Prob.1: Determine the output voltage for a two-level half bridge inverter using fundamental frequency switching at 50 Hz and dc link voltage of 100 V. Determine the magnitude of the fundamental component and its harmonic component upto 11th harmonic. Determine total harmonic distortion of the output voltage. Consider an R-L load connected to the circuit with R = 10 and L = 10 mH. Obtain the fundamental and harmonic components in the current waveform and determine THD. Prob. 2: Obtain the output voltage for a two-level half bridge inverter using fundamental frequency switching at 50 Hz and dc link voltage of 100 V. Determine the magnitude of the fundamental component of the output voltage. Use dead time of 1.0 ms and show the output voltage in the graph paper. Determine the magnitude of the fundamental component of the output voltage with the dead time and compare the result obtained earlier. Prob. 3: A generic power converter used as dc-dc converter with a supply of 50 V dc, operating at a frequency of 500 Hz. Determine the percentage duration of the conduction of each switch for duty ratio of 0.8. Determine the average output voltage. With the switches requiring minimum 0.02 ms of switching period, determine the maximum and minimum average achievable output voltage. Compare the result if the switching frequency chosen is 5 kHz. Show the states of the converter in the output. Prob. 4: Determine the average output voltage of an uncontrolled full bridge AC/DC converter supplied from 200 Vrms input AC supply and connected with a resistive load. With controlled bridge rectifier determine the average output voltage for firing angle of 30. Show the states of the converter in the output voltage waveform. Prob. 5: A PWM controlled AC/DC converter is used with the input ac supply of 100 Sin (100t) V. Determine the average output voltage with the fixed duty ratio of 0.6 used throughout the cycle. The switching frequency used is 250 Hz. Calculate the percentage duration of switching of each switch if controlled using generic converter. Determine the maximum and minimum possible controlled output voltage. Prob. 6: A three-level controlled output voltage of an DC/AC converter with the input dc voltage of 100 V generates the pulsed output. 50 % of the duration in the output half cycle generates 100 V and rest 50 % it generates 0 V level. The pulse is situated in the middle of the cycle. Determine the RMS AC output voltage. Prob. 7: Draw the output voltage of PWM controlled DC/AC converter with input DC voltage of 500 V. The switching frequency used with the converter is 250 Hz. It is desired that the output pulses from the converter is generated such that its average value equals to the instantaneous value of the sinusoidal waveform 300 Sin (100t) V.
