his/her application reaches the assistant registrar, CET cell, Panjab university, Chandigarh-160014 (iv) The following documents attached in the given sequence must accompany the application form, acknowledgement card, main application form, admit card, self-addressed envelopes for admit card and result card (v) Incomplete application forms (in any manner), and those received after 4.00 p.m. on15.01.2010 shall not be entertained under any circumstances, whatsoever, regardless of the fact whether the application is sent by post or through courier or by any other means. Roll numbers to such applicants shall not be issued and no correspondence, whatsoever, in this connection shall be made or entertained by the university. The Panjab

university does not take any responsibility for any postal delay or delay in delivery by courier or by any other means or for loss in transit of the application form. In no case the cost of prospectus for the entrance test including the examination fee, once paid, shall be refunded. The medium of examination shall be English only The candidates shall be required to answer objective type questions on the answer sheet provided for the purpose only, following all the rules/norms as stated on the answer-sheet. The candidates shall be required to hand-over the question booklet and answer-sheet to the centre superintendent. No candidate will be permitted to leave the examination hall/room before the expiry of the time allowed for the examination The candidates shall be required to hand over their answer-sheets and the question papers in full to the centre superintendent even if they have not attempted any question. No page/part of the question paper/answer-sheet is to be removed/torn/taken out of the examination centre under any circumstances, failing which the candidates shall be disqualified from the test For rough work, only the sheets marked rough work at the end of the question booklet/script be used. No rough work shall be done on the answer-sheet under any circumstances. The candidates are not permitted to carry any telecommunication equipment such as pager, cellular phone, wireless set etc. inside the examination hall. Any body in possession of telecommunication equipment will make himself liable for expulsion There shall be no negative marking for wrong answers There shall be no re-evaluation/re-checking/re-assessment of answer-sheets 4-5 days after the test, the question paper and its key will be put on the university website. The candidates can file their objections regarding discrepancies and accuracy of the key, in writing, within 48 hours of this announcement. The valid concerns thus expressed will be given due consideration while evaluation. Within two weeks of the declaration of the result, if a candidate wishes to verify his/her result, he/she will be provided a photocopy of his/her answer sheet on payment of Rs. 10,000/-. In case, a discrepancy is found in the result of the candidate, the result would accordingly be revised and the fee deposited will be refunded. The candidate must ensure that the answers to the questions are attempted on the specifically prescribed answer sheet only A candidate has to obtain at least 50% marks for U.T. pool (general category) and 40%marks for UT pool (SC category) in order to qualify the test(xviii) The candidates, who qualify the test shall have to apply directly and independently toGMCH to seek admission . He/she should submit the admission form along with attested photocopies of all documents to GMCH by due date. A candidate will not be considered for admission in the college if he/she does not submit his/her separate application form for admission within the above date. The candidate should bring all original documents at the time of counseling. Any candidate who creates disturbance of any kind during examination or otherwise misbehaves in or around examination hall or refuses to obey the superintendent/deputy superintendent/assistant superintendent/any other official on examination duty or changes his/her seat with any other candidate or occupies any seat, other than the one allotted to him/her shall be expelled from the examination hall. (Expulsion for this purpose would meancancellation of the entrance test)

(xxi) Any candidate having in his possession or accessible to him/her paper/books or notes which may possibly be of any assistance to him or is found giving or receiving assistance, or copying from any paper/book or note or from any where else or allowing any other candidates to copy from his/her answer book or found writing on any other paper, questions set in the question paper, during examination or using or attempting to use any other unfair means or indulging in any kind of misconduct shall be expelled from the examination hall (Expulsion for this purpose would mean cancellation of the entrance test)

(xxii) The centre superintendent/observer/any other authorized university officer/official shall be comp etent to expel a candidate from the examination centre under instruction nos. 19 and 20 (xxiii) If any answer sheet of a candidate shows or it is otherwise established that he/she has received or attempted to receive help from any source in any manner or has given help or attempted to give help to any other candidate in any manner, the relevant answer-sheet shall be cancelled. The cancellation of the answer-sheet means cancellation of the entrance test. The decision of the controller of examinations (entrance test-2010), Panjab university, Chandigarh in this regard shall be final.
