Pure Thinking expresses the core attributes that make us who we are.

Throughout our recent history, we have built our capabilities around an uncompromising instinct for innovation across the solutions we deliver our clients, whilst always looking for the most environmentally sustainable choices to support that solution. The interdependence between this instinct for innovation, and our commitment to a sustainable future, lies at the heart of our brand, our people and our business as whole. We call this Pure Thinking.

We practice what we preach.

Green committees in each of our offices work to improve the efficiency of our operations and minimise carbon emissions, by creating office policies to promote and sustain good green practices. This includes implementing many low-cost green initiatives such as stationery recycling, herb gardens and worm farms. In 2006 we became the first Australian company to make our entire Asia Pacific operations - including flights, electricity, taxi and car use, couriers and paper usage - 100% carbon neutral, and we have maintained a climate neutral status ever since. We also introduced a Personal Carbon Offset Scheme for employees, which is believed to be the first in the world. This voluntary scheme allows our employees to offset their personal emissions by offering gold standard carbon credits as a salary sacrifice. We are now piloting the Corporate Carbon Portal (CCP) alongside the World Wildlife Fund. This online portal allows us to track, record and report our carbon emissions more accurately, providing a more cohesive approach to offsetting our emissions and helping us identify areas to continue to reduce our carbon emissions.

Intrinsic to our success is understanding what our clients want and making it happen. We seek the best solution, not the easiest. We make the complex simple. We talk our clients language and share their problems. We collaborate and always look for a better way. We are trusted to deliver by a diverse range of clients from family-owned boutiques to large-scale corporations, including builders, notable architects, financiers, developers and all levels of government. We aim to step beyond standard delivery and seek change and innovation whilst proactively managing commercial risk. This means looking beyond our immediate scope and pushing for a better way in every aspect of our projects. This is demonstrated through our world-leading projects, whether new construction or repositioned existing stock, from healthcare to art, from commercial to government.

WSP Lincolne Scott fundamentally believes every project can be delivered with reduced environmental impacts. This principle underpins all our work whether overtly green, or not.

By taking custody of environmental outcomes and commercial value we have been able to show a lineage of progressive environmental projects which have stayed ahead of industry expectations. This continues to motivate our business to innovate and raise the bar. A pioneer in corporate responsibility, we adopted a green policy in the 90s and we have always approached our transition to a sustainable business and leading green building practitioner as a cultural issue. Our projects have acted as a catalyst for change within the industry. By delivering green buildings that work, we have helped prove the business case for environmentally sustainable design. We have supported the industry though our involvement in the foundation of the Green Building Council of Australia, World Green Building Council and similar international bodies.

As of 2009, we have over 100 stars certified by the Green Building Council of Australia which includes many world firsts. We are increasingly involved in green precincts and masterplanning, including Frasers Broadway where we are master engineers; East Darling Harbour where we guided state government; and, South Koreas Songdo Landmark City where we were sustainability advisors. WSP Lincolne Scott has increased its capacity through the complementary environmental services and ethics of WSP Group who have developed global leading carbon footprinting methodologies; carbon strategies for Harvard University; and, large scale international benchmark projects as the world first zero carbon neutral, zero waste city, Masdar, in Abu Dhabi. Our leadership in green buildings has been good for all aspects of our business and we maintain our vision to be the worlds leading green engineering firm.

We are part of the WSP Group. WSP provides best practice, sustainable consulting in the built and natural environment. This involves designing, engineering and managing property, transport, infrastructure, environmental and energy projects. Were over 35 countries, were big, but thats only a small part of our story. No-one is shaped quite like us. Because we cultivate individuality, we cultivate the kind of innovation and expertise you would expect to find in a small specialist consultancy. Because we are big, we have the resources to deliver and the freedom to be ourselves. Because the best teams are made up of different but complementary people with shared vision and values, we are firmly united. And this is what defines us. We are... united by our difference.
