KINGS SPEECH

One of the best Hollywood movies made in a decade. It is truly inspiring as well as motivating to all of us who lose their self-confidence at the slightest of pressures. This movie was made in year 2010 and it won Oscar for best movie and its lead actor, Collin Firth received best actor award for his best performance till date as a king with stammering problem. The director of the movie was Tim Hooper and writer was David Seidler. The story is about a real king, George VI or Bertie as called by his loyal friend or speech therapist, Lionel Logue, enacted by another great actor, Geoffrey Rush. The kind of bond they created together through this movie was the reason behind the great success this movie achieved. The story revolved around the King and his speech therapist. King George VI, was made king by default as his elder brother had to relinquish his post or throne for his two time divorcee girlfriend. As a royal norm, he had to part away with his power and his brother had to take over the role. But King George had the problem of stammering from his childhood days and he was not comfortable in giving any speeches as shown at the starting of the movie. The growing years under solace of his nanny and being kept alone devoid of any friends made him move into a shell of his own where he was fighting with himself. All his likes were superimposed by his fathers wishes and in a way he became quite stubborn, and reluctant to open up. But his wife through a reference from her friend made him visit, Mr. Lionel Logue, who actually changed his life . He made him do all the absurd things in the world, made him aware of the need of a friend, and actually helped him to overcome his shortcomings by motivating him.

As the movie unfolds, we can see that, King as a trait of his royal lineage was very arrogant in nature and used to lose his temper at the slightest of instances. But his Lionel too was quite stubborn and he made king to dance at his tunes. But all this was done in a positive manner. Actually, Lionel was a theatre artist from Australia, who used to rehearse war returned soldiers and made them to come out of their fear. Once he and his son had went to Wimberley stadium to hear kings speech, where our main protagonist faltered. There he made a resolution to help out his king come out of his weakness. And his persuasiveness and dedication actually paid of as king totally devoted himself to his teachings and was thus successful at the end. Another important character was of Duchess of York, wife of King George VI, who through out was the main pillar of support for her husband. It was she who actually arranged the speech therapist and helped her husband to come out strongly out of his problem and thus he was able to give a truly inspirational speech to his countrymen during the crisis of Second World War. The movie actually motivates you to work hard towards your goal and to be determined enough to go to any lengths to achieve it. And the character of Lionel actually, shows you the basic rule of life, Where there is a will, there is a way, as his determination and hard work made a stubborn and person of high lineage to listen to his advices and follow it properly. Truly a great movie.
