ARTICLE1:DEFINITIONS 1.1 1.2 1.3 FormulaOneCar: Anautomobiledesignedsolelyforspeedracesoncircuitsorclosedcourses. Automobile: Alandvehiclerunningonatleastfournonalignedcompletewheels,ofwhichatleasttwoare usedforsteeringandatleasttwoforpropulsion. Landvehicle: Alocomotivedevicepropelledbyitsownmeans,movingbyconstantlytakingrealsupporton theearth'ssurface,ofwhichthepropulsionandsteeringareunderthecontrolofadriver aboardthevehicle. Bodywork: Allentirelysprungpartsofthecarincontactwiththeexternalairstream,exceptcameras, camerahousingsandthepartsdefinitelyassociatedwiththemechanicalfunctioningofthe engine,transmissionandrunninggear.Airboxes,radiatorsandengineexhaustsareconsidered tobepartofthebodywork. Wheel: Flangeandrim. Completewheel: Wheelandinflatedtyre.Thecompletewheelisconsideredpartofthesuspensionsystem. AutomobileMake: InthecaseofFormularacingcars,anautomobilemakeisacompletecar.Whenthecar manufacturerfitsanenginewhichitdoesnotmanufacture,thecarshallbeconsidereda hybridandthenameoftheenginemanufacturershallbeassociatedwiththatofthecar manufacturer.Thenameofthecarmanufacturermustalwaysprecedethatoftheengine manufacturer.ShouldahybridcarwinaChampionshipTitle,CuporTrophy,thiswillbe awardedtothemanufacturerofthecar. Event: AnyevententeredintotheFIAF1ChampionshipCalendarforanyyearcommencingatthe scheduledtimeforscrutineeringandsportingchecksandincludingallpracticeandtherace itselfandendingatthelaterofthetimeforthelodgingofaprotestunderthetermsofthe SportingCodeandthetimewhenatechnicalorsportingverificationhasbeencarriedout underthetermsofthatCode. Weight: Istheweightofthecarwiththedriver,wearinghiscompleteracingapparel,atalltimesduring theEvent. Thevolumesweptinthecylindersoftheenginebythemovementofthepistons.Thisvolume shallbeexpressedincubiccentimetres.Incalculatingenginecubiccapacity,thenumberPi shallbe3.1416. Increasingtheweightofthechargeofthefuel/airmixtureinthecombustionchamber(over theweightinducedbynormalatmosphericpressure,rameffectanddynamiceffectsinthe intakeand/orexhaustsystem)byanymeanswhatsoever.Theinjectionoffuelunderpressure isnotconsideredtobesupercharging.

ARTICLE2:GENERALPRINCIPLES 2.1 2.2 2.3 2.4 RoleoftheFIA: ThefollowingtechnicalregulationsforFormulaOnecarsareissuedbytheFIA. Amendmentstotheregulations: ChangestotheseregulationsmayonlybemadeinaccordancewiththeprovisionsofThe2009 ConcordeAgreement. Dangerousconstruction: Thestewardsofthemeetingmayexcludeavehiclewhoseconstructionisdeemedtobe dangerous. Compliancewiththeregulations: AutomobilesmustcomplywiththeseregulationsintheirentiretyatalltimesduringanEvent. Shouldacompetitorintroduceanewdesignorsystemorfeelthatanyaspectofthese regulationsisunclear,clarificationmaybesoughtfromtheFIAFormulaOneTechnical Department.Ifclarificationrelatestoanynewdesignorsystem,correspondencemustinclude: Afulldescriptionofthedesignorsystem. Drawingsorschematicswhereappropriate. Thecompetitor'sopinionconcerningtheimmediateimplicationsonotherpartsofthe carofanyproposednewdesign. Thecompetitor'sopinionconcerninganypossiblelongtermconsequencesornew developmentswhichmaycomefromusinganysuchnewdesignsorsystems. Theprecisewayorwaysinwhichthecompetitorfeelsthenewdesignorsystemwill enhancetheperformanceofthecar.

