Objective and Rules:

Objective
The objective of the game is for the robot to enter a maze, find a box and then exit the maze holding the box in the shortest possible time.

Game Rules
Each robot will enter the maze individually. The game is divided into three stages 1. The Searching Stage 2. The Collecting Stage 3. The Exiting Stage

The Searching Stage:

o In this stage the robot should be controlled by means of a manual control unit operated by a team member. o The robot is placed at the starting position outside the maze, and the operator should wait for the starting signal. o Once the starting signal is initiated, the operator should get the robot into the maze and guide it to the position of the box.

The Collecting Stage:

o Once the box has been reached, the operator should guide the robot to pick up the box and place it in a secure place on the robot.

The Exiting Stage:

o Once the proceeding stage is successfully completed, the operator should immediately disable the manual control unit, initiate the automatic control unit and exit the field. o The robot is then required to find its way out of the maze using a group of sensors and a certain algorithm. o Upon exiting the maze the robot should place the box in the specified location and then stopped, both tasks should be done manually by the operator.

Maximum height of each robot is 100 cm. Maximum area of each robot is 4040 cm (L W). Maximum weight of each robot is 20 kg. All the robots will be checked before joining the competition (dimensions and programming). Only participants that attended at least 2 sessions (not including the introduction session) are allowed to join. All the teams should finish their entire task to join the competition. In case of problems between team members or teams, moderators are the only persons allowed to judge the problem Moderators can exclude team members or disqualify teams under certain circumstances. Moderators judgment is final.

The moderators will choose the place where the box will be placed and it will be the same for all the teams. Each team has a maximum of 3 trials to finish in the game. Each team can only have 4 actuators to work with (motors or pneumatic). Hydraulic systems are forbidden in the game.

Game Field
The field in picture is not to Scale. All field corridors are of constant dimension 50 cm. The box is 1515 cm and it has a 5 cm hole-diameter. The start line (Gate) is the same as the finish line (Gate). The height of the barriers is 50 cm. Barriers are 2 cm thickness.

Grading of Performance
The team with the most points wins the competition. The team that successfully finishes all the stages of the game in the shortest time will be given 50 points (This only applies to the first trial). The team that successfully finishes all the stages of the game in the second shortest time will be given 25 points (This only applies to the first trial). If a robot causes any sort of damage to the field, 5 to 10 points will be subtracted from the team depending on the severity of the damage. These points will be subtracted multiple times if the robot causes damage more than one time. The team with the most economic design will be rewarded 20 points at the beginning of the game. The team with the second most economic design will be rewarded 10 points. Each team is given up to 3 trials, knowing that the final grade of the team will be the average of its grades in each trial and not the maximum grade.

During the Searching Stage:

o Any team that successfully finishes the first stage will be given 10 points. o Any team that will reach the box using the shortest possible route will be given 10 points.

During the Collecting Stage:

o Any team that successfully finishes this stage will be given 10 points.

During the Exiting Stage:

o Each team will be given 5 points for successfully disabling the manual control unit and initiating the automatic control unit.
6

o Any team that will successfully exit the maze automatically from the position of the box, regardless of whether it contained the box or not will be given 30 points. o Any team that will successfully place the box in the specified position outside the maze will be given 10 points.
