SOCIO-ECONOMIC ASPECT Objective: The objective of this study is to determine the benefits and advantages that this project

will be able to contribute to the university, community, and government. I. To the university: A. Additional income to the Ateneo de Zamboanga University The business is proposed to be established inside the school campus for us to able to serve the college students who are our target market. It will be located on the 2nd floor of the MS Hall. Occupying a space in the campus entails a monthly rental fee. This rental fee will be exclusive of the monthly dues for the light and water payments. Thus, the entire monthly rental fee that the business will be paying can add to the income the school will be generating to help in the operations of the university, more specifically in the operations of the cooperative overseeing the canteen or the Caf Atenista. II. To the community: A. Employment The establishment of the business would help create job opportunities for the people of Zamboanga City. The establishment will need 5 workers. One will be the cashier, in-charge of all daily cash receipts; he/she should also help in serving the customers. Two (2) employees will be tasked to deliver customer orders anywhere in the campus. However, if there are no deliveries to be made, they should help in the cart. The other 1 employee will be full-time in serving the customers in the cart. Residents that meet job qualifications can apply and this would help them earn a living. As a result, this will help reduce the number of unemployment the city is currently facing. As the business grows, from a cart to a kiosk, from a kiosk to a shop, more labor force would be needed, and thus more workers would be given jobs. B. Demand for raw materials Helping the local producers of coffee is one of the main reasons why we decided to conduct this study. We know that coffee has been, and still is one of the drinks most Filipino takes every morning in starting their day. Instead of purchasing instant coffees

which are internationally produced, we would like to encourage the residents to patronize our native coffee which Zamboanga City and other near by localities are capable of producing. Below is a reliable data from the Bureau of Agricultural Statistics which clearly shows that there really is an abundant supply of coffee. In addition, all the raw materials and other supplies will also be acquired by the business from suppliers just found within the City. III. To the government: A. Additional income to the local government The existence of the business would help give additional income to the local government through the taxes that the business will be obliged to pay. It will realize earnings through the application of business permits or Mayors permit. The business will have to pay for a lot processing fees in applying for a permit to operate, these includes fees such as community residence tax, barangay clearance, police clearance, fire inspection clearance etc., and above all the municipal license. The business will have to renew their license every year. B. Additional income to the National Government Aside from the local government, the national government through the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) will also realize earnings. This would be in the form of taxes that the are applicable to the business. Firstly, the business will have to pay the annual registration fee. Secondly, it will be subject to the monthly percentage tax which is based on the monthly gross sales or receipts that will be earned by the business. In addition to that, the government can also augment their source of income through the annual income tax return based in the annual net income of the business. These tax collections entail that the higher the income the government would generate the more services and programs it can provide to the general public. These in turn would help uplift the condition and overall welfare of the people in the country as a whole.