Newsystemsortechnologies: Anynewsystem,procedureortechnologynotspecificallycoveredbytheseregulations,but whichisdeemedpermissiblebytheFIAFormulaOneTechnicalDepartment,willonlybe admitteduntiltheendoftheChampionshipduringwhichitisintroduced.Followingthisthe FormulaOneCommissionwillbeaskedtoreviewthetechnologyconcernedand,iftheyfeelit addsnovaluetoFormulaOneingeneral,itwillbespecificallyprohibited. Anyteamwhosetechnologyisprohibitedinthiswaywillthenberequiredtopublishfull technicaldetailsoftherelevantsystemorprocedure. Measurements: Allmeasurementsmustbemadewhilethecarisstationaryonaflathorizontalsurface. DutyofCompetitor: ItisthedutyofeachcompetitortosatisfytheFIAtechnicaldelegateandthestewardsofthe meetingthathisautomobilecomplieswiththeseregulationsintheirentiretyatalltimes duringanEvent. Thedesignofthecar,itscomponentsandsystemsshall,withtheexceptionofsafetyfeatures, demonstratetheircompliancewiththeseregulationsbymeansofphysicalinspectionof hardwareormaterials.Nomechanicaldesignmayrelyuponsoftwareinspectionasameansof ensuringitscompliance.

ARTICLE3:BODYWORKANDDIMENSIONS OneofthepurposesoftheregulationsunderArticle3belowistominimizethedetrimentaleffect thatthewakeofacarmayhaveonafollowingcar. Furthermore,infiniteprecisioncanbeassumedoncertaindimensionsprovideditisclearthatsuch anassumptionisnotbeingmadeinordertocircumventorsubverttheintentionoftherelevant regulation. Forillustrationsrefertodrawings1A17AintheAppendixtotheseregulations. 3.1 Wheelcentreline: Thecentrelineofanywheelshallbedeemedtobehalfwaybetweentwostraightedges, perpendiculartothesurfaceonwhichthecarisstanding,placedagainstoppositesidesofthe completewheelatthecentreofthetyretread. Heightmeasurements: Allheightmeasurementswillbetakennormaltoandfromthereferenceplane. Overallwidth: Theoverallwidthofthecar,excludingtyres,mustnotexceed1800mmwiththesteered wheelsinthestraightaheadposition. Widthaheadoftherearwheelcentreline: Bodyworkwidthbetweenthefrontandtherearwheelcentrelinesmustnotexceed1400mm. Inordertopreventtyredamagetoothercars,anybodyworkoutboardofthemostinboard partofthebodyworkusedtodefinethearearequiredbyArticle3.7.5,andwhichismorethan 450mmaheadofthefrontwheelcentreline,mustbeatleast10mmthick(beingtheminimum distancewhenmeasurednormaltothesurfaceinanydirection)witha5mmradiusappliedto allextremities. Inordertoavoidthespreadofdebrisonthetrackfollowinganaccident,theouterskinsofthe frontwingendplatesandanyturningvanesinthevicinityofthefrontwheels(andanysimilarly vulnerablebodyworkpartsinthisarea),mustbemadepredominantlyfrommaterialswhich areincludedforthespecificpurposeofcontainingdebris. TheFIAmustbesatisfiedthatallsuchpartsareconstructedinordertoachievethestated objective. Widthbehindtherearwheelcentreline: Thewidthofbodyworkbehindtherearwheelcentrelineandlessthan150mmabovethe referenceplanemustnotexceed1000mm. Thewidthofbodyworkbehindtherearwheelcentrelineandmorethan150mmabovethe referenceplanemustnotexceed750mm. Overallheight: Nopartofthebodyworkmaybemorethan950mmabovethereferenceplane. Frontbodywork: Allbodyworksituatedforwardofapointlying330mmbehindthefrontwheelcentreline,and morethan250mmfromthecarcentreline,mustbenolessthan75mmandnomorethan 275mmabovethereferenceplane.

