LETS PULL TOGETHER AND GIVE BACK TO OUR MARINE CORPS FAMILY HMLA-469, Camp Pendleton, suffered tragic losses last week. If you are able to give back to these Marine families, please drop off your donation with the Family Readiness Officer. I will make sure it gets delivered. Here is a little info about the families. God Bless those Marines that made the ultimate sacrifice.

SILENT DRILL TEAM IS COMING TO MIRAMAR!

The Battle Color Detachment will be aboard MCAS Miramar on Thursday, March 8, 2012. The ceremony will be performed at the Parade Deck beginning at 1500. All Marines, sailors, families and staff are welcome to attend!

LITTLEST HEARTS APART Who: Parent and child (ideal age 3 and under) What: Littlest Hearts Apart When: Every Tuesday from 1500-1600 Where: Miramar Youth & Teen Center Why: They are too young to really understand what deployment means, right?! Everyone goes through deployment, even the littlest members of our family. This is a time for parent (caregiver) and child to come to group, work on an activity together, learn basic coping skills, network with other families, identify emotions, and encourage family resiliency. The MCAS Miramar Single Marine Program is participating in the following volunteer opportunity on Friday, March 23rd. Transportation is provided (No POVs). What: De Portola Middle School All day PE/Fitness Challenge with sixth through eighth grade students When: Friday, March 23rd Time: 0600-1700 Meet: 0600 (IMPORTANT - Please be prompt) at The Great Escape, Bldg 5305. **Eat breakfast before arriving.** Dress Attire: Boots and Utes (green SMP t-shirts and plain skivi shirts ONLY - NO unit logos or rank insignia). **Uniform authorized by SgtMaj Skinner, Base SgtMaj** Receive: A Letter of Appreciation (LOA) and lunch.

ASYMCA VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES


Sunrise Senior Living Center: Volunteer to spend time with the residents of an assisted living community for seniors! Volunteers facilitate games such as Bingo, cards, etc. and spend time visiting with residents one on one. (Thursday, 1 and 15 March 1800-2000) (15 VOLUNTEERS MAX) Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve: Come help us work in the canyon through various projects and maintenance. Projects include building fences, painting, planting trees, and constructing trails. FREE pizza lunch will be provided! (Saturday, 3 March 0900-1300) (25 VOLUNTEERS MAX) Homework Helpers: Tutor local students of all ages in a variety of subjects. Help children with their homework. Volunteers are paired with children based on subject interest and knowledge. (Every Tuesday in March 1800-2000) (25 VOLUNTEERES MAX) Father Joes Village: Father Joes Village serves over 3,000 meals a day, every day of the year, to the homeless here in San Diego. Please join us in helping serve dinner to the large number of people that come to the village to receive meals. (Thursday, 8 March 1600-1900) (20 VOLUNTEERS MAX) El Monte Valley County Park Cleanup: Join us along with the San Diego River Park Foundation to help clear trash and debris from the reservoir. All tools and equipment will be provided. Families are welcome! (Saturday, 10 March 0900-1200) (50 VOLUNTEERS MAX) Feeding America San Diego: We will be sorting and stocking the Feeding America San Diego warehouse to make sure our local San Diegans in need are fed. Help sort and package food for distribution to food banks throughout San Diego. Kids are welcome ages 6 and up. (Wednesday, 14 and 28 March 1800-2000) (30 VOLUNTEERS MAX) Moonlight Beach Cleanup: The ASY is pairing up with San Diego Coastkeeper for a beach and street cleanup. All tools and equipment will be provided. Families welcome! (Saturday, 17 March 0900-1100) (50 VOLUNTEERS MAX) Neighborhood Exchange: We have partnered up with the San Diego Food Bank! Volunteers needed for organizing food for hundreds of military families for a free food giveaway. Volunteers are also needed for set up, carrying food to cars and breakdown. (Thursday, 22 March 0845-1300) (60 VOLUNTEERS MAX) Lakeside River Park Cleanup: We will be cleaning areas around the park to help restore it to its natural habitat. All supplies will be provided. COMMAND FINANCIAL SPECIALIST TRAINING

AMERICAN CROWN CIRCUS IS COMING TO MCAS MIRAMAR Join in the fun of the American Crown Circus. You will see jugglers, acrobats, clowns and more! AMERICAN RED CROSS LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION CLASS Become an American Red Cross Lifeguard Today! The Lifeguard Certification Class takes place at the MCAS Miramar 50-Meter Pool starting March 2 through March 11. The cost of the course is $175/person for eligible military personnel (AD, Retired, Reserves, Dependents and DOD Civilians). The fee includes tuition and text. MCCS will have Lifeguard positions available. Sign up today to begin training for your next summer job. If youre not able to make this session, the next session will be held April 2 6.
