Thank you for purchasing T-BoxN12R from Teltonika Ltd. We hope you will be happy using this product.

Please find a few minutes to read this Quick Start Guide before beginning to work with T-BoxN12R. This could prevent unexpected problems and save your precious time. T-BoxN12R was designed for M2M (machine-to-machine) applications and other wireless solutions. Integrated Nokia 12 GSM module enables flexible wireless communication over GSM network. T-BoxN12R is an open architecture device, which is fully programmable and allows you to adapt it to your own requirements and perform very special tasks.

HOW TO START QUICKLY? 1. Hardware setup 1.1. Physical mounting j) Antenna. Screw the supplied GSM antenna to the socket which is on the left side of your device (shown in Figure 1). Don't place the GSM antenna in metal case, as the signal will be very weak. k) SIM card. Insert SIM card to the device (slot is on the front panel) and ensure that you push the SIM card fully to the end. Please be careful not to move the card during device operation, as this would drop any active connections and a modem reboot will be required. The contacts of the SIM card should be facing downwards. l) The case. The plastic case of T-BoxN12R is light and suitable for fitting with electronic instruments that can hook on to the DIN EN 50022. Use a screwdriver to pull the red plastic hook back and then T-BoxN12R can be easily mounted on the rails. 1.2. Measuring analog voltages If you want to measure analog voltage (voltage range is 0..27 Volts), plug the wire into one of the analog inputs (AIN1..3). Connect ground to the analog input ground. 1.3. Switching digital outputs T-BoxN12R allows control of connected devices by open-collector outputs. There are eight outputs (OUT2...0UT9) in T-BoxN12R. Use the wires to connect these outputs to your device. Outputs can drive up to 70mA or 200mW load. For high-power devices, we recommend you to use our product T-BoxRelay, which enables you to drive up to eight high power (up to 250V, 10 A each) devices and have secure and reliable control. 1.4. Connecting digital inputs If you want to have mobile monitoring of a device connect it to the one of T-BoxN12R inputs. Connect the digital input slot (you can connect 7 inputs) to a supervisory device with wires. On T-BoxN12R it is marked as IN5 (IN7...11) and a separate ground for digital inputs is marked as 4-. in case optical isolation is not needed, the digital input ground and common ground can be connected together. If your device outputs voltage in the range of 5..24V, T-BoxN12R will read it as 1 (True). If the device outputs 0-4.99 V, T-BoxN12R will read 0 (False). 1.5. Connecting serial ports "PORT 1/2" "PORT 1/2" "PORT 3" T-BoxN12R provides three ^"^-^Gable RS232 ports: Port 1, which is Connector^--^ "PORT1" PORT1 used for AT commands by PORT2 default, Port 2 which is used as "PORT 2/3" PORT3 system port (M2M protocol to "PORT 2/3" configure Nokia 12) and Port 3 which is controlled by Java applications on the Tablel. Which cable to use and where to plug it? Nokia 12 module. To connect the port, plug the RJ45-DB9F cable (supplied in the package) to one of your PC's serial ports. Use Table 1 to choose the right cable and the right socket. 1.6. Powering upT-BoxN12R When the 1.1.-1.5. tasks are completed and all connections securely wired, plug the DC adapter (optionally provided in the package) to the AC outlet. Watch the polarity! The ground for power supply is marked as "-", the positive terminal is marked as "+". Green "Power" LED switches on if power supply is successfully connected.

2. Frequently Asked Questions Question 1: Answer: T-BoxN12R doesn't power up If the device powers up correctly, the "PWR" LED should be always on and output LEDs should be blinking one after another in a row. Please make sure you have connected the power supply wires to T-BoxN12R according the scheme on the device and that these wires are firm in the connector. Please make sure that your power supply (AC/DC converter or battery) is at least 12V and at least 500 mA. The T-BoxN12R could not connect to the GSM network. Check the antenna if it is firmly screwed and is not placed in metal case. Check the SIM card. Is it pushed in to the end and contacts facing down? The SIM card must be active with your mobile operator. It might be, that your operator doesn't supply network locally.
