Challenger Early College High School

The Firebird Screams

Student Announcements
February 27, 2012
Congratulations with dealing with our inclement weather this week! Firebirds RISE: Tyler Stobbe and Kaitlyn Forgione have come up with a way, in their graduation project, to have Challenger provide relief to families that have lost their homes in fires or to the recent tornados. The goal is to raise $1,000 for the American Red Cross which then uses the money to help families buy clothes, groceries, or provide temporary housing. When we reach the goal of $1,000, Challenger Early College will be awarded the honor of being a Hometown Hero. What we need from you is: each PAA Family needs to come up with $45-$50 dollars either donated or fundraised. Turn in money to your PAA on Fridays, and Tyler or Kaitlyn will collect the money after PAA Family Time. There will also be a change jar on Mr. Rutherford's desk so anyone can donate spare change that they have to our $1000 goal. We will collect money until March 30. Donate money in PAA Family time to help Challenger become a Hometown Hero! Calendar dates to note: 1. February 27 will be our annual Rising Senior Night for all current juniors and their parents. The meeting will be in CAD 345 at 6 p.m. Attendance is mandatory. See Ms. Austin with any questions. 2. February 28, in the Tarlton Complex, from 11 a.m. 8 p.m., the Office of Multicultural Affairs will host the Tenth Annual Celebration in Honor of Black History Month. Early college students are welcome to follow sign-out procedures (if 9th or 10th graders) and attend with their ID. 3. March 1-2: Spring Break for students 4. Juniors take the ACT for free at CHS on March 6 during the regular school day. Attendance is mandatory. Please bring a calculator if you have one. See Mr. McPhail with any questions. 5. On-going: Each student received Annual BBQ and International Food Festival tickets to sell. This PSO fundraiser supports early college work throughout the year. Please read the directions on the envelope. We encourage all Firebirds to participate! Please note: Freshman and Sophomores are not allowed to hang out in the Auditorium lobby or walkway. Freshman and Sophomores need to stay in the Nest at all times when not in class. Juniors and Seniors are allowed to be outside of the Nest (using the benches outside the Auditorium, for example) unless asked to move because of disruptive behavior. Monday, February 27, 2012