Anyhorizontalsectiontakenthroughbodyworklocatedforwardofapointlying450mm forwardofthefrontwheelcentreline,lessthan250mmfromthecarcentreline,andbetween 125mmand200mmabovethereferenceplane,mayonlycontaintwoclosedsymmetrical sectionswithamaximumtotalareaof5000mm2.Thethicknessofeachsectionmaynot exceed25mmwhenmeasuredperpendiculartothecarcentreline. Oncefullydefined,thesectionsat125mmabovethereferenceplanemustbeprojected verticallytojointheprofilerequiredbyArticle3.7.3.Aradiusnogreaterthan10mmmaybe usedwherethesesectionsjoin. Forwardofapointlying450mmaheadofthefrontwheelcentrelineandlessthan250mm fromthecarcentrelineandlessthan125mmabovethereferenceplane,onlyonesingle sectionmaybecontainedwithinanylongitudinalverticalcrosssectionparalleltothecar centreline.Furthermore,withtheexceptionoflocalchangesofsectionwherethebodywork definedinArticle3.7.2attachestothissection,theprofile,incidenceandpositionofthis sectionmustconformtodrawing7. Intheareaboundedbylinesbetween450mmand1000mmaheadofthefrontwheelcentre line,250mmand400mmfromthecarcentrelineandbetween75mmand275mmabovethe referenceplane,theprojectedareaofallbodyworkontothelongitudinalcentreplaneofthe carmustbenomorethan20,000mm2. Aheadofthefrontwheelcentrelineandbetween750mmand840mmfromthecarcentreline theremustbebodyworkwithaprojectedareaofnolessthan95,000mm2insideview. Aheadofthefrontwheelcentrelineandbetween840mmand900mmfromthecarcentreline theremustbebodyworkwithaprojectedareaofnolessthan28,000mm2inplanview. Furthermore,whenviewedfromunderneath,thebodyworkinthisareamustformone continuoussurfacewhichmaynotbemorethan100mmabovethereferenceplane. Anylongitudinalverticalcrosssectiontakenthroughbodyworkaheadofthefrontwheel centrelineandbetween840mmand900mmfromthecarcentrelinemustcontainanareano greaterthan15,000mm2. Onlyasinglesection,whichmustbeopen,maybecontainedwithinanylongitudinalvertical crosssectiontakenparalleltothecarcentrelineforwardofapoint150mmaheadofthefront wheelcentreline,lessthan250mmfromthecarcentrelineandmorethan125mmabovethe referenceplane. AnycamerasorcamerahousingsapprovedbytheFIAinadditiontoasingleinletaperturefor thepurposeofdrivercooling(suchaperturehavingamaximumprojectedsurfaceareaof 1500mm2andbeingsituatedforwardofthesectionreferredtoinArticle15.4.3)willbeexempt fromtheabove. Nobodyworksituatedmorethan1950mmforwardofrearfaceofthecockpitentrytemplate maybemorethan550mmabovethereferenceplane. Bodyworkinfrontoftherearwheels: Otherthantherearviewmirrors(includingtheirmountings),eachwithamaximumareaof 12000mmand14000mm2whenviewedfromdirectlyaboveordirectlyfromtheside respectively,nobodyworksituatedmorethan330mmbehindthefrontwheelcentrelineand morethan330mmforwardoftherearwheelcentreline,whichismorethan600mmabove thereferenceplane,maybemorethan300mmfromthecarcentreline. Nobodyworkbetweentherearwheelcentrelineandaline800mmforwardoftherearwheel centreline,whichismorethan375mmfromthecarcentreline,maybemorethan500mm abovethereferenceplane.

Nobodyworkbetweentherearwheelcentrelineandaline400mmforwardoftherearwheel centreline,whichismorethan375mmfromthecarcentreline,maybemorethan300mm abovethereferenceplane. Anyverticalcrosssectionofbodyworknormaltothecarcentrelinesituatedinthevolumes definedbelowmustformonetangentcontinuouscurveonitsexternalsurface.Thistangent continuouscurvemaynotcontainanyradiuslessthan75mm: a) Thevolumebetween50mmforwardoftherearwheelcentrelineand300mmrearward oftherearfaceofthecockpitentrytemplate,whichismorethan25mmfromthecar centrelineandmorethan100mmabovethereferenceplane. Thevolumebetween300mmrearwardoftherearfaceofthecockpitentrytemplate andtherearfaceofthecockpitentrytemplate,whichismorethan125mmfromthecar centrelineandmorethan100mmabovethereferenceplane. Thevolumebetweentherearfaceofthecockpitentrytemplateand450mmforwardof therearfaceofthecockpitentrytemplate,whichismorethan350mmfromthecar centrelineandmorethan100mmabovethereferenceplane. Thevolumebetweentherearfaceofthecockpitentrytemplateand450mmforwardof therearfaceofthecockpitentrytemplate,whichismorethan125mmfromthecar centrelineandmorethan675mmabovethereferenceplane.

Thesurfaceslyingwithinthesevolumes,whicharesituatedmorethan55mmforwardofthe rearwheelcentreline,mustnotcontainanyapertures(otherthanthosepermittedbyArticle 3.8.5)orcontainanyverticalsurfaceswhichlienormaltothecarcentreline. OncetherelevantbodyworksurfacesaredefinedinaccordancewithArticle3.8.4,apertures, anyofwhichmayadjoinoroverlapeachother,maybeaddedforthefollowingpurposesonly: a) Singleapertureseithersideofthecarcentrelineforthepurposeofexhaustexits.These aperturesmayhaveacombinedareaofnomorethan50,000mm2whenprojectedonto thesurfaceitself.Nopointonanaperturemaybemorethan350mmfromanyother pointontheaperture. Apertureseithersideofthecarcentrelineforthepurposeofallowingsuspension membersanddriveshaftstoprotrudethroughthebodywork.Onlyoneaperturemaybe addedforeachsuspensionmemberandnosuchaperturemayhaveanareagreater than12,000mm2whenprojectedontothesurfaceitself.Nopointonanaperturemay bemorethan200mmfromanyotherpointontheaperture.

TheimpactabsorbingstructuresdefinedbyArticle15.5.2mustbefullyenclosedbybodywork, suchthatnopartoftheimpactstructureisincontactwiththeexternalairflow.Whencutbya longitudinalverticalplane,thebodyworkenclosingtheseimpactstructuresmustnotform closedsectionsintheregionbetween450mmand875mmforwardoftherearedgeofthe cockpittemplate. Withtheexceptionofatransparentwindscreen,antennaorpitottubes,nobodyworkhigher thanthetopofthefrontrollstructurewillbepermittedforwardofit. Bodyworkbetweentherearwheels: Nobodyworksituatedbetween50mmand330mmforwardoftherearwheelcentrelinemay bemorethan730mmabovethereferenceplane. Allthefuelstoredonboardthecarmustbesituatedbetweenthefrontfaceoftheengineand thedriver'sbackwhenviewedinlateralprojection.Whenestablishingthefrontfaceofthe engine,nopartsofthefuel,oil,waterorelectricalsystemswillbeconsidered. Furthermore,nofuelcanbestoredmorethan300mmforwardofthehighestpointatwhich thedriver'sbackmakescontactwithhisseat.However,amaximumof2litresoffuelmaybe keptoutsidethesurvivalcell,butonlythatwhichisnecessaryforthenormalrunningofthe engine. Fuelmustnotbestoredmorethan400mmfromthelongitudinalaxisofthecar. AllrubberbladdersmustbemadebymanufacturersrecognisedbytheFIA.Inordertoobtain theagreementoftheFIA,themanufacturermustprovethecomplianceofhisproductwiththe specificationsapprovedbytheFIA.Thesemanufacturersmustundertaketodelivertotheir customersexclusivelytankscomplyingtotheapprovedstandards. AlistofapprovedmanufacturersmaybefoundintheAppendixtotheseregulations. Allrubberbladdersshallbeprintedwiththenameofthemanufacturer,thespecificationsto whichthetankhasbeenmanufacturedandthedateofmanufacture. Norubberbladdersshallbeusedmorethan5yearsafterthedateofmanufacture. Fittingsandpiping: Allaperturesinthefueltankmustbeclosedbyhatchesorfittingswhicharesecuredto metallicorcompositeboltringsbondedtotheinsideofthebladder.Thetotalareaofanysuch hatchesorfittingswhichareincontactwiththefuelmaynotexceed30000mm. Boltholeedgesmustbenolessthan5mmfromtheedgeoftheboltring,hatchorfitting. Allfuellinesbetweenthefueltankandtheenginemusthaveaselfsealingbreakawayvalve. Thisvalvemustseparateatlessthan50%oftheloadrequiredtobreakthefuellinefittingorto pullitoutofthefueltank. Nolinescontainingfuelmaypassthroughthecockpit. Alllinesmustbefittedinsuchawaythatanyleakagecannotresultintheaccumulationoffuel inthecockpit. Crushablestructure: The fuel tank must be completely surrounded by a crushable structure, which is an integral part of the survival cell and must be able to withstand the loads required by the tests in Articles18.2.1and18.3. Fueltankfillers: Fueltankfillersmustnotprotrudebeyondthebodywork.Anybreatherpipeconnectingthe fueltanktotheatmospheremustbedesignedtoavoidliquidleakagewhenthecarisrunning anditsoutletmustnotbelessthan250mmfromthecockpitopening. AllreprogrammablemicroprocessorsmusthaveamechanismthatallowstheFIAto accuratelyidentifythesoftwareversionloaded. Inaddition,thefuelmustcontainnosubstancewhichiscapableofexothermicreactioninthe absenceofexternaloxygen. Thetotalofindividualhydrocarboncomponentspresentatconcentrationsoflessthan5% m/mofthetotalfuelmustbeatleast30%m/mofthehydrocarboncomponentofthefuel. Theonlyoxygenatespermittedareparaffinicmonoalcoholsandparaffinicmonoetherswitha finalboilingpointbelow210C. Initiallythebiocomponentsarerestrictedtooxygenates.However,hydrocarbons(asdefined in19.2)andoxygenates(lyingoutsidethe19.4.3definition)ormixturesthereof,whichhave beenproducedfrombiomass,maybeincludedintoFormulaOnefuelaspartofthe5.75% biocomponentsquota,providedthatasuitableanalyticalprocedureisavailablefortheir quantificationandtoverifytheirbiologicalorigin.TheiruseinF1fuelwillbedependenton evidenceindicatingthatthesupplierisgenuinelydevelopingthesecompoundsforusein commercialfuels. FuelsamplestakenduringanEventwillbecheckedforconformitybyusingagas chromatographictechnique,whichwillcomparethesampletakenwithanapprovedfuel. Sampleswhichdifferfromtheapprovedfuelinamannerconsistentwithevaporativeloss,will beconsideredtoconform.However,theFIAretainstherighttosubjectthefuelsampleto furthertestingatanFIAapprovedlaboratory. Increasesinanygivenpeakarea(relativetoitsadjacentpeakareas)whicharegreaterthan 12%,oranabsoluteamountgreaterthan0.1%forcompoundspresentatconcentrations below0.8%,willbedeemednottocomply.

19.8.3 GCpeakareasofthesamplewillbecomparedwiththoseobtainedfromthereferencefuel.

Ifapeakisdetectedinafuelsamplethatwasabsentinthecorrespondingreferencefuel,and itspeakarearepresentsmorethan0.10%ofthesummedpeakareasofthefuel,thefuelwill bedeemednottocomply. Ifthedeviationsobserved(above)byGCindicatethattheyareduetomixingwithanother FormulaOnefuel,whichhasbeenapprovedbytheFIAforusebytheteam,thefuelsample willbedeemedtocomply,providedthattheadulterantfuelispresentatnomorethan10%in thesample.

ARTICLE20:TELEVISIONCAMERASANDTIMINGTRANSPONDERS 20.1 Presenceofcamerasandcamerahousings: Allcarsmustbefittedwithatleastfivecamerasorcamerahousingsatalltimesthroughout theEvent. Camerahousings,whenused,mustbefittedinthesamelocationascameras.Details concerningthesizeandweightofallcamerahousingsmaybefoundintheAppendixtothese regulations. Allcarsmustbeequippedwithfivepositionsinwhichcamerasorcamerahousingscanbe fitted.Referringtodrawing6,allcarsmustcarry(i)acamerainposition4and(ii)acameraor camerahousinginpositions2(bothsides),3andeither1or5. Anydecisionastowhetheracameraorcamerahousingisfittedinthosepositionswillbeby agreementbetweentherelevantCompetitorandtheCommercialRightsHolder. AnypartprovidedbytheCompetitorforthepurposeofaligningacameraorcamerahousingin positions2or3correctlywillbeconsideredpartofthecameraorhousingprovideditisbeing fittedforthatsolepurpose. Anycameraorcamerahousingfittedinpositions2,3or4shownindrawing6mustbe mountedinorderthatitsmajoraxisdoesnotsubtendananglegreaterthan1tothe referenceplane.
